Wow. Health Department Recommends Fans Get HIV/Hepatitis C Tests After
Extreme Independent Show.

That’s one of the strangest souvenirs ever. Independent wrestling is not like mainstream wrestling and that’s putting it mildly. Things can happen
at an independent show that you see in the WWE and often times there is a reason for that. Some of the more violence based promotions can take
things too far and that certainly seems to be the case at a recent event.

According to the Jeffersonville, Indiana News and Tribune, fans who
attended the Pro Wrestling TrainWreck event on June 23 may have been
exposed to blood borne pathogens and the Health Department suggests testing
for HIV and Hepatitis C. The event was billed as extreme wrestling and featured death matches. The promotion has put out a statement on Twitter denying the story.

I don’t see the point in death matches. Check out two people who didn’t need that much violence to be stars:

Opinion: I do not care for death matches and this is a great reason why. Whether or not the threat was there or whether or not the wrestlers were
clean is immaterial. For the life of me, I do not see the appeal of having matches with light tubes, big pieces of glass and so much blood that the
Health Department suggested screenings for diseases. What that level of violence has to do with wrestling is beyond me and I’d really rather not
try to understand it.

A Fresh New Face. This Name Could Be In Line For A Major Push In AEW (You Might Be Surprised).

You have to give someone a chance. AEW is on the brink of breaking onto
the mainstream wrestling stage and becoming the second biggest wrestling company in the United States. They already have their core group of people
but that still leaves room for a lot more names to be added to the list. However, it seems that one name is near the top of the pile for a potential mega push.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Shawn Spears, formerly
known as Tye Dillinger, could be in line for a major push in AEW when the company debuts on TNT in October. Spears is considered to be something of
a player coach as he is thirty eight years old and has been in wrestling
for eighteen years now, with two long stints in WWE. The move could be
done to show WWE what they are missing.

Opinion: This is where things could get interesting as we get to see what
AEW can do with a WWE talent who was said to never have received a real
chance in WWE. Spears was around for a long time and was little more than
an introduction. It should be interesting to see what AEW can do with him,
as the track record of talents leaving WWE has been hit or miss at best.

RUMOR: The Top Of The Charts. Here Are The Top Merchandise Sellers In WWE.

On top of the list. WWE makes a lot of money from a lot of different
places, but one of the biggest is their merchandise. If there is one thing that WWE knows how to do, it is put together some merchandise for a lot of
its wrestlers. That is the case with just about everyone in the company
today, but out of all the people on the roster, whose sells the best of
anyone?

According to Brad Shepard’s Oh. You Didn’t Know podcast, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins are the top two merchandise sellers in the company with Becky Lynch third. While not being given a specific place, Kofi Kingston’s merchandise is said to also sell well. It is not clear if Kingston’s sales include New Day’s numbers. These sales include all forms of merchandise, meaning someone with more options will sell more merchandise.

Opinion: None of these are exactly a surprise, but it is a good sign that
Lynch is managing to hang with some of the biggest names in the company.
After all of the effort that has been put into her, it is at least some
proof that things worked out well. At the same time, having Reigns and
Rollins at the top of the list is no surprise and they are likely to be
there for a long time to come.

It Worked Before. Former World Champion Wants Dream Match With Brock
Lesnar (And It Could Happen).

Is it worth it? Brock Lesnar is one of the most unique talents that
wrestling has ever seen. You never see a combination of size, wrestling ability and raw strength like him and Lesnar certainly seems to know it. However, Lesnar has had some issues wrestling against smaller talents,
which is where we get to a former World Champion who would like to take a
shot at the Beast.

Rey Mysterio was recently interviewed by Wrestlinginc.com and talked about
some of the wrestlers he wanted to face during the last few years of his career. One name that came up was Lesnar, who Mysterio fought earlier on
in Lesnar’s career. The two have had two singles matches before with a
2002 match going to a no contest and Lesnar making Mysterio submit in 2003.

Opinion: This could be an interesting one, though I’d be afraid that
Mysterio could get thrown all the way back to San Diego. Lesnar has had
some great performances against smaller wrestlers and having him take a 619
and then kick out of the West Coast Pop could be a great moment. Mysterio
can wrestle against anyone and Lesnar can go when he is motivated, so this could work.

In Their Own Hands. FOX Has Two Ideas On How To Help Grow SmackDown Lives Audience.

