    https://petersweden.substack.com/p/wind-turbines-powered-diesel

A whistle blower has revealed that wind power turbines in Scotland have been powered by huge diesel generators in the winter to keep them warm.

71 wind power turbines were connected to six massive diesel generators to de-ice them after a cabling fault developed.

"After a cabling fault developed." Shock!, horror! Backup diesel
generators deployed when main machinery fails. (BTW, "de-icing" isn't
the same as "powering" - these pesky journalists keep trying to
    mislead the hard-of-thinking.)

But not only that, the whistle blower also said that over 4000 litres of dirty oil were leaked from the wind power turbines and sprayed across the Scottish countryside.

Well, shit happens. On the plus side, it probably kept the midges
down. How dirty could it be anyway, if there was no combustion
    involved?

And recently a court in France has ordered a windfarm to be DISMANTLED after it was found that over 1000 birds have been killed by the blades.

I wonder how many inedible species are shot by French "sportsmen" in a
year. Read "La Gloire de mon Pčre" or watch the film for some
    historical context here.

Did you know that wind turbines contain up to 1400 litres of oil to keep them lubricated? Weird how the mainstream media didn’t tell you that…

Gosh! That much? How much oil is there in a car park full of IC
engines? Unlike with cars, the oil in the generators doesn't get
consumed, and will only be replaced after X hours of operation.

Let’s take a look at why renewable energy doesn’t work.

"Doesn't work"? As in providing >52% of the UK's electricity
yesterday (29/12)? Sure, we need something to cover base load when the
wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine. Nuclear could do that
    handsomely.

That's horrible stuff, it's like tranny surgery. Makes no sense.
Well, don't let perfect stand in the way of good. Although I'd agree
that any form of renewable energy that relies on surface conditions
(wind/solar particularly) is not particularly resilient on its own.

Tell me, what kind of large-scale industrial machinery doesn't require a
constant supply of consumables? Or doesn't require maintenance or never
has accidents? The whole point is how efficient or not efficient the
technology is compared to existing fuel production, along with its
potential for growth and improvement. The article (or the part I read)
doesn't even address that... instead it's "oh, no, a wind turbine uses
1400 litres of oil!" Is that a lot? How quickly does it consume this
    amount of oil?

obvious point is the headline about wind turbines being "sustainable energy" is a total lie and false,

Settle down, Berg. 10l of lubricants/year doesn't make any rotor "unsustainable". You chumps need to grow yourself a sense of proportion.

just look at skrip's list above. It's well known wind is nowhere near as efficient as nuclear.

    Depends on what "efficient" means.

    "Petter frĂĄn Sverige"? Geez.

Wind farms are toxic nature disaster... needing endless supply of
materials. And not all that good for energy production either due to the
fact that they don't produce energy when you most need them to.

I posted this about a large commercial wind farm in the Columbia Gorge,

    with pictures.

There was this video hovering around twitter a while ago, featuring
woman holding a dead eagle. Way 2 sad.

These things are evil. And have to be replaced after couple decades of
use. The blades just cant function much longer. That makes A LOT of
    problematic waste.

They also cause noise pollution and spoil the scenery. Even animals
can't bear to listen to them. Whatever animals are left in the vicinity
    that is.

But Pelle loves them. It symbolizes the magnificent success of green
transition to him (that never was).

Lol. Everything breaks down after a few decades of use.

No. Power plants don't need to be demolished after couple decades.

Geez. Where do you get all this knowledge? Twitter or a pint of beer?

The MWh/lifetime costs of different sources of electricity is a train
that has left the station long since. If a bird or two at the other
end of the scales is all you've got, you're not really taken at face
    value.

    Cheers.

Birds are an unfortunate side story, and it's the smallest problem when
    it comes to wind energy.

Other than a well known one, the problems you've so far noticed are
problems that everything else has as well. You just hand-wave the ones
away you see fit. Power plants aren't "demolished" when they need
repair, but they sure need maintenance just as wind turbines do. When a
1.3MW NPP is off-line for weeks/months, possibly for decades, THAT gets expensive.

