• Goran's coaching...

Never thought I would write this, but Goran has ended up as a great coach for Djokovic. Djok is playing better now than he ever has IMO, and Goran seems to have helped Djok's game - especially the serve...

Does it seems to you that there are many similarities between
    Ivanisevich's service motion and Kyrgios'?

Barbecue grills on fire behind the condominiums that line the 9th fairway.

I watched casual strollers slip on dog excrement on the boardwalk near the amusement pier.

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Well, the question was not addressed to me, but I
will comment anyway. It has been ages since I saw
    Goran Ivanisevic play.

He was a lefty while Kyrgios is not, but I guess
that is not important here. I think both players
have a quick service motion and their ball toss
could also be lower than average?

I cannot think of other similarities now.

So far as I'm concerned, any question posted to the open group is
    inviting comments from all members.

Yes, those are the similarities I see, too. Kyrgios especially has a
very compact motion with a low toss.

Having played for years, in my opinion the high toss has two
disadvantages: wind drift when playing outdoors, and it's possible to
pick up a bit of a clue on the general direction intended. Plus you have
a bit more time to react to that clue.

Downside is that low toss make it harder to get a deep knee bend to
generate power. The power that Kyrgios and Ivanisevich had was likely
generated by arm/wrist, and perhaps more torsional rotation than is common.

Still, a more conventional server could at least use the arm/wrist, like
these two, and added the deep knee bend. There's added potential for the
    higher toss/knew bend.

I think in many ways Djokovic is playing better now as well. Don't tell PeteWasLucky that though! ;)

Let's see if Alcaraz can stop this Djokovic tomorrow. It sure would make it more interesting if Alcaraz could stop Djokovic but I have to see it to believe it.

Yes, Novak knew he needed to keep points shorter as he aged and the
obvious strategy was to improve his serving.

He's been improving his serve from since 2010 at least.

Nick has a great serve, but Goran's was superior.

Goran still holds the record for most aces in a tennis season, 1,477 in 1996

Should be a very interesting match. Carlos won't choke and we know
Novak won't either. Novak will make Carlos win it, will get no
freebies. Can the kid keep pulling the trigger on the big points while
getting no freebies? Carlos has had very impressive straight set wins
over Rune and especially Medvedev coming into this match, will be very
fresh and confident. This should be 1 of those historically critical
matches analysts will discuss forever : )

They have a lot in common off the court too - Croatian mothers and
    Serbian fathers.

That was never a part of the discussion, until now.

Do you feel that the total was affected by Ivo being a lefty?

    If so, how much?

[Note: this is not to say that he wasn't a great server, but merely to
examine the components of his serve, and try to ascribe a relative value
    to them.]