At least they have a plan. There is a lot going on in WWE at the moment,
with a lot of focus on how to fix the various problems the company is
having. At the same time there are all kinds of shows going on with one
coming as soon as the other goes. With all that going on, there is also
the impending move to FOX for SmackDown Live. As it turns out, FOX has its
own idea for how to get the show off on the right foot.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, FOX is planning on using a combination of two new cameras to help film the new show. In addition,
they are planning on bringing in a host of celebrities for the first
episode, which will be taking place in the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on October 4. At the moment, there is no name on which
celebrities would be brought in.

Opinion: This certainly makes a lot of sense as WWE certainly has a history with celebrities. WrestleMania was built on the idea of having celebrities around and there is no reason to not do the same thing here. With the FOX
name and the Los Angeles setting, it shouldn’t be that hard to figure out someone to come in and make the show look both more important and fun at
the same time.

The First Date. When Are Paul Heyman And Eric Bischoff Taking Over Monday Night Raw And SmackDown Live?

You have to start somewhere. Earlier today, news broke that Eric Bischoff
and Paul Heyman would now be in charge of SmackDown Live and Monday Night
Raw respectively. This marks a major change of pace in WWE with all kinds
of possibilities opening up. Things are going to change at least a little
bit, but none of that can happen until the two start. So when would that
be?

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the change over will not be immediate.
Both Heyman and Bischoff will be slowly brought into their jobs so as not
to be overwhelmed by everything changing at once. While no specific date
is mentioned, the change will not be taking place within the next few
weeks. However, you can expect some subtle changes before their takeover
is complete.

Opinion: That is the best course of action as you want to give the two of
them a chance to set up some ideas and get ready for their jobs. There is
no point in throwing them out there without the best chance for everything going well. This is the kind of thing that could help WWE out of a lot of trouble and it would be a very bad idea to not give it as strong of a
chance as they could have.

Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff Return to WWE: Will Vince McMahon Give them a Chance to Succeed?

The pro wrestling world was sent into a tailspin on June 27 with the news
that WWE has appointed two legendary figures to oversee the creative on its biggest programs. Former WCW President Eric Bischoff will serve as
Executive Director for SmackDown Live and former ECW owner Paul Heyman will hold the same title over Monday Night Raw.

It was indeed a shock for fans and insiders, who were completely caught off guard with the news. Both men will have major influence on each brand and
for many, that’s a very good thing. The overall WWE product has needed a refresh for quite some time. But the truth is that no matter how promising
this looks, it will only succeed if Vince McMahon allows it to happen.

This is the one catch to the story and everyone knows it. Vince McMahon,
for all of the tremendous genius he has shown over the years, doesn’t typically surrender control to anyone. Even when things look rough for his company, Vince McMahon keeps the reins and snaps them even harder than before.

The man just does not know when to say when and for the most part, there’s nothing wrong with that. Had it not been for his ambition, stubbornness and ego, WWE would not be in the position it’s in now. McMahon has been told no many times over the years. He’s also been told that he shouldn’t do certain things, just as he’s been told that he would never make it. Lesser men
would take all of that criticism to heart and just give up. 

But Vince McMahon is no ordinary man. Vince has proven time after time that
no matter how big the fight is or how long it may last, he will never give
up. If he listened to his critics, he may never have achieved the level of success that WWE enjoys today. That much is certain about this story and everyone knows that as well.

However, the idea that Vince can do no wrong died a long time ago. Even the most loyal of the WWE faithful knows that he is not infallible. The boss
has made his fair share of mistakes and many of them seem to center on the notion that he just refuses to listen. He doesn’t listen to the agents, the writers and most importantly, the fans. Vince has his way of doing business
and he typically doesn’t like to stray from it.

So why would that change now? Why would Vince McMahon, the man who has
always had to fight for his life in the industry and deliver pro wrestling
his way, suddenly be content to hand his shows over? Could it be that Vince
is indeed beginning to slow down and he needs a break? Or is it possible
that his commitment to the XFL is so large that he has no choice but to
step aside from WWE, at least in the short term?

Or does the company’s current situation now dictate that something has to change? Ratings are down. Live event, as well as pay-per-view attendance,
are both down. Fan criticism is at an all time high, as WWE continues to disappoint on TV. While much of this has been happening for several months,
it could be that only now has the company actually realized the gravity of
the issue.

