(VIDEO): Twice As Bad. How Did Alexa Bliss Receive Back To Back
    Concussions?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 09:30 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/video-twice-bad-alexa-bliss-receive-back-back-concussions/

Ouch, but with a reason. Alexa Bliss is one of the most successful women
in the history of WWE with a long list of title reigns under her belt. Unfortunately she also has a long history of concussions, which have put
her career on hold multiple times. Bliss is currently healthy and back in
the ring, though now we know how two of her concussions took place in the
    first place.

In her new 365 WWE Network special, Bliss mentioned that two of her
concussions came at the hands of Ronda Rousey giving her headlock
takeovers. The first of these came at Hell In A Cell 2018, with the injury putting Bliss out of action for a few weeks. The second came at a live
event, with the second injury keeping her out of the ring until the Royal Rumble in January. Bliss says that she does not blame Rousey for the
    injuries.

And of course there’s a clip about it. Check out Bliss talking about the concussions:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: Bliss’ concussions have been a bad sign, but the fact that they
came from the same move from the same person says a lot about various
things. It doesn’t make Rousey look good but at the same time it doesn’t make Bliss look great because she can’t stay healthy, even with a basic
move. At least Bliss is healthy now though and that’s what matters more
    than anything else.

What do you think of Bliss? Who looks worse from this story? Let us know
    in the comments below.

The Path Forward. WWE Teases Brand New World Championship Feud.

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 09:26 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/path-forward-wwe-teases-brand-new-world-championship-feud/

I like where this is going. WWE is in a very busy state at the moment with
one show after another taking place. That means that they need to find
ways to fill up all those cards, which is easier said than done from a
creative perspective. There is only so much that can be done with so many shows, but as of Monday night we seem to have a new top story for a
    champion.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Samoa Joe attacked WWE Champion Kofi
Kingston, choking him out with the Koquina Clutch. Kingston had just
finished defeating Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in back to back matches when
Samoa Joe attacked. While nothing has been confirmed, there is a likely
chance that Samoa Joe could be challenging Kingston for the title at July’s Extreme Rules.

It’s quite the fight. Check out Samoa Joe’s attack on the champ:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: Works for me. Samoa Joe is still one of the best names in the
company as he has more intensity than almost anyone else and that’s enough
to give him a fighter’s chance. I don’t think he’ll win the title, but it’s awesome to see him getting put into this spot. If nothing else, he’s certainly more interesting and a better contender than Dolph Ziggler, who
seems to be gone again for the time being.

Do you like the feud? Who will wind up as champion? Let us know in the comments below.

An International Ban. WWE Adds A New Word To Its Banned List.

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 09:22 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/international-ban-wwe-adds-new-word-banned-list/

What’s the word? There are some very interesting quirks in WWE and a lot
of them come from Vince McMahon. Every now and then, he comes up with a
new group of words that the company is not allowed to say, with some of
them being a lot more of a stretch than others. Now though, there is
another name that the company isn’t going to use and it makes a little more sense.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is no longer
calling the Codebreaker by its signature name. The change comes now that
Chris Jericho is one of the top stars in AEW rather than WWE and WWE does
not want to give the other company attention. While Jericho did not invent
the move, the name is the best known of all the versions of the move.

The Codebreaker is still a popular move. Check out a rapid fire countdown
of the best of the move:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: At least this one makes sense. A lot of these moves make next to
no sense, with things like belts not being allowed. In this case at least, Jericho working somewhere else is a good excuse to do something else. It
also helps that the announcers can just say “knees to the face” or something like that to keep everything from sounding ridiculous. This
could be a lot worse and that’s better than a lot of the situations for WWE as of late.

Should WWE have banned the word? Will this make any difference? Let us
    know in the comments below.

Opinion: The Best Thing About WWE Right Now Is The 24/7 Championship

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 08:52 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/derekstoughton/opinion-best-thing-wwe-right-now-24-7-championship/

About one month ago, Mick Foley made his return to WWE programming and announced that the company would be introducing a new title. Called the
24/7 Championship, the title would be defended anytime, anywhere; 24 hours
    a day, 7 days a week.

Immediately, many stars, who would normally not have had the opportunity to shine on WWE TV, began to chase each other down and attempt to get the
pinfall that would award them the new prize.

