At the Halfway Point - We Rank the Top 10 WWE Matches of the Year So Far

HONORABLE MENTIONS
Asuka vs. Becky Lynch (WWE Royal Rumble) Its almost strange looking back
six months on this one, seeing where things were and how they turned out.
Becky may have won the Royal Rumble later in the night and continued her
run as the hottest thing in the game, but she lost to Asuka here on this
night, clean in the middle of the ring, tapping out on her back. They tore
the house down though, so its worth checking out.
Velveteen Dream vs. Tyler Breeze (NXT Takeover XXV) This one flew under
the radar a bit because it was surrounded by incredible matches well come
to later in our list, but on a personal level, I absolutely loved this
match. Breeze worked his ass off to prove he can still hang at the NXT
level and Dream showed a slightly different side of his personality working against him than some of his other recent offerings.
Andrade vs. Rey Mysterio (Smackdown Live, 1/15/2019) These two had a few
great matches on television earlier in the year, but for whatever reason it never fully materialized into the full-blown program with a major
pay-per-view match that fans were hoping for. Based on what they were able
to accomplish on TV though, its safe to say given a real spot on an
important card, they could tear the house down.
Grizzled Young Vets vs. Mustache Mountain (NXT Takeover UK) An honorable mention for the NXT UK division, which has been a really fun watch this
year, even if theyve had less opportunities to steal as many shows as their U.S. brethren. NXT UK made its highly anticipated Takeover debut to kick
off the year, and the boys from Mustache Mountain mixed it up with the
Grizzled Young Vets in what was easily the moust outstanding match of the evening.
War Raiders vs. The Undisputed Era (NXT Takeover: Phoenix) The War Raiders have controlled the tag team division for the majority of 2019 down in NXT,
and that reign of terror began in January with an awesome victory over Kyle OReilly and Bobby Fish of the Undisputed Era.

Kyle OReilly Pulled From This Weekends EVOLVE Shows in New York
Posted: 26 Jun 2019 06:00 AM PDT
https://www.prowrestling.com/kyle-oreilly-pulled-from-this-weekends-evolve-shows-in-new-york/
Kyle OReilly has been pulled from this weekends EVOLVE shows.
Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that the former NXT tag team champion is actually dealing with a staph infection, stemming from the stitches that he received following the wild Fatal 4-Way tag team ladder match back at NXT Takeover XXV.
The good news is that OReilly is only expected to be out of action for a
week or two, so he wont miss any television tapings. The bad news is, he definitely wont be ready to go in time for this weekends EVOLVE events in
New York.
WWE will be announcing a replacement shortly, and OReilly will still be available all weekend for meet-and-greet sessions along with Bobby Fish, Roderick Strong and Tommaso Ciampa, for those planning on attending the
shows live.

Kacy Catanzaro Reacts to Her Boyfriends Big Win at WWE Stomping Grounds
Posted: 26 Jun 2019 05:40 AM PDT
https://www.prowrestling.com/kacy-catanzaro-reacts-to-her-boyfriends-big-win-at-wwe-stomping-grounds/
The official WWE Performance Center channel has uploaded a great video from this past weekend, featuring NXT Superstar Kacy Catanzaro reacting to her boyfriend, Ricochet, winning his very first championship on the main roster.
Kacy watched Sunday nights Stomping Grounds pay-per-view with fellow
wrestlers Chelsea Green (formerly Hot Mess Laurel Van Ness) and Deonna Purrazzo. Cameras were focussed on the American Ninja Warrior sensation during the last few minutes of Ricochets excellent bout with Samoa Joe,
leading to him capturing the United States Championship for the first time.
Catanzaro was understandably emotional and teared up watching her boyfriend celebrate his championship victory, and even more so when Ricochet received
a standing ovation backstage from Universal Champion Seth Rollins and
several of his peers, as well as his NXT dad Triple H. It was also a cool moment for Ms. Green, as she is currently engaged to Zack Ryder, who was
shown backstage during the segment.