Perhaps the hiring of Heyman and Bischoff was a necessary evil because at
this point, there doesn’t seem to be any other options. Non-Wrestling
people have called the shots creatively for quite a while. Sometimes that
works and sometimes it doesn’t. Whether or not it’s ever worked has never been up for debate among fans, who firmly believe that only wrestling
people understand wrestling. For them, using anyone else never seemed like
a good idea. 

So now Paul and Eric will come in, to presumably dive head-first into the creative waters of Raw and SmackDown. Vince is likely still there, at least
for now. Each program will surely get tweaked, or possibly even rebuilt
from the ground up. Either way, a veteran pro wrestling mind will be in
charge and that’s exactly what many fans have always wanted.

Maybe this will be the cornerstone moment that will change WWE for the
better. The company is indeed facing rough numbers, but they’re also
staring at a SmackDown Live debut on the FOX Network. Then there’s the fact that WWE is looking out at the busy pro wrestling landscape, which is about
to get even more crowded. That’s due to AEW, which will also make an impact on TV this fall. How could WWE remain the same while everything around the company changes?

Vince’s refusal to stand still is precisely what led WWE over WCW. McMahon knew that in order to grow, WWE had to evolve. The company could not
conduct business as usual while its rival was hammering them on a weekly
basis. Something had to give and Vince made it happen. Is that what WWE
fans are seeing right now?

Yes, all signs point to Vince McMahon finally getting the realization that
WWE needs to once again evolve. It does seem that he’s ready to allow
others to step in and make a difference. But if that is not the case, then
this new experiment will probably fail. Heyman and Bischoff are surely
excited about their new roles, just as fans are excited to see what will
happen next.

But the truth is that if Paul and Eric are met with resistance from day
one, then this will not work. Vince McMahon has to be willing to listen and
to let go, when it’s needed. There’s no way to know if Heyman and Bischoff will excel in their positions. But to not give them a real chance is to
once again admit that Vince already has all of the answers and simply
doesn’t need anyone else. That’s one part of this story that definitely seems to be false.

Backstage News On Paul Heyman And Eric Bischoffs Executive Roles

It had been previously reported that both Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff had been given Executive roles within WWE. Heyman is set to become the
Executive Director of Raw, while Bischoff will serve in the same role on Smackdown Live.

According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the official changes will be taking place around mid-July. Furthermore, these
two will be actual, real-life decision makers and not television
performers, who are playing the role.

Furthermore, according to a report from PWInsider, WWE and Heyman have been working on a deal to bring him into an executive role since February. In
the meantime, he had been working on certain storylines and with certain talents, including Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar and Alexa Bliss.

He is expected to continue as an on-screen character as Brock Lesnars
advocate.

The Bischoff deal came together within the last several weeks. He will be working directly with FOX, as WWE prepares to move Smackdown Live over
there in the Fall.

You would have to think that it will only be a matter of time before
Bischoff is back on screen as well. This is going to be amazing for
everyone involved.

The It Family is back! Earlier this week, WWE and the USA Network announced the return date of their hit reality series, Miz and Mrs., and will air the final episodes of the first season of the show.

Yes! I have to admit that I am a huge fan of this show and the hilarity

Breaking: Paul Heyman And Eric Bischoff Named WWE Executive Directors

Hes back. And so is he. According to a new report from Sports Illustrated, Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman have been named as Executive Directors for WWE television programming.

Heyman is set to become Executive Director of Raw, while Bischoff will fill the same role for SmackDown Live. Both will report directly to WWE Chairman
and CEO Vince McMahon.

Furthermore, the two positions are full-time executive roles, with no plans
at the current time for this to be introduced as part of a TV story line. Also, Bischoff will be working directly with executives from FOX, which
will air SmackDown Live beginning this October.

Heyman is best known as being the advocate for Brock Lesnar, who is the
current Money in the Bank contract holder, and almost guaranteed to be a
future world champion.

Bischoff is best known as being the mastermind behind WCW, who took professional wrestling to new heights in the late-90s, instigating the
Monday Night Wars with WWE. He would eventually be featured on WWE
programming in the early to mid 2000s, and has served in various capacities with the company ever since.

This is fantastic news. Its no secret that Bischoff and Heyman are two of
the greatest wrestling minds in the history of the industry, and their knowledge of the product, combined with their ability to keep tabs on what
