The angles, the trajectory and spin that he generated was a beauty and unfortunately we are left with hit and hit-harder tennis now.

When Federer takes his BH as early as he does here, it's a killer shot. Absolutely magnificent. Tsitsipas should watch this every day.

    I am sure Whisper agrees.

Sure, but Nadal's huge weakness was hitting very short in the court.
It's almost like Nadal thinks the service line is the baseline. Nadal
playing like this would lose to any good players from the past pretty
easily. You'll note Federer couldn't hit these kind of shots regularly
v Novak because the ball was much deeper in the court. Novak is a much
more intelligent player, he knows hitting short is lethal so doesn't do
it. Nadal plays more on instinct rather than brains. Nadal would have benefited hugely if he had a decent coach. Letting your uncle coach you
is nice, but pretty dumb if you want to maximize your success.

Yes, but taking it early from the service line is very different to
taking it early inches from the baseline. Sampras would have beaten
Nadal easily if he was hitting groundies around the service line. Show
us some clips of Fed dominating Novak on hard courts.

    You're posting tune-up matches.

Nothing on the line, no nerves, no stakes, it's easy to let your racquet do the talk and play offensively particularly if it's a faster surface.
