Oh Dear. Former Impact Wrestling Star Now On Most Wanted List.

    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 01:30 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/oh-dear-former-impact-wrestling-star-now-wanted-list/

There is very little good in this. The wrestling business has interesting characters in that they have to be a combination of performers as well as regular people, which is a lot harder than some people have it. As
difficult as it is, it is often more than some people can handle. You will occasionally hear about wrestlers having legal issues and that is the case again.

According to the El Paso Times, former Impact Wrestling star Rhaka Khan has appeared on the most wanted list in El Paso, Texas. There are very few
details about the situation other than Khan’s physical description and what she is wanted for: interference with child custody. Khan has not wrestled since 2011 at a Lucha Libre USA event and worked for Impact from 2008-2009.

Khan had some impressive friends. Check out her Impact debut:

Opinion: This is one of those things that you don’t hear about very often
and that’s a good thing. I have no idea what happened with Khan but hopefully she didn’t do what she is accused of and no one was harmed if she did. Khan was never a big star in wrestling but she certainly got noticed while she did, which isn’t quite the surprise given how she looks and how
she worked in the ring. Hopefully this gets cleared up in a hurry.

What do you remember about Khan? Could she have been a bigger star? Let
us know in the comments below.

(VIDEO): His Resume Keeps Growing. Batista To Be A Playable Character In
    Major Video Game Series.

    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 01:26 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/video-resume-keeps-growing-batista-playable-character-major-video-game-series/

That’s a pretty big accomplishment. Wrestlers are a strange kind of entertainers as they have to perform live while working off a script and
also having to be able to do a lot of physical actions at the same time.
That makes it rather difficult to pull off at once, but it also makes for
some impressive resumes. Therefore, it isn’t all that surprising when a former wrestler gets a part in a big media franchise, which is the cage
    again.

Former WWE Champion Dave Batista has announced that he will be a playable character in the new Gears of War 5 game, which is set to be released on September 6 of this year, though Batista will not be available as a
character until September 15, after Clash of Champions. Batista made the announcement in a video on Twitter, which features him in the suit his character wears in the game. This is Batista’s first appearance in the
    Gears of War series.

Welcome to the series. Check out Batista’s announcement:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: Batista’s acting career continues to impress me as a lot of wrestlers try to do something like this and wind up in a bunch of B action movies that don’t go anywhere. Batista has been in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a James Bond movie and now this, plus having a few starring roles
of his own. That’s quite the resume and he has carved out a nice niche for himself.

What is your favorite Batista role? Would you like to see him appear in
WWE again? Let us know in the comments below.

VIDEO UPDATE: There Is A Backup Plan. AEW Has A Way Around The Stolen
Title Belt, Chris Jericho Comments On Situation.

    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 01:17 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/video-update-backup-plan-aew-way-around-stolen-title-belt-chris-jericho-comments-situation/

That’s quite the break. Earlier today, it was reported that new AEW World Champion Chris Jericho had lost the AEW title belt. That’s quite the
problem to have as the belt has only been his for a few days, though it
appears to have been stolen from the airport. Either way, that is kind of
a serious problem for the company to have, but things are already looking a
    bit better.

According to Bryan Alvarez via Twitter, AEW has a second title belt in
place for just such an emergency, meaning that there should be no problem before their upcoming TNT debut on October 2. The title was reported
missing from Jericho’s limo after it returned to pick him up from a
Longhorn Steakhouse in Tallahassee, Florida. AEW has released a video on
the incident, with Jericho discussing the missing belt. There is nothing
to suggest that this is part of a storyline.

They have a second one. https://t.co/MZOWCM6RzS

    - Bryan Alvarez (@bryanalvarez) September 3, 2019

Of course Jericho is talking about it. Check out his response to the
    incident:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: It’s a very good sign that AEW was smart enough to think of something like this in advance. Even fit eh title wasn’t stolen, there was
a chance that it could have been dropped or broken in some way so having an extra belt for an emergency is common sense. Thankfully they have that and even if the title is never found, they can have a way around the problem.

Who should get the first show at Jericho? Who will take the title off of
him? Let us know in the comments below.

RUMOR: Thats Never Good To Hear. Popular NXT Star "Banged Up" At The
    Moment.

