Its Not The Obvious Reason. Rumor Killer On Undertakers Return To Madison Square Garden.

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 11:17 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/not-obvious-reason-rumor-killer-undertakers-return-madison-square-garden/

It’s not what you might have thought. Back in the old days of wrestling, every promotion had what was considered its home arena. Wherever else they would put on shows, it was that one arena that meant the most to them and
their fans. Those days are mostly gone, but WWE still has its home of
Madison Square Garden. WWE is heading back there in September and a legend
is going to be on the show, but not for the reason you expect.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Undertaker is going to be appearing at the upcoming September 14 SmackDown Live in Madison Square
Garden, but it is not due to issues of low ticket sales. Undertaker’s appearance on the card has been set up for a long time now and would have happened whether the ticket sales continued to be low or not. His most
recent match took place at Extreme Rules on July 14.

Undertaker has a history in the Garden. Check out his appearance there
    last year:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I don’t know if Undertaker is going to be there for the same of boosting bad ticket sales but I can’t imagine WWE is going to be
complaining about the extra tickets he helps move. Undertaker is one of
the few true legends in modern wrestling and fans understand that he is not likely to be around much longer so getting to see him while they can is a priority.

What do you want to see Undertaker do? When will he eventually retire?

Welcome Home. Former World Champion Returning To Impact Wrestling.

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 10:51 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/welcome-home-former-world-champion-returning-impact-wrestling/

Nice to see you again. While it might not be the most popular wrestling promotion in the world, Impact Wrestling has been around for a long time
now, with over seventeen years of history. With so much time covered over
the years, there are going to be some names that even the bigger fans might have forgotten about. One of those names from the very old days is making
    a return.

As announced on his Twitter, former NWA World Champion Ken Shamrock will be returning to the promotion at the September 5 and September 6 television tapings in Las Vegas. Shamrock appeared for the company in 2002 when the company was still part of the National Wrestling Alliance. This will be
his first appearance for the company since a brief return in 2004.

@TheMooseNation #noballs huh? Well according to your #bosses I’ll see you
    in Vegas! @IMPACTWRESTLING it’s #moose #hunting season and The Worlds Most Dangerous Man has his next #victim #godfatherofmma #legend #moosekiller #bareknuckles pic.twitter.com/Z2k32NyLgI

It was a big moment in the day. Check out Shamrock’s World Title win:

Opinion: This isn’t something that is going to work in the long term but
for a one off appearance, it is perfectly fine. Shamrock has not been
involved in wrestling in a long time and it isn’t likely that he is going
to be anything close to what he used to be. That being said, there is a certain curiosity and nostalgia feeling to having him around so see what he
can offer, even in a one off appearance.

Do you want Shamrock back in the company? Who else should Impact Wrestling bring back? Let us know in the comments below.

Why Not Try It? Braun Strowman Has A Very Unique Idea For A Big Stunt In
    WWE.

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 10:48 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/not-try-braun-strowman-unique-idea/

That would be a new one. Every now and then, you will come across a
wrestler who seems destined to become the new biggest star in the company
but for one reason or another, it just does not pan out that way. That can make things all the more frustrating as you can see the potential there but
it just might not happen. Sometimes they get a consolation prize though,
and in a current case, it is one heck of a gimmick.

Braun Strowman was recently interviewed by Game Stop and talked about an
idea that he had for a spot in a battle royal. Strowman, who is known for lifting and flipping almost everything put in front of him, has pitched an
idea where he lifts the ring up during a battle royal to eliminate everyone else to win the match. The idea does not seem to have ever been seriously considered.

Strowman likes to break things. Check out some of his more famous destructions:

Opinion: Is this really the worst idea in the world? If Strowman can lift
up an ambulance then lifting a ring isn’t the biggest stretch. I’m sure WWE can figure out a way to make it happen and in a match at the end of a
show or something, it could be quite the visual. If you can set something
up that could work, why not give it a shot? It would certainly be
something on the highlight reels for a long time to come.

Do you like this idea? Will WWE ever try something like this? Let us know
    in the comments below.

    Fusion #71

    Date: August 17, 2019

Location: Melrose Ballroom, New York City, New York

    Commentators: Rich Bocchini, Tony Schiavone

Things are starting to get interesting again around here as we’re getting ready for the War Chamber in Dallas and then the big pay per view debut
after that. What matters now is that Contra has its fourth member so Tom
Lawlor and the Von Erichs need their own help. That could present some interesting options which is the right idea. Let’s get to it.

Mance Warner has a new way to deal with Salina de la Renta and has a
chainsaw to cut down Ricky Martinez.

    Opening sequence.

