    What prompted TT and PeteWasLucky to go off the deep end all of a sudden. They seemed fairly liberal for many years... and now they are bigoted, xenophobic, racist, alt-right conspiracy-theorists?

    How did this transition happen? What do we call these type of folks? Transnutters?

    That's a pretty good representation.

    I have always been a registered Democrat since college/Vietnam war days. Really, a left centrist when considered against my peers, but voted for McGovern, Humphrey, Carter, etc. I voted for Reagan in 84 because his
    message, which was basically "tough love", "you've got to do it
    yourself, and you *can*" had played out as reasonable for the vast bulk
    of the population.

    I think I voted for Bush I, but was not pleased.

    Then I passed on voting until Obama 2008, whom I voted for, and damned,
    the left *ran* farther, leaving me as slightly right of center. I
    haven't voted for Pres since then.

    Since gay marriage, BLM, trans-enthusiasm, identity politics, all of
    this seems to me to produce an inherently unstable society--and
    supporting this new society may similarly imperil the national economic
    policy due to deficit spending mostly on social programs, and I am now perceived as an entrenched rightist.

    But, who cares? It's not like I seek the approval of the woke. In fact,
    their disapproval is an indication that I may hold the most workable
    long-term positions. And that's because so far as I can see, theirs are obviously unworkable.