    Posted: 04 Sep 2019 01:14 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/thats-never-good-hear-popular-nxt-star-banged-moment/

It’s going to happen to everyone at some point. Wrestling is a physical sport and that is going to cause an injury at one point or another. Some
of these might be worse than others but they are going to happen to
everyone at some point in their careers. If the wrestler is in luck, it
might not be as serious as it could be and they can get by with some rest.
That might be the case with a current NXT star.

According to Casey Michael of Squared Circle Sirens, NXT’s Candice LeRae is currently “banged up”. There is no word on how bad LeRae’s condition is or
if she is expected to miss any ring time. Her most recent match was at NXT Takeover: Toronto on August 10 and she did not wrestle at the following television tapings. There is no word on if she will be wrestling on the upcoming NXT episodes when the show moves to USA.

From why I’m told Candice LeRae is “banged up” but that’s the only details
    I really have right now.

    - Casey Michael (@ifyouseekcasey) September 3, 2019

LeRae is good when she’s healthy. Check her out against a fellow WWE wife: [This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: That’s never good to hear but it seems that LeRae isn’t seriously injured. If it’s just wear and tear from a few harder matches, there is nothing wrong with letting her sit out a bit and heal up. When NXT moves
over to USA they are going to need every hand that they have and putting someone as popular as LeRae out there is only going to do good things for
    the show.

How big of a star can LeRae be? When will she be NXT Women’s Champion?

It Makes Some Sense. Heres Why The Monday Night Raw King Of The Ring
Semifinal Will Be A Triple Threat.

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 07:48 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/makes-sense-heres-monday-night-raw-king-ring-semifinal-will-triple-threat/

At least that makes some more sense. The King of the Ring tournament is in full swing at the moment with a majority of the matches already having
taken place. With so many names already having been eliminated, the field
is down to a much more manageable size. However, one of the semifinals is going to be a bit bigger than usual and it turns out that there is a good reason why.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the Monday Night Raw King of the Ring semifinal is a triple threat match for the sake of
promoting Ricochet. The match, which will take place in Madison Square
Garden, will see Ricochet facing two monsters in Samoa Joe and Baron
Corbin, meaning a strong performance would give Ricochet a big rub. This
does not mean that Ricochet is going to win the match however.

It took a heck of a match to get there. Check out Ricochet vs. Samoa Joe: [This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I can go for something like this, but at the same time it doesn’t matter all that much if Ricochet doesn’t win. Just having him in the match and not winning puts him on the same level as whomever else gets pinned. Ricochet is someone who could be a big deal after the tournament, but a
loss in the semifinals isn’t going to be enough to get him to the next
    level.

Do you like the idea of King Ricochet? Who do you think wins the
tournament? Let us know in the comments below.

One From The Other Side. New Non-Title Match Announced For Clash Of
    Champions.

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 05:56 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/one-side-new-non-title-match-announced-clash-champions/

That’s the next logical step for the Clash. Over the last several weeks,
one of the biggest stories in WWE has been the attacks on Roman Reigns.
Someone has been trying to take Reigns out but it isn’t clear who is behind it. This has created a rather big whodunit story with a few different
leads. Last week on SmackDown Live, a video showed someone specifically
being involved and now Reigns is getting a chance for some revenge.

As announced on WWE.com, Reigns will face Erick Rowan, who was shown in the video last week, at Clash of Champions. Rowan and Daniel Bryan have been
two of the main suspects in the attacks, though both denied any involvement until last week. The reveal of Rowan in the video caused Bryan to turn on
him, though Reigns speared Bryan to end the show anyway.

Reigns didn’t buy it. Check out what led to the match:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This makes sense as the build towards what is likely Bryan vs.
Reigns continues. WWE has not run a story in this way for a very long time
and it’s kind of interesting to see them go in a different direction. That’s something that can make for a nice change of pace, which is
certainly something WWE could use at the moment. Maybe it won’t work in
the end, but at least they’re trying.

Do you like the story so far? Where does it go next? Let us know in the comments below.

