smallIt's like that in many places in Europe that accepted very large number of refugees from 3rd world countries. To be expected I think, what will these uneducated, destitude people going to do? Magically become doctors, lawyers, scientists? Maybe
    their children/grandchildren will.

    How does that improve anything?

Whether their children/grandchildren are doctors, lawyers, scientists or not, they will be there and taking place from our children/grandchildren.

It does not matter who is doctor, lawyer, scientist, it matters who occupies the land.

prudent thing to do would be to increase legal immigration with strict standards on quality of applicants (like most other countries have) instead of allowing the free for all we have right now at the southern border. I am putting this out there as well,

Like Sawfish says below, many of the western nations would be facing negative birth rates and heading for insolvency (not enough young people paying into ss, medicare, etc) if not for immigration.

The native population of Finland has been diminishing since 2016. The
net increase in immigration is what has kept the total growing so far.
    Barely.

Between 2000-2021 the total workforce lost 15000-19000 locals. This
trend is not going anywhere. During the next decade, 1/3 of our HC
personnel will retire. These are hard to replace unless you start doing
    it now.

During the same 2000-2021 period, the workforce gained about 160000 foreign-born workers. The increase in the # of workers is only due to immigration. The bills are also increasing because the ratio (# of out
of workforce)/(# of workforce) is increasing. Ageing.

It is estimated that a yearly net immigration of 35000 keeps the
workforce at its present size. We can kind of gauge things from that. In
2022, net immigration was 34000. IIRC, a record year (due to Ukraine).

The employment rate of furriners is not quite that of the natives (which
could be better also) but it is close enuff. Those arrived in the past
ten years have fared well, better than the native unemployed. Which, I
    guess, is the sticking point.

If our Finnskies want to keep their present standards of living in the
2030s and beyond, their choices are limited.

Bottom line, if Finns are not replaced by non-Finns, Finland won't survive?

https://piaohong.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/usenet/index.html> Not a good analogy. Your kids will still be there but they would need to be taxed at 80% to support all the old people. Consider migrants as new taxpayers. My problem is the border is
lawless, no control, it is just wrong when people who go through the proper immigration channels have to wait and spend a lot of money on fees and lawyers to get into the country. From the perspective of fairness and public safety it needs to be stopped.
I have little issue with the numbers of immigrants and to a degree I'm not terribly concerned about their origin, with the caveat that they *do* need to at least make a serious effort to assimilate; this is essential. Granted this, what I do think is
needed is that we know who entered, and where and when. It's the lack of system that's the worst part.-- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Reality is that thing that does not go away when you stop believing in it."

So basically you'd want to rob poorer countries of their most vital demographic that they've spent fortune to educate?

    Is that?

htmlThis is the most absurd claim I've ever seen....

Yeah sure, take their most precious assets and it's nothing that they should complain about?

    Well, the feeling is mutual.
Your theories and views are absurd.

It's nothing personal, you're a decent poster but I can't believe a person can hold such views.

    It's unthinkable imo. Not real.

However I am perhaps even more annoyed since I know you're actually from Greece and you have or you had exposure to something else than this current multicultural dogma in the west.

That's what actually annoys me. You're not someone like jdeluise or Grachhus. You should at least *understand* more even if you don't like it or don't agree.

Sawfish is kinda there I think quite often.

or don't agree.>> Sawfish is kinda there I think quite often.Succinctly, skript: I am very much like you, but I am in an environment where I have to daily, for my entire life, make compromises to succeed that perhaps you do not. If this is true, I can
see no way that you'd truly understand what it's like living in a social environment like I do.I make no judgement about any of this, but I have my preferences, and I can *feel* them in my gut: I would very likely choose your type of environment over
mine, I cannot say absolutely, having never been there, and that's why I say "very likely".If any given human population's social tolerances are distributed along a Gauss curve, some would find it impossible to live here, and they are either hopeless
reactionaries, backwoods hermits, or are drugging themselves for peace of mind. Possibly all three. At the upper quartile of hereditary social tolerance you have probably most Chinese in America, as an example. I am fairly close to this level of gut-
level social tolerance. I have preferences, but am able to tolerate a lot of stuff. Not all, though.I theorize that cultures that have done a lot foreign trading for years, those involved in trading have succeed or failed based on this hereditary
tolerance.Just idle thinking probably. In no sense do I attach a level of superiority to any of these types. The way I see it, you've simply got to plow your way forward in whatever environment you're faced with, social or otherwise, as best you can, or
go under.I'm *not* going under...-- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"...and your little dog, too!" --Sawfish
