What I love about cnn is that they get their analysts on the show to discuss this and they try to convince people that these stores are closing because of the way people started to shop when covid hit and not due to the highly uncontrolled theft only :)

Exactly. Three of them are in Portland, and they were prime locations.

Nordstrom pulled out from a major site in 2015. Theft--flash mobs.

But the real reason/problem is that retail is dead. Blaming it on theft
is easier for shareholders to swallow than blaming it on flagging sales.

start with a sighhhh or ohhh, begin about how you white folks always say the same, then something about typical racism to distract from the video or something about this happens hardly anywhere, try to blame poverty or blame joblessness or just young ppl
having fun, say something about same suspects on the right always say same thing about people of colour, totally ignore the leftist policies that caused it, refuse to say anything constructive or be critical of the "community", end with some quip about

Exactly. Three of them are in Portland, and they were prime locations.

Nordstrom pulled out from a major site in 2015. Theft--flash mobs.
But the real reason/problem is that retail is dead. Blaming it on theft
is easier for shareholders to swallow than blaming it on flagging sales.
    Obviously, it's Amazon.
any excuse, rather than blaming your "community", right?
Super dumb comment, from a Communist.

no it's a correct and true comment cos you never ever blame the "community", you never blame the criminals you always invent an excuse for them, but then you're known as being woke = a liar.

"Retail" implies physical shopping locations... brick-and-mortar. I'm just saying I think there are plenty of contributing factors. Maybe theft was the straw that broke the camel's back though.
That's possible, but isn't it pretty clear that on-line shopping has put a big dent into brick and mortar sales?

It's funny how the dual jd/bm felt obligated to defend organized crime, no matter what their excuses are, just the matter of having doubts about its impact on retail.

They're simply pointing out to society collapsing and they expect order to be restored?

no probs, propose changing the culture of avoiding any blame for the criminal and the "community" at all costs and making up endless excuses. Instead, blame the criminal and the "community" for sheltering the criminal.

His campaign "crashed" because the other Democrat candidates ganged up and torpedoed him. He was doing pretty well until then. He still wouldn't have survived primaries in the South, but that's almost a badge of honor. This was Bernie's own "Lost Cause."

I rather doubt that there are any real Marxists in the US in 2023. It's truly a dumb, boring debate style. And repetitive.
No difference with the "woke" debate style.
True dat. Everyone should simply speak their minds. You know, just think things through and attempt to make sense.
    Agreed.

If this is done with the sort of honesty and mutual respect that happens

Yes. BTW, when you said the other day that you were booted from Redditt, what did you actually say? Seems like you might have been provoked?

I think what I said was presented by my interlocutor as an actual
    personal threat.

I said that if you think that words are actual "violence", you have
never been punched in the face. Then you would know the difference.

errmm the BLM guys are admitted Marxists, they said so on their "About Us" page which was up there for all to see when the riots they provoked using that career criminal George Floyd kicked off, then they took it off when people started pointing this
out, like classic devious Marxists. Then there's the Marxist Bernie Sanders who even had his honeymoon in the USSR and dropped "Democratic" from his party name when he $old out and his campaign crashed in 2020.

His campaign "crashed" because the other Democrat candidates ganged up and torpedoed him. He was doing pretty well until then. He still wouldn't have survived primaries in the South, but that's almost a badge of honor. This was Bernie's own "Lost Cause.

And Bernie fanboys torpedoed Warren. I still think she would have made

That's fine, but since it is an open forum, our comments are put out there for the original speaker, the questioner, and other members of RST. So they can be heeded, rejected, protested or simply ignored. It doesn't matter to me which anyone chooses. I
would feel the same if a bunch of us had congregated in a physical room to discuss tennis and drifted to other topics.

When I used IRC back in the day, it was similar, but took place in real-time. That format had the advantage of the ability to launch private side-chats with any fellow member of a "channel." You could talk that way without anyone throwing their two cents
in. Here we can't do that. There are times the clamor can get annoying during give-and-take with one person. But not a huge deal IMO.

this just in from TT's PR department :
    Q. please tell us why Hillary Clinton is absoultely wonderful
Here's some factual information about Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. According to the Atlantic, millions of Americans, women and men, love her intelligence, her industriousness, and her grit; they feel loyal to her, they will vote with
enthusiasm for her. The article also highlights that she is a knowledgeable, well-prepared, reasonable, experienced, even-tempered, hardworking candidate. The Guardian also notes that she would be the youngest woman ever to be president of the United
States if she makes it to the Oval Office. She’ll be less tainted by the scandals and mistakes of previous administrations than any woman ever has been. The Week states that she has a wealth of experience in politics and has been a senator and

Yep. And about her ever-so "sensible" positions in debates. Even

    Q. please tell us why Hillary Clinton is absoultely wonderful

And the rest of us can chime in if we feel inclined. That's what's great about having no moderator, right?! :)
    I agree, and I'm just letting you know--and everyone--how little value I
place on someone answering for another.
I mean, as you say, it's RST, but not all comments are of equal value.
That's fine, but since it is an open forum, our comments are put out there for the original speaker, the questioner, and other members of RST. So they can be heeded, rejected, protested or simply ignored. It doesn't matter to me which anyone chooses.
I would feel the same if a bunch of us had congregated in a physical room to discuss tennis and drifted to other topics.

When I used IRC back in the day, it was similar, but took place in real-time. That format had the advantage of the ability to launch private side-chats with any fellow member of a "channel." You could talk that way without anyone throwing their two
cents in. Here we can't do that. There are times the clamor can get annoying during give-and-take with one person. But not a huge deal IMO.

    No, it's not.

I'll clarify what it was about. It was as if someone had asked you a
question about one of your preferences, and I answered in your stead, or
in fact jumped in after someone else had answered, but with an
alternative answer to the question intended for you.

I would feel that I had been rude to you.

And sure enough; you've gone and intimidated TT into not directly responding...  ;^)

But this is all behind us now, so far as I'm concerned.

TT, if you want to know what's wrong with American society in a
nutshell, it's that the people like the cashier, representing authority,
are more afraid of the law than the criminals are. She'd need to be
concerned about whether she'd be sued, fired, and charged with battery.
Since you can easily find her at the shop, or at home, the police or
process servers can find her. This is much less likely for the criminals.

    Very simple.

in other words it's because the police are so lazy and the lawyer scumbags always back the criminal for $$$. You might like this, just this week some right-wing guy called Laurence Fox on X said he was all for dismantling Mayor Khan's traffic cameras,
this of course is far worse than burglarly or car theft which the police have officially said they don't care about anymore + they refuse to arrest woke green protestors, but they sent 6 (yes SIX) officers round his house to search the whole place and
then arrested him! what a wonderful system where muggers, burglars, car and bike thieves have free reign but you mustn't be rude on X or dissent from the leftist narrative :D

Not exactly, the way it is here in PDX.
