• The Djoker is the Undisputed Tennis GOAT Today

From Paul Dorman@21:1/5 to All on Sun Sep 10 18:25:39 2023
Yes, there are many Djoker haters here, and to be
honest, I wanted Medvedev to win today too.

But facts are facts, and the Djoker's record speaks
    for itself.

And he obviously not done YET! He's got AT LEAST 2-3
    more Slams in him!

    Unbelievable!

I don't think history will rate this win very high, to be frank.

can't think why? is it cos he's now got more slams than Serena?? is the MSM very upset by that also that he's from Serbia and was playing a Russian and all the other stuff

It's bad. You can't be the goat of Wimbledon when you lose four finals to your biggest rivals. It doesn't make sense. You have to protect your so-called turf. Think about it logically.

Yes it's almost getting a bit ridiculous at the rate he's piling up
these slam titles. He's 4 slams ahead of Federer - Courier/Vilas career
level lead - looks to have lots more in the tank. Novak prob only has 1
rival for the next year at least, maybe 2. That's a great position to
be at age 36 and no real pressure to win slams, can swing freely and
take more chances. Carlos will be under the gun trying to win slams to
prove his pedigree, Novak is playing with house money.

Rules must be same for everyone.

Titles, then finals, then semis, then quarters.

Titles and finals...in this case is enough.

    Federer, 8, 12
    Djokovic, 7, 9
    Sampras, 7, 7

Federer is Wimbledon goat, no matter how miniscule the lead is. In fact, it's not miniscule at all, he has 1 title more.

It's someone's career accomplishment. E.g. Cash, Stich, Krajicek, Ivanišević...

    That's a about it.

But decades or centuries from now, do you really know about Cochet vs Tilden Wimbledon finals h2h?

    I don't and I know a lot about tennis.

Bad h2h is problematic because it prevents you from winning the titles.

True, everyone knows the answer the same way they know the answer for Federer vs Pete.

I don't think history will rate this win very high, to be frank.

can't think why? is it cos he's now got more slams than Serena?? is the MSM very upset by that also that he's from Serbia and was playing a Russian and all the other stuff

Serena was hardly big darling of the MSM, at least in Europe.
It's just that ATP is not very interesting, and has not been for some
time. All too obvious that the new generation is not up to the standard

Medvedev and Alcaraz are midgets, but who are the giants then?

    Baghdatis and Ljubičić?

    Define prime.

Nadal won FO betwen 2005 and 2022 and Djokovic has beaten him 2 twice there in that period.

The entire tennis tour, minus Djokovic, has done it 1 once.

So even if it's a losing h2h, Djokovic was able to do it.

    So

We all have thoughts re who would beat who at prime/peak etc.
That's an opinion isn't it? It has no real currency, worthless