Since its inception, the 24/7 Championship has been defended in remote locations, such as a golf course, on an airplane, and even at a wedding.

Showing shades of the Hardcore Championship of the Attitude Era, fans immediately became skeptical and thought that this would be a stupid and gimmicky title, that would be mishandled and booked in a terrible way.

But then, in perhaps a stroke of luck and/or genius, WWE decided to put the title on R-Truth. To say that his time with the title has been incredibly entertaining would be a vast understatement, and he has provided some of
the most fun and worthwhile segments on the show as of late.

Which is why, in my opinion, the best thing about WWE right now is the 24/7 Championship.

[This post contains video, click to play]

Now, to be fair, a lot of this has to do with R-Truth. Once again, he has
taken a gimmick that could have very easily been mishandled and poorly
booked, and turned it into something worth seeing every week. The segments
are always absolutely hilarious, and provide us with some of the most fun television that WWE produces on a weekly basis.

But, lets take a look at this. What are superstars like Titus ONeil, EC3, Cedric Alexander, Eric Young and others doing on WWE Programming right now? Absolutely nothing. The 24/7 Championship gives them an opportunity to be a part of something that could allow their careers to have a spark at any
moment, and gives them at least some brief television time each week, until they have the opportunity to be in more serious matches.

Not only that, but the WWE Universe is beginning to dig this as well. As of
the time of this column being written, the video of R-Truth winning back
the 24/7 Championship at Drake Mavericks wedding has over 4.5 million views. [This post contains video, click to play]

The formula is simple: provide entertaining and hilarious television, that
is unpredictable and wild, and people will buy in and get behind it. Its
    really not that complicated.

With the rise of AEW and the seemingly low morale in WWE right now, having
the 24/7 Championship be one of the best parts of your show might not necessarily be where the company wants to be. However, I will be very
excited whenever this title is featured, as I know that it will be comedic gold, and will provide entertaining and fun-filled television.

And that is best for business.

P.S. R-Truth deserves to have a world championship reign before his career
is over, for being able to take any storyline that he is given and make it work. Im just saying.

The Firefly Fun House Wasnt On Raw Tonight. Or Was It? (PHOTOS)

One of the most compelling ideas on WWE television as of late has been the vignettes featuring Bray Wyatt and the Firefly Fun House. The buzz that
    these segments have been gaining on social media has been incredible;
however, we didnt get one tonight on Raw.

But does that mean that the fun house wasnt there?

A couple of Wyatts characters in the fun house were cleverly hidden in backstage segments on Raw, including Abby the Witch and Mercy the Buzzard.
You can see pictures of this below (courtesy of @iAmFlair519 on Twitter):

    Editors Opinion:

Oh, WWE, you are very clever. I have a feeling that social media is going
to pick up on this week after week, on both Raw and Smackdown Live and will eventually lead to Wyatts imminent return in the very near future!

Major Tag Team Match feat. WWE Legend Announced For Extreme Rules 2019

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 08:10 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/derekstoughton/major-tag-team-match-feat-wwe-legend-announced-extreme-rules-2019/

Hes back. Earlier tonight on Raw, a WWE legend made his return to
television programming and immediately made his presence felt in a segment
with some of the top stars of the company.

The Undertaker helped Roman Reigns fend off an onslaught from Shane McMahon
and Drew McIntyre, and as a result, the four superstars will face each
other in a major tag team match at Extreme Rules 2019.

Reigns and The Undertaker will team up to take on the team of Shane McMahon
    and Drew McIntyre.

Check out what happened on the show:
[This post contains video, click to play]

    From WWE.com:
Few would expect The Deadman to willingly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with
The Big Dog, who took The Undertaker’s “Yard” at WrestleMania 33. And yet,
Reigns was as surprised as everyone in the WWE Universe when The Phenom
emerged on the June 24 edition of Raw to even the odds as Reigns absorbed a 2-on-1 beatdown at the hands of Shane-O-Mac and the imposing Scotsman.
McMahon and McIntyre incurred the wrath of The Undertaker that night, and
they could very well “Rest in Peace” at WWE Extreme Rules in Philadelphia.

    Editors Opinion:

I will never get tired of seeing the Dead Man. His matches have been hit or miss as of late, but his presence will always be awe inspiring, and
audiences will never get tired of seeing him.

