her coach said she shouldn't play when she feels like that! which is insane cos that's just regular tennis pressure you get at any level and in any sport, it just gives her an excuse to bail from anything, yet the media loved her for saying this nonsense!
When someone makes a claim like Badosa, and the media and most others
show sympathy, it enables the easy way out. It undercuts the resolve
needed to hang in there as it gets tougher and tougher. It's the
antithesis of the mentality of the common Japanese soldier vs the US
forces in WWII. Not saying that's always appropriate, but simply to
demonstrate the other end of the spectrum, where wussing out is not
tolerated. So, you hang in there to the bitter end...
The whole conversation reminds me of a French Canadian drinking buddy
