He's officially now geriatric. Loses to Luca "Lucky Loser" Nardi in three.

    Bye bye.

He is aging, don't say so :)

Tune-ups are not relevant to great players as they add nothing to
legacy. He is still holding 2 slams and ranked no.1.

However it's bizarre that he's a co-record holder at Indian Wells and hasn't won it in 8 years.

    Ditto for Miami.

So his efforts at Indian Wells and Miami are Borg-esque?

He's won all masters titles post his slump, but not these two.

Of course he's been somewhat derailed by those being canceled and then he got banned so it's not like he lost 8 times there in 8 years.

    But still.

At this stage of his career it's all about slams and Nadal for Novak.
He's set an impossibly high standard in recent years but realistically
if he can win 1 slam per year he's doing fantastically well. It appears
Nadal is finished, but if something strange happens and he wins FO it
will fire up Novak once again as 24/23 is too close for comfort. It can
go a couple ways, Novak wins Wim/USO to hopefully shut Rafa out for
good, or he really has slipped and a couple of the younger guys get his
number for good. Will be very interesting the next 6 months.

He played like shit in his most dominant slam, and this shitty level of play has been on display since then. Will he be able to find his best form again? Probably occasionally but with his style of play staying on baseline he will have more bad days. It
will be interesting to watch him at she 36 and compare his level of play with Roger's when he was 36-38 playing 30-32 years old Djokovic.

    Well let's compare them.

Last slam as a 36-year old, Federer lost to Anderson in Wimbledon squandering many match points. He had 19 slams.

Last slam as a 36-year old, Djokovic lost convincingly to Sinner in AO under scorching sun. He had 24 slams.

Off to USO 2018 for Federer and FO 2024 for Djokovic, their first slams as 37-year olds.

    Djokovic leads slam race 24-19...