What do you think of WWE legend, The Undertaker making his return to WWE?

(VIDEO): Hes Back. Undertaker Makes Surprise Return On Monday Night Raw
    And Saves Top Star.

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 06:34 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/video-hes-back-undertaker-makes-surprise-return-monday-night-raw-saves-top-star/

Well hello there. WWE’s television shows have not been doing well as of late. The viewership and ratings continue to fall with almost nothing that they do causing the numbers to go up, or even stay at the same place. One
of the tried and true methods is to bring in legends to help things out,
and that is exactly what took place during one of this week’s shows.

During a handicap match between Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre against
Roman Reigns on Monday Night Raw, the Undertaker returned to save Reigns. Undertaker attacked both McMahon and McIntyre but did nothing to Reigns.
This is Undertaker’s first appearance since Super ShowDown, where he
defeated Goldberg in a match that was filled with botches and was not well received.

Undertaker can still be intimidating. Check out his return to go after McIntyre and McMahon:

Opinion: Ignoring the fact that WWE needs to bring in legends to bolster
their show because their current stars aren’t doing so well, this was a
very cool moment with the gong going off serving as a legitimate surprise.
You can probably set up the tag match from here at Extreme Rules, but I’m almost scared of WWE putting McMahon over either of them as his rise to the
    top continues.

What did you think of the return? What will happen at Extreme Rules? Let
us know in the comments below.

The First Of Many. Major Championship(s) Match Set For Extreme Rules With Interesting Stipulations.

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 05:29 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/first-many-major-championships-match-set-extreme-rules-interesting-stipulations/

I guess it’s different. Stomping Grounds saw a card that went a big better than expected but it still wasn’t exactly the best received show in the world. Two of the major matches saw Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch
defeat Lacey Evans, while Seth Rollins defended the Universal Title against Baron Corbin in the main event. It turns out that we’re not done with
    either feud though.

This week on Monday Night Raw, Evans and Corbin challenged Rollins and
Lynch to a mixed tag at Extreme Rules. However, there are stipulations to
the match. If Rollins and Lynch win, Corbin and Evans can never face
either of them again. If Corbin and Evans win, they win both titles as the match is winners take all. Extreme Rules takes place on July 14 in Philadelphia.

A lot of it started here. Check out part of last night’s main event:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: It’s not like this one is a surprise as the two feud continuing
was kind of expected. These feuds have been one sided throughout yet for
some reason they’re both continuing. After this show is over we can move
on to the build to Summerslam, though I’m not sure how much of a story can
be built up to that show in so little time. The match could be good,
though that doesn’t make it the most interesting thing in the world.

Do you like this match? Who leaves with the titles? Let us know in the comments below.

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results - June 24, 2019

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 04:52 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/monday-night-raw-live-coverage-results-june-24-2019/

    Monday Night Raw

    Date: June 24, 2019

Location: Angel of the Winds Arena, Everett, Washington

Commentators: Michael Cole, Renee Young, Corey Graves

It’s the night after Stomping Grounds and given how things are looking at
the moment, I’m not sure how much that’s going to change the direction we’re going. Extreme Rules is in less than three weeks and there is a
strong chance that we’re looking either at rematches or matches that are so similar you won’t notice much of a difference. Let’s get to it.

Here’s Seth Rollins to get things going. Rollins says last night, Baron Corbin thought he was going to take the title from him, but here’s Becky Lynch to interrupt. Seth: “Hey, you kind of interrupted me.” Rollins talks about how Corbin tried to stack the deck but he didn’t know that Rollins
had the best backup on the planet. Becky: “I guess it pays to be the Man’s man.” Lynch recaps the evening between herself and Lacey Evans but Corbin’s music interrupts.

