It goes to show how important the Asian swing is. It means nothing for the slams or tournaments the A list players take more seriously.

Look at who is left in this draw! That should tell you everything. Who can seriously watch any of these players left?

Without Djokovic in attendance, Alcaraz probably doesn't give a crap. They're the only current rivalry worth watching.

That may be the case but his loss in this tournament has nothing to do with that.

It's a tournament that people in solitary confinement would have trouble watching. Fedalovic were a special breed and they had each other to keep them motivated and give their best in slams, Masters 1000s, etc. What rivalries are on that level now?

It's a masters, and they are tennis professionals that play all year long for money and points.
They are motivated for sure, it's you that isn't motivated to watch because there is no djok, nadal, or Federer :)
You will need to get motivated again, there were nice matches.

It's like tennis is a sort of proxy-type of boxing.

The ball, when you strike it, is a proxy for your fist and the playing
area on the opponent's side is a proxy for their body.

When they strike it, just reverse the relationships.

What part of the court is a proxy for my opponent's testicles? I'd love to finish the match with only a shot or two.

It doesn't matter that it's a Masters 1000 and that they are tennis professionals. Not every tournament is treated the same by the top players. Just look at the players who played the tournament and were left in the draw. The final was Rublev vs Hurkacz
for goodness sake. It's a second tier event.

I can't get motivated to watch/record something like that. I never could. It was interesting when you had the Big Three players competitive at the same time as they would motivate each other and the GOAT race was intriguing.

I can't see myself following any of these younger players once Djokovic/Nadal are done unless something changes. I'd rather be doing a million other things.

The next event I may watch some of is the ATP Finals.

the whole problem is Hurkacz won this event but he massively messed up at Wimbledon by getting to 2 tiebreaks, serving at 140mph, being ahead a mini-break in the tiebreaks and still losing.
