shot against Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak at next month’s Extreme
Rules. Nese lost the title to Gulak in a triple threat match at Stomping Ground which also involved Akira Tozawa. Nese pinned Tozawa to win the
title.
It was a heck of a match. Check out part of Nese vs. Tozawa for the title shot:

Opinion: This is the logical step and it’s nice to see Nese earning the
title shot rather than just being handed one. It lets us have a good match
to set up for the pay per view instead of having something set up because that’s what we’re supposed to do. Nese has improved drastically over the last few months and hopefully he can continue that at the pay per view
against Gulak.
Does Nese getting the title shot make sense? How will the match go? Let
us know in the comments below.

Its A Familiar One. What Happened Before This Weeks SmackDown Live?

Starting them up in the right way. There is a lot going on in any given
WWE television taping. All kinds of things take place that night and a
bunch of them are not seen on the actual television broadcast. There is
even wrestling that you won’t get to see, which almost always takes place before the show. That was the case again this week, even though it might
be something you’ve heard of before.
According to Wrestlinginc.com, the pre-show dark match before this week’s SmackDown Live saw Ali defeat Buddy Murphy. This is the same match that
took place before last week’s show as well. Ali has not wrestled on television since May 21 when he defeated Andrade on SmackDown Live. Murphy
was called up to SmackDown Live in the Superstar Shakeup and has yet to
wrestle on television for the show.
Ali has at least been active in the ring as of late. Check out one of his recent matches:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: For the life of me I have no idea why we’re stuck sitting around waiting on Murphy to debut. They’re having 2/3 falls matches and matches that restart after the break with more people added but they can’t get
Murphy out there for a squash? The same thing happened to multiple people
last year and this is the best they can do? Just do something with him or
send him back to 205 Live where he can at least work.
Have you liked Ali’s vignettes? Will Murphy debut on the show? Let us
know in the comments below.

RUMOR: He Rings A Bell. FOX Wants A WWE Legend For Weekly Studio Show.

Go with the familiar one. In less than four months, WWE is getting one of
its biggest deals in history as SmackDown Live moves over to FOX. This
opens the show up to the largest audience it has ever had and brings with
it several new opportunities. One such opportunity is a weekly studio show
on FOX Sports 1, and FOX already has an idea of who they want for the show.
According to WrestleVotes, FOX wants Jerry Lawler to be one of the faces of
the show. The idea behind the move is that Lawler is a familiar face and
voice to the WWE audience, which is what FOX wants for the show. At the
moment there is no word on who will be the primary host, though Renee Young
has been mentioned. The show will likely be starting up in early October
when SmackDown Live moves to FOX.
FOX has floated the idea to WWE about having Jerry “The King” Lawler as a main part of their WWE studio show that will begin once SmackDown moves
over in October. The feeling is that Lawler’s image & voice is a familiar one, thus something Fox Sports is looking for.

Lawler has been around for a long time. Check out a look at his life story: [This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: This makes perfect sense and I can’t imagine Lawler would turn
down an offer like this. Lawler is indeed someone who has been around for
a very long time and fans would indeed recognize his voice. It helps that Lawler is one of the better talkers in wrestling and can go on about
whatever topic you give to him without missing a beat. Lawler would be a
good option and he has worked with Young before.
Do you like the idea of Lawler in the role? Will you watch the studio
show? Let us know in the comments below.

(WATCH): Who Is Going To Stop Him? Independent Wrestler Stomps On WWE
Title Belt During Match.

Maybe you could call this an audition? There are a lot of wrestlers in the world and a lot of them don’t work for WWE. While a lot of them seem like that is their ultimate goal, there are some who are very happy without ever making it to WWE. That is the case with one wrestler mainly based out of Europe, but he took it a step further over the weekend with a literal stomp
on WWE.
On Sunday night at OTT (Ireland) WrestleRama 3, independent wrestler David Starr faced WWE United Kingdom Champion Walter in the show’s main event. During the match, Starr threw the title down and stomped on it, earning a positive reaction from the crowd. It also earned him a hard shot to the
face and a powerbomb from Walter, who went on to win the match. At the
moment, there is no rumor about Starr coming to NXT UK or any WWE promotion.
It was quite the reaction. Check out the stomp and ensuing attack:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: Starr is an interesting case as he seems rather happy wrestling
around the world rather than signing with one of the bigger companies.
That allows him to do things like this without many ramifications.
However, WWE might not be the most thrilled with the event and that could
go badly for promotions that want to book Starr in the future. Or it’s
just a big angle for a future NXT UK match.
Are you familiar with Starr? Will he sign with WWE? Let us know in the comments below.
