It was really interesting to see him in the ealry stages of the warm up,
    with minimal knee bend.

    Great, easy motion, for sure.

Yes he does, but I was pointing to what many tennis analysts talk about during serving which is called the trophy position. It's very pronounced in his service motion if you know what I am talking about.

I remember wondering how close he was to hitting the court with his
racquet on the drawback loop. As I recall, the racquet head was fairly
close to the ground. It would never touch, I think; that's just an
    illustrative exaggeration.

Often, an exaggerated trophy position is the result of a hitch as the
right toe is brought (dragged?) forward beside the left (RH servers I'm
talking about. You'll note that Fed does not bring the right foot
forward in this fashion. It's much more fluid; he transitions thru the
    trophy position very quickly.

I think this tendency to purposely bring the right foot up to the
service line, resulting in a hitch, is the result of a high ball toss.
This hitch is like a second starting point: you come out of the trophy
position when you *see* that the ball has fallen to optimum position.

I strongly suspect that this is/was purposely taught by some coaches.

Opposed to it are the Ivanesevich or Kyrgios motions.

Yes, Fed has a great, easy, and effective serve motion. But I think the "trophy position" is a little overplayed as a guideline to a good serve. Ideally, I think the serving arm shoulder should be a little more lower than the trophy position.

Here is an example of what I mean, from IMO, the most effortless serve motion I've seen:

When you are 6,4 you can cut many corners and still hit good serves. His serve is pure topspin serve without worrying about the ball hitting the net due to his height.

Zverev can take a note from Stich to fix his double faults disasterfull serving.

Sampras' position was technically perfect, you couldn't better it only
equal at best. Fed's has too many moving parts, whippy, inefficient.
He's like the bizarrio superman v the real deal in Sampras.

Both had platform stances, legworks are similar. Sampras might of had
more tilt, not sure. Perhaps rotated more. Starting from the hips up to shoulders.

What Fed does with his body up to the trophy "position" is delightfully straightforward. Just bend the knees and toss/tilt. Not really that much rotation of shoulders/hips. None of that Djok type excessive arching
either. An easy motion. Consequently, has had few back/arm issues. A
blueprint for every player, from beginner to pro.

2.5 year slump where he lost in every tournament? Ok.

He didn't win Wimbledon the year before (2000), and every year before that till 96?
He didn't reach the final of the us open this year as well and the following year and then beat his sister the year after to win his last slam? And he was 29-30 years old btw.

So, how is this considered slump? But guess what, Federer can't be slumping at age 36 and 38 reaching slam finals as well while he was peak? :)

You see the problem here Whisper? :)
