• OT: What is the name of the phenomenon where nobody responds to a post?

From Whisper@21:1/5 to All on Sat Jul 22 18:48:50 2023
Maybe not completely OT, since it has to do with when threads die.

Had never heard of it but it is called the Bruce phenomenon.

    Bard:
The phenomenon is called the Bruce phenomenon, after Bruce E. Drushel,
who first identified it in a 1996 article titled "The Bruce Phenomenon:
Why Some Posts on Usenet Go Unanswered."

The Bruce phenomenon is the tendency for some posts on online forums to
go unanswered, even when they are well-written and on-topic. There are a
number of possible reasons for this, including:

The post is simply not interesting to the other forum users.
The post asks a question that is too difficult or obscure to answer.
The post is posted at an inconvenient time, when few people are online.
The post is technically flawed, and therefore not visible to other users.

In some cases, the Bruce phenomenon can be frustrating for the poster,
who may not know why their post is not getting any responses.

However, it is important to remember that not all posts on online forums
are meant to be answered. Some posts are simply a way for the poster to
share their thoughts or ideas, and they do not necessarily require a
    response.

The Bruce phenomenon is a well-known phenomenon in the online community,
and it has been the subject of a number of studies. However, there is no
one definitive answer to the question of why some posts go unanswered.
The reasons for the Bruce phenomenon are likely complex and multifaceted.

Be ironic if no one responds ; )
