Has 600 points, finalist, to defend in Cincy. I don't know how much a
R16 loss will make up for it, but it's possible he could drop 3 places
in the wankings.

Remember this moment tennis fans. If Tsitsipas doesn’t turn things around, which looks quite possible, this is the last time ever a single hander was in the top 5.

yes but it's not cos he's a single-hander.--Remember this moment tennis fans. If Tsitsipas doesn’t turn things around, which looks quite possible, this is the last time ever a single hander was in the top 5.

I hope she returns to the tour soon.-- ---------------

has beaten Nadal on clay more than once. What is more,
he won the US Open a while back. It was a great match
and Thiem was the first player ever to win the US
Open final coming back from 2-0 sets down.
But it is true that his comeback has been, well, a big
disaster to put it bluntly. When he returned to the
ATP Tour, I guess he lost something like 14-15 matches
straight, and it has not been easy after that either.
His ranking is now 83. He recently reached the final
in a clay-court ATP250 event in Austria, but lost
clearly to the small Argentinian guy... Not Diego
Schwartzmann... I had to use Google: Sebastian Baez.

I fear [Dominic Thiem] is done.

Well, Wawrinka won three slams, but he and Thiem are
a shadow of the players they once were. The only single
hander capable of achieving anything now is Tsitsipas.

Thiem is still only 29 years and could continue playing
for 10 years if he could play well again.

I think the chances of him getting back anywhere
close to his old level is effectively zero. This
is not a dip in form, he has been awful for
nearly three years now.

bad, but please note that he did make it to the Kitzbuhel
ATP250 final in Austria. This tournament was played
on clay only about two weeks ago:

I still have some hope left, but you are right in that
returning to the Top 10 will be very difficult for him.

I watched him a lot when he was in the top 10. I enjoyed his style of playing but had the distinct impression that he was playing at the
ragged edge of his ability. By this I mean that he had to be at 95+% all
the time, no margin for off days.
This may not be true, but maybe he was right at the redline all the
time. If so, now when he is off, he is no longer able to make the grade
to top 10. This is also true of Rublev, who is always at 95+% to be
where he is at now. He's just not as good as Thiem was.