There’s no Corbin though as Evans runs in from behind to jump Becky. Now Corbin comes in and gets taken down with a Sling Blade. The Bexploder sends Lacey outside as well and the villains are left on the floor. Corbin tells
Seth to go make the Man a sandwich and Lacey threatens to hit them both
again. Lacey wants a mixed tag for Extreme Rules, which works for Becky,
but with a condition: after Baron and Lacey lose, neither get to face Seth
and Becky again. Actually hang on as Baron has an idea: both titles are on
the line and it’s winners take all.
    Daniel Bryan/Rowan/Revival vs. Usos/New Day

Elimination rules here with a fall getting rid of a team. Dawson tags
himself in to take Bryan’s place so New Day takes him down for a splash/legdrop combination. Rowan comes in and cleans house, including a
sitout Rock Bottom to Big E. The splash misses though and it’s Woods
kicking Bryan in the chest. Bryan sends him outside for the suicide shove
but it hits Dawson by mistake. Woods gets forearmed for his efforts and
Bryan adds a missile dropkick. The YES Kicks connect but Dawson elbows
Bryan by mistake, allowing Woods to roll Bryan up for the pin at 3:32.

The Shatter Machine gets rid of Woods at 4:03 and we take a break. Back
with the Usos hitting stereo dives, followed by a bell so the match is “officially” restarted.  Dawson grabs a powerslam on Jimmy, followed by a Steiner Bulldog (Renee: “Classic Revival!” Steiners, Revival, whatever.) for two. Dawson’s superplex hits Jimmy but Jey tags himself in and dives
off of Wilder’s back with a Superfly Splash to Dawson to steal the pin at 11:36.

Result: Usos/New Day b. Daniel Bryan/Rowan Superfly Splash to Dawson
    (11:36)

We recap Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns last night to set up tonight’s handicap match.

Earlier today, Braun Strowman pulled a 17,000lb tractor trailer. Tonight, it’s a tug of war against Bobby Lashley.

Here’s Miz for MizTV and we get straight to the guests: R-Truth/Carmella. Truth is nervous about getting inside but the 24/7 Title rules are
suspended during the course of the interview. Miz recaps the history of the title, including the pinfall at Drake Maverick’s wedding over the weekend. Miz: “Truth, A MAN’S WEDDING??? REALLY???” Truth talks about how he can’t
do anything in life without having to look over his shoulder. He can’t even have a picnic! WWE Superstars are showing up at his house dressed up as
police officers and telling him that his car is on fire.

Cue Maverick to say that winning the title was the biggest moment of his
career and his wedding was supposed to be the biggest day of his life.
Truth ruined everything and now his wife won’t talk to him. They haven’t even….you know. Truth: “Fiber is good for that!” Maverick wants a rematch right now. For the title, not his wedding. Miz gets word that the title
match can happen right now and all other competitors are banned from interfering. Truth grants Hornswoggle his match.
24/7 Title: R-Truth vs. Drake Maverick

Truth is defending and hits Little Jimmy to retain in 14 seconds.

Result: R-Truth b. Drake Maverick Little Jimmy (0:14)

Post match the mob comes out to give chase and Cedric Alexander hits the Neuralizer. No Way Jose makes the save though, allowing Truth and Carmella
to run. Drake is asked where he goes from here but can’t say anything.

    We recap the opening segment.

Evans and Corbin are ready to win at Extreme Rules. If they take out Lynch, they can take out Rollins.
Shane McMahon/Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns

Shane adds the twist of he and Drew not having to tag. Reigns punches Shane
in the face and we’re ready to go. A clothesline sends Drew to the floor as Cole again tries to get Big Dog Strong over. Drew pulls Roman outside to
save Shane and a whip into the corner puts Roman in trouble. The steps to
the face have Reigns in more trouble and the Claymore makes it worse.
Shane’s spear takes Reigns down and a second Claymore….doesn’t get a cover.
Shane loads up Coast to Coast…and UNDERTAKER is here. House is cleaned and we’ll say the match is thrown out at about 4:00.

Result: Shane McMahon/Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns went to a no contest
    when Undertaker interfered (4:00)

And now, a tug of war between Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman. Lashley
gets the early advantage and has Strowman at the line, but then Strowman smiles. Strowman pulls him over without much effort but Lashley jumps at
him and the beating is on. The rope goes around Strowman’s eyes and he
falls to the floor with Lashley beating him down.