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results - September 3, 2019

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 05:01 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/smackdown-live-coverage-results-september-3-2019/

    Smackdown

    Date: September 3, 2019

Location: Norfolk Scope Arena, Norfolk, Virginia

Commentators: Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton

The King of the Ring rolls on with another two quarterfinal matches. Unlike
Raw last night, hopefully that means we can get all the way down to two semifinalists instead of three because Smackdown might be smarter than
that. Otherwise, it’s time for another level of pushing towards Clash of Champions, which is sneaking up on us. Let’s get to it.

We open with a recap of Sasha Banks returning and Bayley turning on Becky
Lynch to join her last night.

Here’s Bayley to open things up with her usual entrance, including the tube men. The fans are rather happy to see her after what she did. Bayley
doesn’t understand what people expected because she gives her whole heart
out there very time. She wants the fans to feel the way she did when she
was a kid and she’s trying to show the younger fans what it means to be loyal. That’s why she had Sasha’s back last night when it got rough.

She’ll prove that when she beats the selfish Charlotte at Clash of
Champions, so here’s Charlotte to interrupt. Charlotte admits to being selfish but what you see is what you get. There is no hugging so Bayley
should hug the title goodbye. Cue Sasha so Charlotte decks Bayley before fighting Banks. Bayley comes in with the chair though and they both beat Charlotte down.
King of the Ring Quarterfinals: Elias vs. Ali

Elias says being the biggest acquisition in Smackdown history isn’t enough
so he wants to be King. Ali starts fast with some early near falls and a spinwheel kick sends Elias outside. The suicide dive is blocked though and Elias tosses him with a release suplex on the floor. Ali gets sent face
first into the barricade and then over the barricade as we take a break.
Back with Ali sending Elias outside and the second suicide dive attempt connects. The landing bangs up Elias’ arm so Ali hits a 450 onto the arm.

A headscissors into a Crossface continues the arm work but Elias gets out
in a hurry. Elias manages a sitout powerbomb for two before grabbing a
Stretch Muffler on the leg, complete with some stomps to the head. Ali
heads outside and has to superkick a diving Elias out of the air. Back in
and Ali misses the 450 (slowed down because of the leg) and a knee to the
leg makes it even worse. Drift Away finishes Ali at 11:27.

Result: Elias b. Ali Drift Away (11:27)

Elias plays some guitar while sitting on the throne.

Samoa Joe promises to become king and make everyone bend a knee.

Aleister Black takes off his tie and says if the mountain isn’t coming to him, he’s coming to the mountain. He’s going to the ring to see if anyone is man enough to pick a fight with him.
Fire & Desire vs. Alexa Bliss/Nikki Cross

Non-title and the result of an argument over who can take better photos.
Cross gets caught in the wrong corner to start but manages to knock Deville
out to the floor. A dropkick puts Mandy out there with her and a big dive
from Cross sends us to a break. Back with Mandy shouting about how Cross
will never look like her. That’s enough for Cross to fight over for the tag to Alexa and everything breaks down. Cross slips out of a double underhook
from Mandy, leaving Bliss to DDT Deville. Twisted Bliss hits knees though
and it’s back to Mandy for a High/Low and the pin at 6:56.

    Result: Fire & Desire b. Alexa Bliss/Nikki Cross High/Low to Bliss (6:56)

Samoa Joe comes up to Chad Gable and makes short jokes about him, which he knows hurts Gable. That’s because Gable is weak mentally and there is no
room for that in the kingdom.

Here’s Randy Orton to talk about how he caught Kofi Kingston last week. The best part was that sweet sound of Kofi’s head bouncing off the floor. For weeks now, Orton has destroyed the power of positivity and if you don’t believe him, here’s a highlight package of Orton taking out New Day. Orton wants to face Kofi right now so here’s Kofiwith the Revival beating him up. They get him into the ring so Orton can do his circle stomp, while calling
Kofi stupid on every boot. Orton takes too long spelling out RKO and Kofi
gets in a few shots but Revival takes him down again. The super RKO plants Kofi.