People who actually know what they are doing, include these stuffs in
total lifetime costs of production. That's all I need to know.

And no, power plants won't be disappearing
anywhere for a long long time.

    Have I said otherwise?

    You're just completely ignorant about
    this topic.

    I mean, really.

But it's waste of time to educate you further since you're incapable of discussing anything seriously...

Try me. With something other than two dead birds, "demolished" power
    plants, and German coal.

    Not happening.

Lol. You don't care about baldy eagles.

    Why not?

Besides, just like polar bears learned to survive by mating with

production off wind has been low but stable. About 1/4 of capacity. This
was the case a couple of days ago when the spot price was below 10c/kWh.
In fact, tomorrow, the day of the record prices, production from bird
killing, oil dripping, falling off blades is expected to go ... UP.

Today, 3 power plants are off to maintenance. A 1000 MW, one NPP worth,
missing from the grid. Power plants that were supposed to sing along
until demolition-day with zero maintenance, zero problems, no capital
costs. "They were? Oh, boo hoo hoo!"

You're right, there is some wind along the Swedish coast, and also a
    little warmer temperature there. Lucky.

You reckon it's a good idea to trust on luck? Let's demolish all the
plants, maybe we get lucky again...

"Failing power plants" wouldn't be a problem if there were enough power
plants. Failing wind however can be at the same time all over, including neighbouring countries.

    https://projects.oregonlive.com/wind-farms/

There was this video hovering around twitter a while ago,
featuring woman holding a dead eagle. Way 2 sad.

Lol. You don't care about baldy eagles.

    Why not?

Besides, just like polar bears learned to survive by mating with >>>>>>>> grizzlies, very soon a little eagle is born that, apart from
only having the ability to point the eyes downwards to check out >>>>>>>> for prey on the ground, can also take a peek forwards to watch >>>>>>>> out for buildings, rotating blades, and airplane engines.
Pointing the boner to a new direction in case of trouble is a
powerful problem solver. Might not cure your ills, but could
    cure them for the offspring.

    It's a wonderful world.

Obviously you skipped the biology lessons at school.
But I guess intersectional feminism is important too.

When somebody posts argumenst like the above, what does that tell
you? It tells you're not taken seriously as an, um, interlocutor.
You're not argued point by/against point but mocked.

These things are evil. And have to be replaced after couple
decades of use. The blades just cant function much longer. That >>>>>>>>> makes A LOT of problematic waste.

Lol. Everything breaks down after a few decades of use.

No. Power plants don't need to be demolished after couple decades. >>>>>>
Geez. Where do you get all this knowledge? Twitter or a pint of beer? >>>>>>
The MWh/lifetime costs of different sources of electricity is a
train that has left the station long since. If a bird or two at
the other end of the scales is all you've got, you're not really
    taken at face value.

    Cheers.

Birds are an unfortunate side story, and it's the smallest problem
when it comes to wind energy.

Other than a well known one, the problems you've so far noticed are
problems that everything else has as well. You just hand-wave the
ones away you see fit. Power plants aren't "demolished" when they
need repair, but they sure need maintenance just as wind turbines
do. When a 1.3MW NPP is off-line for weeks/months, possibly for
    decades, THAT gets expensive.

People who actually know what they are doing, include these stuffs
in total lifetime costs of production. That's all I need to know.

And no, power plants won't be disappearing anywhere for a long long
    time.

    Have I said otherwise?

You're just completely ignorant about this topic.

    I mean, really.

But it's waste of time to educate you further since you're
    incapable of discussing anything seriously...

Try me. With something other than two dead birds, "demolished" power
    plants, and German coal.

    Not happening.

    Wind working magnificently again...

    https://www.iltalehti.fi/kotimaa/a/d0d86ffc-58ec-4b1d-a4cc-2dabe2e009a2

Electricity prices today & tomorrow 5 times the price it was before
    excessive eagle slaughters.
It's actually quite close atm that there even is enough electricity
for entire Finland... we're already buying from Estonia. Cold
weather, no wind (as always in cold weather), high electricity
    consumption...

