Ring of Honor has issued the following:

SILAS YOUNG FACES JOSH WOODS IN PHILADELPHIA

Silas Young has been boasting that he’s the best technical wrestler in ROH, and he’ll have an opportunity to back up that claim when he takes on Josh Woods at the Best in the World international television taping in
Philadelphia on June 29.

In Woods, Young will be facing a former collegiate wrestling champion. In addition to Woods’ outstanding amateur wrestling credentials, he also possesses a background in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Moreover, Woods is always “DTF” (down to fight).

Since winning the Top Prospect Tournament in 2017, Woods has dominated less-heralded competition and more then held his own against some of the
best wrestlers in the sport. He scored a victory over current ROH World Television Champion Shane Taylor last year and pushed Mark Briscoe to the
limit earlier this month.

While Young is indeed a skilled technical wrestler, he has been making a mockery of the “pure” style. The two-time former ROH World Champion used underhanded tactics to score two tainted victories over technical wrestling master Jonathan Gresham, and he also has been putting on farcical
scientific wrestling exhibitions (while smoking a cigarette, no less).

Will Woods beat some respect into Young? Or will Young deliver a wrestling lesson to the rising young star?

Nikki Bella Reveals Why She Was Forced To Retire From WWE; Claims Bella

Nikki and Brie Bella made an appearance on The Tonight Show this Wednesday evening with host Jimmy Fallon, a long-time friend of the WWE, and
discussed everything from their recent in-ring retirement to the
controversial finale of HBOs Game of Thrones (which Nikki apparently
spoiled for BOTH of their significant others).

During the sit-down interview, Nikki revealed the real reason why she was forced to retire from professional wrestling earlier this year and it
turns out, it actually wasnt her choice at all.

It has been well-documented that the former Divas Champion has had a series
of neck problems, including a major surgery in 2015 that ended up being a
major focus of the Total Divas series and eventual Total Bellas spinoff.

Nikki would of course return to the ring for several part-time stints
including a high-profile intergender tag team match teaming up with
ex-fiance John Cena against The Miz and Maryse, who now have their very own
hit reality series, Miz & Mrs. on the USA network.

Her final televised match took place just last year, when she
unsuccessfully challenged Ronda Rousey for the Raw Womens Championship in
the main event of the historic WWE Evolution all-womens PPV event. She
would also return to the ring for a series of non-televised WWE Live event matches across Europe the following month, taking on Rousey and Natalya in
what would be her real final matches in the ring.

While on The Tonight Show, Nikki revealed that her and her sister Brie were actually considering making a comeback earlier this year in order to fight
for the newly minted WWE Womens Tag Team Championships, but a check-up with
the medical team revealed severe complications that would ultimately end
her wrestling career.

I really wanted to go back and fight for the tag titles. Ive always had my
neck issues, and after neck surgery it hasnt been okay. I feel like I
needed to get that check-up before we went back for the tag titles, and
then it came back and I have a herniated disc above where I had surgery. I
have all this inflammation around the metal, and I have a cyst on my brain. They were like, Youre done! I didnt get a choice.

Colt Cabana Reportedly Pulled From Bookings Due To Injury

PWInisder is reporting that NWA National Champion Colt Cabana has pulled himself from numerous bookings to recover from a hematoma on his quadricep.
The injury reportedly occurred two weeks ago.

There is no word on how the injury will effect the scheduled tag match
between Cabana & Nick Aldis vs. The Briscoes at Ring of Honors upcoming
Best In The World pay-per-view later this month.

On Saturday night July 6 Ross and Marshall Von Erich will make their
Chicago debut as they go to war against the shadowy cabal known as the
CONTRA Unit in an unsanctioned match.

MLW today announced Marshall & Ross Von Erich vs. CONTRA Units Simon Gotch
& Josef Samael in an unsanctioned match for MLW: Kings of Colosseum at Cicero Stadium in Chicago. The event is a TV taping for beIN SPORTS on
Saturday night July 6th with a 7 p.m. bell time.