Video on Erick Rowan being shown as helping in the attack on Roman Reigns. Rowan vs. Reigns is set for Clash of Champions.
King of the Ring Quarterfinals: Chad Gable vs. Andrade

Before the match, Zelina Vega says that she has nothing but respect for
another vertically challenged superstar. She could see Gable winning the tournament if Andrade wasn’t in it, but he is so Gable has no chance. Gable wastes no time in wrestling Andrade down and a sunset flip out of the
corner gets two. A monkey flip sends Andrade down but a second attempt is dumped to the floor as we take a break. Back with Gable getting two off a
wrist clutch chickenwing suplex but Andrade’s Alberto double stomp gets the same.

Three Amigos, with an Eddie dance, are broken up and it’s Gable rolling
some German suplexes. Andrade is right back with the third suplex but the double moonsault hits knees. Gable hits a moonsault of his own for two and Rolling Chaos Theory connects….with Vega distracting the referee to break
up a cover. That’s enough for Andrade to hit a rolling elbow to the face
but the hammerlock DDT is countered into a sunset flip for the pin at 7:56
    and a BIG reaction.

Result: Chad Gable b. Andrade Sunset flip (7:56)
    Aleister Black vs. Shelton Benjamin

Open challenge from Black, who sits down to start and misses an early Black Mass attempt. A knee to the face sends Shelton outside instead but he gets
in his own knee to rock Black. Back in and Black Mass finishes Benjamin at 1:53.

Result: Aleister Black b. Shelton Benjamin Black Mass (1:53)

Drake Maverick and his wife hide in the boiler room and a bunch of people happen to be waiting for him. Bo Dallas manages to pin him for the title
    and the chase continues.

Here are Shinsuke Nakamura and Sami Zayn for a chat but Sami cuts the music
so the fans can’t sing along. For now though, we’ll settle for this. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. ???

Non-title with Sami on a live mic at ringside. The kicks to the face have
the unnamed jobber in trouble but he punches Nakamura in the corner. That
earns him a bunch of knees to the ribs and kicks to the face, plus the
running knee to the ribs. Kinshasa finishes at 1:14.

    Result: Shinsuke Nakamura b. ??? Kinshasa (1:14)

Post match the B Team runs into the ring with the title but here are the
Singh Brothers and Kalisto. Drake Mavericks rolls Dallas up for the title…..but R-Truth is disguised as a guard next to the throne and wins the title for the fourteenth time.

Here’s Daniel Bryan to demand an apology from Roman Reigns. The fans rather approve of Bryan, who thinks it means they finally understand him. People
think that Bryan is guilty by association but now we know he had nothing to
do with it. Bryan has never lied to anyone and he hates liars of all kinds. Therefore he wants and gets Reigns out here but Erick Rowan jumps Reigns
from behind. A powerbomb sends Reigns into the post and the claw slam makes
    it even worse.

Rowan grabs the mic and says Daniel had nothing to do with this. He yells
at Bryan for thinking he can control Rowan and offers to fight Bryan right
now. Come slap him again like he did last week. Bryan isn’t sure what to do so Rowan talks about being proud of what he did to attack Reigns, which included attacking him with the car. What makes him most proud though is
the pain that Reigns is going to feel at Clash of Champions. Rowan throws
him outside and hits him with the steps, drawing Bryan over to slap Rowan again. The claw slam puts Bryan through the table to end the show.

    Results

Elias b. Ali – Drift Away

    Fire & Desire b. Alexa Bliss/Nikki Cross – High/Low to Bliss

Chad Gable b. Andrade – Sunset flip

Aleister Black b. Shelton Benjamin – Black Mass

    Shinsuke Nakamura b. ??? – Kinshasa

(VIDEO): The History Is Strong. The Intercontinental Title By The Numbers
    At Forty Years.

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 04:59 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/video-history-strong-intercontinental-title-numbers-forty-years/

The title is worth some history. The Intercontinental Title is one of the
most important championships in wrestling history. Over the years, dozens
of future World Champions and Hall of Famers have held the title, which has become known as the workrate title for its incredible matches. The title debuted forty years ago this past Sunday and WWE knows how to celebrate something like that.

WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube page, looking at the history of
the Intercontinental Title by the numbers. The video includes historical
stats and records, with a look at some of the most important and successful champions over the title’s history. Also included is a look at some trivia about the title wins themselves. This is the same kind of video that WWE releases every year for the Royal Rumble.