You got it wrong again. According to Fingrid's real-time page,
production off wind has been low but stable. About 1/4 of capacity.
This was the case a couple of days ago when the spot price was below
10c/kWh. In fact, tomorrow, the day of the record prices, production
from bird killing, oil dripping, falling off blades is expected to go
    ... UP.

Today, 3 power plants are off to maintenance. A 1000 MW, one NPP
worth, missing from the grid. Power plants that were supposed to sing
along until demolition-day with zero maintenance, zero problems, no
capital costs. "They were? Oh, boo hoo hoo!"

It's always the same. Failing power plants. And the occasional
    once-in-a-decade frost.

You're right, there is some wind along the Swedish coast, and also a
    little warmer temperature there. Lucky.

You reckon it's a good idea to trust on luck?

We're not going to die. This Friday will be over soon and nothing ever happened. Power will be dirt cheap again. I will spend today what I made
with the -50c/kWh Norwegian power a few weeks ago.

    Let's demolish all the
plants, maybe we get lucky again...

    Nobody is demolishing anything.

"Failing power plants" wouldn't be a problem if there were enough power plants.

How many is enough? If you want to be 100% sure, you need backup NPPs
for backup NPPs that are in production once a decade. A command economy
    will not have the answer.

We have it good right now. For the first time, we produce abouts the electricity we use. On the whole. The open grid gives us leeway, The
link to Sweden will get an update soon. No need to import power from
Russia anymore. Cut off only a while ago. Uranium is another story. Most
of this, thanks to our previous government gween twansitioning us
through tough times. Likely the plans for another NPP that Putin's war
tore up will be put on the drawing board again. If there is money in
that. We've had more days of NPPs running at a fraction of capacity than
    days like today.

    Thanks, Sanna, for everything!

Yeah, thanks Sanna & greens. Wonder if the US LNG ship is in operation now.

The electricity today costs at best 40 times more than my previous contract.

    https://www.fingrid.fi/en/electricity-market/power-system/

1800e/MWh... that's 1.8 euros /kwh... jesus fucking christ, my previous contract was for less than 5 cents.

And no, power plants won't be disappearing anywhere for a long >>>>>>>> long time.

    Have I said otherwise?

You're just completely ignorant about this topic.

    I mean, really.

But it's waste of time to educate you further since you're
    incapable of discussing anything seriously...

Try me. With something other than two dead birds, "demolished"
    power plants, and German coal.

    Not happening.

    Wind working magnificently again...

Electricity prices today & tomorrow 5 times the price it was
    before excessive eagle slaughters.
It's actually quite close atm that there even is enough
electricity for entire Finland... we're already buying from
Estonia. Cold weather, no wind (as always in cold weather), high
    electricity consumption...

You got it wrong again. According to Fingrid's real-time page,
production off wind has been low but stable. About 1/4 of capacity.
This was the case a couple of days ago when the spot price was
below 10c/kWh. In fact, tomorrow, the day of the record prices,
production from bird killing, oil dripping, falling off blades is
    expected to go ... UP.

Today, 3 power plants are off to maintenance. A 1000 MW, one NPP
worth, missing from the grid. Power plants that were supposed to
sing along until demolition-day with zero maintenance, zero
problems, no capital costs.

This Friday will be over soon and nothing
ever happened. Power will be dirt cheap again. I will spend today
what I made with the -50c/kWh Norwegian power a few weeks ago.

Let's demolish all the plants, maybe we get lucky again...

    Nobody is demolishing anything.

"Failing power plants" wouldn't be a problem if there were enough
    power plants.

How many is enough? If you want to be 100% sure, you need backup NPPs
for backup NPPs that are in production once a decade. A command
economy will not have the answer.