Salina is in the ring to open things up. She wants to talk about Ricky
Martinez so here he is in person, now billed as the greatest Cuban athlete
of all time (a shot at Konnan).
    Ricky Martinez vs. Mance Warner

Ricky crotches him on the ropes on the way in and scores with a springboard dropkick. Mance’s comeback is cut off by an RKO for two but Warner says
bring it on. Some slaps to the face fire Mance up so Ricky is right back
with a one knee Codebreaker for two. Martinez gets headbutted out of the
air though and it’s kneepad up, kneepad down. The running knee sets up the lariat for the pin on Martinez at 2:17.

Result: Mance Warner b. Ricky Martinez Lariat (2:17)

Post match Mance opens a beer but Salina spits in his face. Salina walks
off so Mance throws the beer in Martinez’s face.

Richard Holliday is in his hotel room and brags about all the gold the
Dynasty has. An unseen woman comes in and gets his attention.

We look at Savio Vega being injured by the Night Terror (yes Night Terror) Pendulum, which may be banned.

We look at Marshall Von Erich being blinded by Contra.

Marshall, wearing sunglasses, says he will be at War Chamber and he’s bringing Kevin Von Erich with him.

Salina doesn’t want to talk about Martinez when Konnan comes in to taunt
her with the phone. He teases using her credit cards to order dinner and
laughs off her threats of calling the cops, presumably due to what is on
    the phone.

Teddy Hart is smoking in a bathroom with his cats running around. Brian
Pillman Jr. brings in Alexander Hammerstone’s jacket and relieves himself
    on it.
    Austin Aries vs. Ace Austin

Tony realizes how annoying the name similarities are going to be, with Rich wanting to know WHO BOOKED THIS. Aries goes for the arm to start but has to jump over Ace in the corner. A cartwheel sets up a clap around Ace’s ears. The middle rope elbow to Ace’s seated back gets one but Ace throws a card
at him for a distraction. The boot choking begins in the corner and Ace
slowly kicks him in the back.

Ace crotches him into the Tree of Woe and it’s time to choke at Aries, with Ace counting along with the referee. Aries gets in a jawbreaker and slugs
away, followed by the fivearm to stun Ace. The suicide dive sends Ace into
the barricade but he rolls away before the 450. A low blow sets up Ace’s rollup for two but Aries is right back with the brainbuster for the pin at 8:45.

Result: Austin Aries b. Ace Austin Brainbuster (8:45)

Post match Aries says he’s coming for the Middleweight Title.

Hammerstone isn’t happy with the jacket situation. Aria Blake shows up with the jacket, which is now ruined.

    Come to house shows!

A kickboxer has signed with MLW and will debut on September 7.

MLW is partnering with Mars Labs to enhance viewing experience.

War Chamber Control Center, which will include a celebration of Gary Hart.
    LA Park vs. Jimmy Havoc

Loser Leaves MLW street fight. Park plays his chair so Jimmy plays his
jacket, the former of which goes upside Jimmy’s back. Havoc comes back with some armdrags (Tony: “IN A STREET FIGHT!”) as Rich thinks Havoc could use some peanut butter sandwiches. The trashcan is brought in for a shot to La Park’s head….and let’s bring in the staple gun. Before we get there though,
it’s some metal signs to the head, followed by a big, table sized piece of wood.

Havoc superkicks a chair into his face/chest as Salina is not looking happy
at ringside. As Tony talks about wanting Salina to throw him in her pool,
Havoc and Park chop it out at ringside. Back in and Havoc hits a middle
rope double stomp for two but Park is back with a shot to the face. A
running knee to the head gives Park a delayed two and it’s Tree of Woe time.

The board is put in front of Havoc’s face for a running basement dropkick
so the referee makes sure Havoc isn’t dead. That means another board, with Park bridging it over some chairs and laying Jimmy on top. There is no way
this can end well and Park’s top rope double stomp goes through the table. Back in and Havoc chairs him on top, setting up a superplex for two.

The staple gun is used on Park’s head and then on the crotch, which the
fans find rather sick. You don’t do that to a large skeleton man though and Park powerslams him onto four chairs for two (Rich on the kickout: “WHAT???”). Park goes up for a corkscrew moonsault, followed by a spear through the chairs to get rid of Havoc at 12:42.

Result: LA Park b. Jimmy Havoc Spear (12:42)

Post match Salina tells them to shake hands and promises that Konnan and
Warner aren’t taking her down. Neither will the World Champion but here’s Warner to interrupt. He comes through the crowd with the chainsaw and Promociones Dorado runs to end the show.

BREAKING: Hes All Out. Jon Moxley Off All Out Due To Injury, Replacement Announced.

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 03:13 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/breaking-hes-jon-moxley-off-due-injury-expected-recovery-time/

He puts the out in All Out. Earlier this year, AEW made its debut with the rather big Double Or Nothing event. The show was pretty high quality with
one rather good match after another. The big angle at the end saw Jon
Moxley make his debut to attack Kenny Omega, setting up a match between the
two of them at All Out. There is one problem that is holding it back
    though.

