(OT) Israeli forces shoot people about to surrender

Three men waiving white flags were shot by the IDF. The men were
shouting in Hebrewese but the Israeli soldiers thought they were boobie
traps. A statement by the Israeli army says anybody in the area was (considered) Hamas. One Israeli soldier shot two of the three. The third escaped but another Israeli soldier opened fire and killed him.
Turns out the three men were Israelis taken hostage by Hamas. They had
either escaped or had been left behind.
The Israeli army says the soldiers were acting against instructions.
What the instructions are, is not said. Put one and one together and the
best guess as to what the instructions would be is: "burn the ghetto
down, let nobody out alive, and let's just not talk about this too much,
OK?"