We have it good right now. For the first time, we produce abouts the
electricity we use. On the whole. The open grid gives us leeway, The
link to Sweden will get an update soon. No need to import power from
Russia anymore. Cut off only a while ago. Uranium is another story.
Most of this, thanks to our previous government gween twansitioning
us through tough times. Likely the plans for another NPP that Putin's
war tore up will be put on the drawing board again. If there is money
in that. We've had more days of NPPs running at a fraction of
    capacity than days like today.

    Thanks, Sanna, for everything!

    https://x.com/MRinnekangas/status/1743191301653217403?s=20

Domestic German coal again? Should of known this expertise would be
    coming my way. PerSu expertise.

    Yeah, thanks Sanna & greens.

If you get the same these plants peddle from the grid for less, the
writing is on the wall. If you want these plants around, pay the prices
that make them profitable. Your choice.

Wonder if the US LNG ship is in operation now.

The electricity today costs at best 40 times more than my previous
    contract.

    https://www.fingrid.fi/en/electricity-market/power-system/

1800e/MWh... that's 1.8 euros /kwh... jesus fucking christ, my previous contract was for less than 5 cents.

You can still get a fixed price deal for maybe under 10, not sure.
That's cheap. The average spot price for 2023 is 5.65. You'll get that
below 5 with zero savoir faire.

I made so much money, about €5, with the -50c/kWh a few weeks back, I
    can spend big time today.

If you're on spot, you'll soon have the occasional negative prices
again. Be sure to whine about those too.

    Maybe so.

As I already said, the real issue here is energy prices & energy supply security. All over Europe really.

Wind/solar is ok as an addition, but not as a primary source without
reliable traditional energy sources to fall back on, especially in a
cold Nordic country. The problem is that they're REPLACING reliable
energy sources with this unreliable "green" energy.

Officials asked today - again - Finnish people to avoid energy
    consumption during daytime & evenings.
High energy prices of course affect also production prices, economic competitiveness & inflation. In addition, Finland pays Sweden for these extremely expensive energy imports.

And some will be demolished in near future, as the already shut down
extremely energy efficient Hanasaari CHP coal plant. But it's coal so demolishing it is good, right? Not really... I used to get heat from
Hanasaari, now the heat comes from local reserve power plant which burns
oil. Typically green transition... replacing energy source may have no
backup, is more expensive, less energy efficient and pollutes more.

This (Hanasaari power plant) is certainly more beautiful than hundreds
of gigantic windmills replacing it: https://wikimapia.org/1710386/Hanasaari-Power-Plant#/photo/8587764

Not to mention the insane area those windmills take and spoil.

And the fact that they don't even work when needed most. At the very
moment of writing the 1500 wind turbines in Finland produce only 213 MW.
    Way less than Hanasaari would.

    https://www.fingrid.fi/en/electricity-market/power-system/

The electricity is quite close to running out, actually. If hydro power
runs out/water surfaces freeze, or a nuclear plant has malfunction we're screwed. If Sweden / Estonia needs their own power, we're screwed.
    May be screwed regardless.

Just because you lie and cherrypick doesn't mean everybody else does
that as well. I never lie.

It was the case that Poland was the cheapest in Europe for considerable
lengths when I last looked at the data around a year ago. However it
could be that Finland with wind power is likely cheaper in summers...
while Poland with coal in winters. In any case Poland was remarkably
cheaper back then compared to surrounding nations. Finnish "cheap" price
is not a function of our energy policy, on the contrary... it's a
    function of Sweden's energy policy.

Your data is of course cherry picked and consists of warm winter &
    spring. You provide no links.

Hard to find this data so I asked Bing AI:

"the average electricity price for households in Poland in 2022 was approximately 15.94 euro cents per kWh"

"The average electricity price for households in Finland in 2022 was
    22.78 euro cents per kWh"

However Tilastokeskus claims Finnish price for 2022 as 19 snt/kWh. Still
    more expensive than in Poland.

The fact remains: Poland does not have the cheapest electricity prices

Duh. It's the latest. As such a direct answer to a direct assertion.
2023 is also a return to normalcy after Putin's 2022 which saw 1/10 of
our supply vanish. Sanna Marin handled that beautifully!