AJ Styles tries to talk about Ricochet but No Way Jose’s conga line interrupts him. The Good Brothers have joined in but AJ tells them to take their match against the Viking Raiders more seriously. AJ wants to know
what happened to the guys he met in Japan but Gallows says they’re at the
    top of their game.
    Good Brothers vs. Viking Raiders

Anderson gets taken down to start with Erik slamming Ivar onto him. One
heck of a clothesline takes Ivar down and it’s Gallows coming in for a chinlock. The Boot of Doom gets two on Erik and the Good Brothers are
rather pleased. Ivar comes back in for the seated senton in the corner
though and a dive takes out Gallows. The Viking Experience finishes
Anderson at 3:20 as AJ is disgusted in the back.

Result: Viking Raiders b. Good Brothers Viking Experience to Anderson
    (3:20)

Nikki Cross apologizes to Alexa Bliss about last night. Bliss says it’s ok because she’s going to try to get a rematch against Bayley.

Post match Naomi and Natalya come in to see Cross, who doesn’t know what Bliss is all about. Bliss comes in and accuses them of talking about her
behind her back. That classic women’s dialogue sets up a match between
    Naomi and Bliss for tonight.
    Heath Slater vs. Mojo Rawley

Hang on though as Truth and the mob come through the crowd. Kalisto gets backdropped onto a bunch of peopleand Slater hits a neckbreaker to pin
    Truth and win the title.

And then Slater walks into the Little Jimmy to give Truth the title back.

And then Cedric Alexander hits a Lumbar Check on Truth to win the title.

And then EC3 hits the 1%er on the floor to win the title.

And then Carmella comes out to distract EC3 so Truth can roll him up and
win the title for the ninth time.

We look back at Ricochet winning the US Title last night.

Ricochet talks about working hard to win the title but tonight he’s facing someone he’s looked up to for his entire career in AJ Styles.

Here’s Kofi Kingston for a chat but Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens cut him off
for a quick interview. Why is he here, who does he think he is and why
won’t he leave? Sami wants to know why Kofi’s entire identity as WWE Champion is having New Day save him. The New Day that Sami and Kevin
DESTROYED last night. Kofi talks about New Day being a brotherhood that
nobody can break and brings up beating Owens at Money in the Bank. Sami
gets invited to the ring to take another Trouble in Paradise right now.
    Kofi Kingston vs. Sami Zayn

Non-title and this was announced earlier in the show. Kofi takes him down
for an early splash before grabbing a headlock. The top rope forearm to the head sets up the Boom Drop but Trouble in Paradise misses. Sami kicks him
in the ribs to take over and Owens gets in a few shots of his own.

Back in and Kofi fights back with some right hands but charges into the exploder into the corner. The Michinoku Driver gets two but Kofi is right
back with his jumping double stomp. Sami makes another comeback and tries
the Blue Thunder Bomb, which is reversed into a rollup to give Kofi the pin
    at 8:12.

Result: Kofi Kingston b. Sami Zayn Rollup (8:12)

Post match Owens says he wants a shot and Kofi comes back to the ring.
    Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens

Non-title again. Sami’s early distraction lets Owens go up for the Swanton, which hits raised knees. A superkick gives Owens two and they head outside
with Owens trying the apron powerbomb. Kofi reverses and hits an SOS (with
a NASTY landing on the ramp) for the rather fast countout at 1:34.

Result: Kofi Kingston b. Kevin Owens via countout (1:34)

Post match Kofi sends Sami to the floor and hits the big dive onto both of them. Kofi poses but Samoa Joe jumps Kofi from behind. A Rock Bottom plants Kofi on the stage and Joe glares down at Kofi. Joe leaves but runs back out
to put Kofi in the Koquina Clutch.

For Extreme Rules: Undertaker/Reigns vs. McMahon/McIntyre.
    Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss

Cross is here with Bliss. Naomi starts with the splits and a little
gyrating on the mat, only to be pulled down by the hair. Back up and Naomi
gets her own takedown, setting up the splits splash. Naomi baseball slides Nikki by mistake, with the distraction being enough for Bliss to hit the
DDT for the pin at 1:15.

Result: Alexa Bliss b. Naomi DDT (1:15)

Post match Bliss beats Naomi down and has Nikki help her but Natalya runs
    in for the save.
    Natalya/Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss/Nikki Cross

Natalya drives Bliss into the corner to start and it’s off to Naomi for a full nelson. It’s already back to Natalya but a distraction lets Bliss take her down into a chinlock. That doesn’t last long as Natalya pops up with