Tickets start at $10 at http://www.MLWTickets.com.

The league wants nothing to do with CONTRA, said MLW CEO Court Bauer. But
since Ross and Marshall Von Erich want to help with our infestation
problem, I feel obliged to honor their request but legally this is an unsanctioned match.

The group identifying itself as CONTRA Unit are not under contract yet have disrupted several MLW events dating since March 1.

Since March, CONTRA Unit has terrorized Major League Wrestling with their campaign of violence to disrupt and destroy the league and its wrestlers.
From attacking Filthy Tom Lawlor in a steel cage to leaving Low Ki laying
to launching a fireball in the face of Rey Fenix, no one has been safe.

As the saga between Lawlor and CONTRA continued to escalate, Lawlor found himself in need of some back-up.

Enter the Von Erich boys.

Having just been signed by MLW, Lawlor made a call to the 3rd generation grapplers and asked if theyd join up in his fight against CONTRA.  Ross and Marshall wasted no time in agreeing to join up in Lawlor and MLWs fight
against CONTRA.

With their first battle in Milwaukee being one of the wildest encounters in
MLW history, the Von Erichs stormed MLW and pushed CONTRA to the edge in a match that will air this coming week on FUSION.

Now the battle continues on at Cicero Stadium on July 6 as the Von Erichs
fight CONTRAs Simon Gotch and Josef Samael in what is guaranteed to be
another wild affair.

AJ Styles Set To Return To In-Ring Action Next Week

The in-ring return of AJ Styles is slated to take place next week following
a brief absence due to injury, with the Phenomenal One advertised for dates.

AJ has been out of action since the May 27th episode of WWE Raw when he was pulled from a fatal four-way match, but he is now being advertised for
shows again.

AJ is not advertised for this weekends live events and isnt expected to
compete at WWE Stomping Grounds, but he is advertised for next weeks tour
in Asia, starting with Thursdays Singapore date.

Aj is advertised for all Raw live events following the Asia tour as well,
so there is a good chance he could be back in the ring on Raw next week.

Lars Sullivan Reportedly Out Of Action For 6-9 Months

According to a report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Lars
Sullivan could be set to miss between 6-9 months of in-ring action due to injury.

The Freak suffered a knee injury during his victory against Lucha House
Party on June 10 and hasnt been seen on WWE television since with his
planned singles match against Matt Hardy for the following SmackDown having
to be cancelled.

According to Meltzer, the injury could be worse than first feared:

“Sullivan’s knee injury reported on last week was worse than anticipated but we don’t know more details than that. He underwent an MRI during the week. The only stuff we’ve heard is that the company believes he will be
out six to nine months.”

WWE Hall Of Famer, Edge has weighed in on WWE scripting promos, giving the positives and negatives to WWE scripting them and not letting talent be creative.

On his latest E&C Pod Of Awesomeness, Edge spoke about the situation,
stating:

”Because you’re a publicly traded company; it’s FOX; it’s USA[Network]; it’s all of these things, so I get that side of it.” Edge also understands the aspect if things were so heavily scripted then you don’t get classic promos such as ”the Macho Man [Randy Savage] ‘cream of the crop’ promo, I don’t think. You wouldn’t get ‘Austin 3:16’, I don’t think.” Edge added, “I
get both sides, I guess is what I’m saying.”

WWE Raw Superstar, Mojo Rawley recently spoke with WrestlingAc.com about
his brand new face paint and what it means and stands for. Below is a
highlight from the interview with a H/T to WrestlingInc.com for the transcriptions.

Ive had a lot of time to reflect recently and thats kind of what Im going through on Monday Night RAW right now, Rawley stated. Everybody goes home
at the end of the day and looks at themselves in the mirror and sometimes
they see things that they want to see that they like, and sometimes they
see some things that they dont like. Right now, I have a lot of work to do
in my career. I have a lot of things that Im willing to accomplish that I havent yet. Ive had some success but its not a life for me, and thats what
this is about. I have the face paint on that represents the shattered
glass breaking the mirror and bringing that out in to reality.
