This is interesting. It's the way I thought for a long time here.

I used to see profoundly flawed logic and unvetted data being used here routinely. The obvious problems with allowing these in discussion really *bothered* me because it's just plain too sloppy accept comfortably.
Like listening to Mrs. Moscowitz and Mrs. Yehudi gossiping over the back
    fence in Brooklyn in 1934.

Gradually I realized that maybe 70-80% of the posts were simply looking
for conflict. This naturally caused interpersonal enmity and so actual disagreements over demonstrable point of difference in social policy,
e.g., took second place to trading insults. This devolved into
interlocutors creating straw men routinely  to use as a sort of point of departure for more fightin'.

I mean, it's entirely possible to raise a topic like the evolution of
the western grip, and why it is/was the dominant grip used in the pros,
and get no responses, whatsoever. And this in a newsgroup nominally
    dedicated to tennis.

So next would be to take life observations and attempt to make a general
rule that might govern 80% of all cases, and that will fall flat, or be
met with either derision or outright enmity, with no attempt to actually address the points, when it was meant to stimulate an interaction, from
which the original position might be refined or even discarded if
    fundamentally flawed.

I have tried to back away from all this because it's personally very distasteful.

    It makes periodic vacations necessary.

Agreed, the discussion should aid the investigation, not hinder it.

    Maybe there's a better way.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lysistrata

Might not work with the raping Ruzzians, though.

    or in Scotland!

    https://www.heraldscotland.com/politics/23601272.rapes-scotland-highest-level-record/
Rapes in Scotland at their highest level on record
And then there is "lying by omission". Lamentable as it is, the Scottish rate per capita is still less than half of that in England.

    https://criminalinjurieshelpline.co.uk/blog/sexual-assault-data-stats/#:~:text=The%20charity%20'Rape%20Crisis'%20has,or%20sexual%20assault%20every%20year.
what's that got to with England? you mentioned Russia, dimvit.
And then you mentioned Scotland, duh.
yes cos he comes from Scotchland, duh.
And you don't come from England?
look comrade thicko, Custom was having his usual stereotypical Russophobic dig at Russia and said they were rapists, so I pointed out rape was at an all-time high in Scotland, because Scotland is where he(the accuser) comes from, he can't sit there
and whinge about Russia when it as bad or possibly worse in Scotland. It also totally irrelevant to the debate where I come from, as it between Russia and Scotland.
Wow. You entered the debate by saying Scotland was like Russia, because the previous poster brought up Russia and is from Scotland.

yes of course, why not? where the poster is based hugely biases their viewpoint, look at Pelle he purposely won't officially reveal that he's originally from middle-class Guardian-reading England, cos he's terrified then everyone would just shrug and say
"oh yes no wonder you say that dumb stuff".

so you're saying bmoore(a Marxist who voted Biden over Trump, supports more and more of this trans/gender/society wrecking stuff, supported BLM and anything woke agenda) is "not so different" from guys like skrip and myself?!
Did I ever say "not so different"?
forgive for saying but did similar folks tell you that Africans leaders are "not so different" from Western leaders when aparthied collapsed too??!
It looks like I've gotten onto your "fightin' list", Ice. That's too bad
because basically we see actual issues/behaviors about the same in probably 85% of all cases, but I just don't like fightin' here.

    ...and that's the BIGGEST difference.
At the end of the day, "being right" is less important than actual discussion.
no "being right" is very important when it's your Marxist stuff like telling us a man wearing a dress = a woman and somehow biological men who "feel" they are women aren't literally mentally deluded.
I've never said that. You're wrong.

    You just "fight". Lame.
you've leapt in countless times to defend any criticism of woke stuff or any Biden policy, that's kind of a very clear indication of your support for it, comrade!

No, I have not. You play fast and loose with the facts. The newsgroup co-idiot.

This is interesting. It's the way I thought for a long time here.

I used to see profoundly flawed logic and unvetted data being used here
routinely. The obvious problems with allowing these in discussion really
*bothered* me because it's just plain too sloppy accept comfortably.
Like listening to Mrs. Moscowitz and Mrs. Yehudi gossiping over the back
    fence in Brooklyn in 1934.

Gradually I realized that maybe 70-80% of the posts were simply looking
for conflict. This naturally caused interpersonal enmity and so actual
disagreements over demonstrable point of difference in social policy,
e.g., took second place to trading insults. This devolved into >> interlocutors creating straw men routinely to use as a sort of point of
    departure for more fightin'.

I mean, it's entirely possible to raise a topic like the evolution of
the western grip, and why it is/was the dominant grip used in the pros,
and get no responses, whatsoever. And this in a newsgroup nominally
    dedicated to tennis.

So next would be to take life observations and attempt to make a general
rule that might govern 80% of all cases, and that will fall flat, or be
met with either derision or outright enmity, with no attempt to actually
address the points, when it was meant to stimulate an interaction, from
which the original position might be refined or even discarded if
    fundamentally flawed.

I have tried to back away from all this because it's personally very
    distasteful.

oh yes it's very mature to pretend you're not a Biden voter and try to hide being an New York Slimes subscriber rather than just openly admitting it. This week on Twitter they were saying they've never seen someone admit to being a Biden voter, amazing
when there meant to be 81MILLION of you guys.