I could watch this kind of thing every day. Check out the title by the numbers:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is the kind of thing that never gets old for me as you can
never hear all of the history that the title has. It has changed the
careers of a long list of legends and jump started even more. It’s rather cool that the title is getting the attention that it deserves, though I
could go for some more of the extra old school stuff, with less of the 90s
    that WWE is focusing on.

Who is your favorite Intercontinental Champion? Who will win the title
next? Let us know in the comments below.

    Posted: 03 Sep 2019 03:55 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/main-event-results-august-29-2019/

    Main Event

    Date: August 29, 2019

Location: Smoothie King Center, New Orleans, Louisiana

    Commentators: Renee Young, Byron Saxton

For once, this is kind of nice for a change as we’re fresh off the
wrestling marathon weekend with three major shows from three different companies so I can barely remember what happened on Raw and Smackdown other than some King of the Ring stuff. That’s what a recap show is for so I
wonder if it’s going to actually work. Let’s get to it.

    Opening sequence.
    Lacey Evans vs. Dana Brooke

We go old school with a test of strength to start but Lacey’s cheap shot completely fails. Lacey gets thrown down and needs a time out on the floor, which goes as well as you would expect. Back in and Lacey hits a pair of
knees to the back, meaning it’s already time for the chinlock.

With that broken up, Lacey chokes in the ring skirt and drives some more
knees into the back. The tissue gets on Brooke’s nerves and she rolls into
a clothesline to drop Lacey. The cartwheel splash gets two and a powerbomb
out of the corner is good for the same, only to have Lacey go to the eyes. That’s enough to set up the Woman’s Right for the pin at 6:00.

Result: Lacey Evans b. Dana Brooke Womans Right (6:00)

Video on Sasha Banks attacking Natalya two weeks in a row.

    From Raw.

Here’s Sasha Banks for a chat, but first we see a recap of Banks attacking Natalya (twice) and Becky Lynch. So why did Banks do it? She worked so hard
to get where she is over the years and then took her Wrestlemania paycheck
to take a much needed vacation. That was the same Wrestlemania where Becky
main evented the show for so much more money without putting in the work.
Sasha is back because she runs the division because she is the talk of the division. Now she’s back to deserve all the glory but here’s Natalya for the brawl. Officials and agents need some time to break it up.

    From later on Raw.
    Sasha Banks vs. Natalya

Natalya, with a bad arm, comes straight at her to start and they brawl to
the floor early on. Back in and Natalya keeps hammering away, setting up a release German suplex (Sasha landed hard) for two. Banks tries to get to
the floor and manages to wrap the bad arm around the post. A whip into the timekeeper’s area and then the post has Natalya in trouble. The arm gets pulled around the middle rope but Banks misses the running knees in the
corner. The Sharpshooter doesn’t work and Banks gets in the Bank Statement, complete with pulling the bad arm around Natalya’s throat for the tap at 4:00.

Result: Sasha Banks b. Natalya Bank Statement (4:00)

    The fallout didnt go well:

    Clash of Champions rundown.

    From Raw again.
US Title: AJ Styles vs. Braun Strowman

Styles is defending and the OC is barred from ringside. Strowman throws him over the top almost immediately and it’s time for the running shoulders around the ring. Back in and the Phenomenal Forearm is countered into a chokeslam for two with AJ having to put his foot on the rope. A big boot
puts AJ on the floor and we take a break. Back with AJ grabbing a sleeper
to take Strowman down to a knee. That’s broken up with a ram into the
corner but AJ chop blocks the leg in a smart move. A Lionsault gives AJ two
and it’s off to the Calf Crusher in a logical move.

Strowman powers out of it and knocks AJ down again but a missed charge
sends Strowman shoulder first into the post. AJ hits Strowman in the back
to send the referee outside, allowing a low blow to take Strowman down. A
chair is brought in but Strowman hits the powerslam, only to have the OC
come in for the beatdown. Strowman fights back with the chair but AJ does
the old Eddie Guerrero drop down. The referee says he HEARD the chair shots
    and that’s a DQ at 9:56.

Result: AJ Styles b. Braun Strowman via DQ when the referee heard chair
    shots (9:56)

Thats going to open up some historical issues:
