• Wimbledon 2023: Maxime Cressy is unfortunately out

From Kalevi Kolttonen@21:1/5 to All on Wed Jul 5 22:33:07 2023
    Hello!

I am sad to say that Maxime Cressy just lost to Djere
    7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 6-7. I did not watch the whole match,
but I don't think there were many service breaks.

Cressy double faulted in very bad spots in the 3rd
and 4th set TBs. In the 3rd, I suppose it gave Djere
a set point which he converted. In the 4th, at 7-7,
the double fault gave Djere a match point, and
again, he made the best out of it. Then the match
    was over.

I usually support Cressy against many opponents,
since his crazy serve and volley is a nice reminder
of the past when John McEnroe, Edberg, Becker and Stich
    played serve and volley.

Nowadays practically everyone is an offensive
baseliner, so Cressy's strategy brings something
else to the matches. It is unfortunate that his
path ended right here in this tournament.

    br,
    KK

I agree with you, I always enjoy watching Cressy play. Unfortunately,
this match wasn't on the broadcast networks that I watch.

Some condolences; sounds like he played a great match and maybe he can
do damage at the HOF grass court and then the USA Hard Court series.

You forgot to mention Rafter! He was a two time US Open Champion and
    Wimbly finalist.

He was also many sorority gal's dreamboat when he played. I recall
working with several college gals and they didn't know crap about
tennis, yet when he was playing they told me that they never changed TV channels...

yeah! lot of English girls thought he was wondrerful too, mentioning tennis back then they would often say how they'd heard of Sampras and Agassi but add how much they liked Rafter.