The chairman of the board nomination has been completely political.
    Everyone knows this.

The city of Helsinki is a political entity. Politicians are the
watchdogs. By necessity, it is an elected politician that is put to
watch over the interests of the owner. This is hardly a bigus dealus.
Besides, these guys have qualifications other than Donkey Kong.

The chair is but one vote out of eight. He can't dictate anything. If he
tried to do so at the cost of shareholder interest, he would find
himself in jail. To the contrary, Helen has put a lot of money into the Helsinki coffers during Soininvaara's tenure.

    Brainwashing

I did not come down on any side of the issue, skript, so not sure how
    brainwashing fits.

I'll volunteer my thoughts, however, and we could go from there.

The perceived volume of atmosphere disrupted by any given large jet,
and the frequency and scope of commercial flights would seem to
indicate significant accumulated effect. Nor is it decreasing.

So I tentatively think that there's a lot of negative potential, and
yet few, if any greens say much about this, and I think perhaps part
of the reason is that they use commercial flights, have no way around
using them, don't want to exercise the needed self-discipline to be
consistent in their beliefs and personally boycott flying, and so
they'd prefer not to mention it.

It's a big "green issue" if you've been paying attention, and some do
boycott flights.  eg. Greta Thurnberg famously sailed to the US on a
"carbon-free yacht" in 2019 for a UN summit.  Just this morning I was
reading about a company trying to utilize heavily processed human waste
for jet fuel (the theory being that the carbon is already "unlocked" so
there is a net reduction of emissions as a result).  But you're right,
"limo libs" and ultra-rich, "progressive" actors who jet around the
world for movie roles probably don't mention it much :)

yes it a well known "green issue" and the greeny Marxists have moaned
about it for ages, surprised Sawfish hasn't noticed this. It's quite
clear though the rich greens and elite really only want to make flights
more expensive, had one of them tell me this during the pandemic, they themselves of course could easily afford any increase in "cheap
flights", the whole idea is so only they can fly on holidays etc. Have
you seen the pics of Greta and her pals jet plane park at World Economic Forum / Davos last year? All the Hollywood stars / actors / musicians
fly constantly and usually in private jets. Bill Gates is well known to
be one of the world's most frequent flyers. They also want all us
regular folks to be forced to eat bugs and vegetables whilst only they
have access to meat and steak, whilst "owning nothing". That is
literally what they have said, reiterated this year by their head woman
rep who said people will even have to rent their mobile phones.

Besides this do you guys know how amazingly efficient fuel wise planes
really are these days? they are not just spewing out jet fuel randomly
like a Trans Am, it's why you can fly 17 hours non-stop now to Australia
    from London, it amazing.

Have you booked the flight already. For the voting trip with Calimero.
Twump will need the 70 votes.

They're sure prettier than "wind turbines".

This (Hanasaari power plant) is certainly more beautiful than hundreds
    of gigantic windmills replacing it:

Not to mention the insane area those windmills take and spoil.

And the fact that they don't even work when needed most. At the very
moment of writing the 1500 wind turbines in Finland produce only 213
MW. Way less than Hanasaari would.

The electricity is quite close to running out, actually. If hydro
power runs out/water surfaces freeze, or a nuclear plant has
malfunction we're screwed. If Sweden / Estonia needs their own power,
    we're screwed.
    May be screwed regardless.

Green party is dangerous extremist movement. Not only on energy
matters but on pretty much everything. Former communists.

yes that's the whole idea, over here the woman who wanted a "minimum 2
year full lockdown" was a "green expert" who subsequently turned out to
be a long-time member of the communist party.

Tiny was a proponent of "China style" lockdowns late in the game. He's
always been a dangerous monoagenda extremist.

Nowadays opposition is talking with arguments "aren't we stealing from God" as like with solar power.

Strange, I've discussed the topic quite much and never ran into this
    argument.