Moxley has announced on Twitter that he has been forced to pull out of the match due to a MRSA infection in his elbow. The injury will require
surgery to remove the infected bursa sack, which, according to Moxley,
should fix everything and have a quick recovery time. Moxley said that he should be back for the debut show on TNT, which takes place on October 2.
AEW has already announced Pac as a replacement for Moxley.

Im absolutely gutted to have to deliver this news but Id rather it come directly from me. In a nightmare scenario, a serious case of MRSA has
returned in my elbow. The timing couldnt be worse. In this circumstance I
am forced to pull out of the fight 8/31 vs Omega at All Out .

    - Jon Moxley (@JonMoxley) August 23, 2019

I apologize to all involved, most importantly the fans. I am incredibly frustrated and pissed off. Ill have surgery this week to remove the bursa
sac in my elbow and be done with it for good. Should be a quick recovery so
I will be 100% for AEW Wednesday nights on TNT.

    - Jon Moxley (@JonMoxley) August 23, 2019

Still, I expect All out to be an amazing ppv and hope all the fans out
there looking for an alternative tune in. You will be blown away by AEW and
be excited to be a wrestling fan. Im looking forward to watching as a fan myself

Moxley is a big star for the company. Check out the hype for one of his earlier matches:

Opinion: Dang it that’s quite disappointing but it’s something that happens to every wrestling company. There is no way to guarantee that every
wrestler stays safe and it was bound to happen to AEW sooner or later.
This is a little worse than usual though given how big of a match Moxley
vs. Omega was going to be, though you can easily turn it into an angle and
have the match later on. Hopefully he’s back soon because his star power
is a big asset to WWE.

Double The Letters. WWE Superstar Undergoes Name Change.

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 02:29 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/double-letters-wwe-superstar-undergoes-name-change/

I remember that name! Wrestling is a weird place as you see all kinds of performers coming and going but sometimes their names and characters
change. It is clearly the same person, but we are supposed to forget that
they were ever someone else. That can work if the new character is
different enough, but the rather random name changes can become a bit of an issue, so thankfully WWE has fixed one name change.

As shown on WWE.com, Rowan is now known as Erick Rowan again. The original name change came about during Rowan’s time in the Bludgeon Brothers when he and Luke Harper both lost their first name. Since then, Rowan has returned from a long term injury and is now teaming with Daniel Bryan. There is no
word why WWE decided to give him his first name back, though they have done something similar when Apollo went back to being Apollo Crews.

Maybe the lookalike made WWE think they needed a way to identify him.
Check out Rowan revealing Roman Reigns’ attacker:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is one of those things that doesn’t really matter in the long run, which makes me wonder why they bothered doing the initial change.
It’s hard to hide a 6’6 bald monster with a red beard and just cutting off his first name doesn’t change much of anything. I don’t get the thinking here and it’s turned into one of those things that WWE just does for
reasons that are probably nowhere near as important as the company thinks
    they are.

Do you like the first name being back? What is next for Rowan? Let us
    know in the comments below.

RUMOR: Keep Them Coming. NXT Takeover May Be Undergoing A Change.

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 02:23 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/nxt-takeover-may-undergo-change/

Put another one on the calendar. In a little over a month, NXT is
expanding to a two hour live show every Wednesday night, meaning things are going to get a little bit more interesting in the wrestling world. That
means that we are going to have more content on television, but it turns
out that there is something else that could be added to the schedule to
    balance it out.

According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE may consider adding in a sixth NXT Takeover to the calendar, which would be in addition to the five already taking place every year. The decision would depend on how NXT
draws as a show on USA starting on September 28. At the moment it is not
clear when the show would take place, as Takeovers currently take place
around the same time as the Big Four pay per views, plus in early June.

A source states adding a 6th TakeOver event is a real possibility in 2020,
all dependent on how the USA Network numbers look. The current TakeOver schedule of Jan, Mania weekend, June, Aug & Nov makes finding a slot for a
    6th show a bit difficult.

    - WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) August 23, 2019

We need more of this. Check out part of the most recent Takeover main
    event:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised at something like this as WWE certainly loves content at this point. The problem is that Takeover works so much
better because it isn’t around as often. I’m hoping that this change doesn’t take place as it would hurt the way NXT operates, but that has already been done with the expansion to two hours. Maybe it could work
though, as NXT has surprised me several times before.

Do you think more Takeovers will work? How many Takeovers should NXT run?

How Will The Move To The USA Network Affect The NXT Commentary Team?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 07:48 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/derekstoughton/how-will-the-move-to-the-usa-network-affect-the-nxt-commentary-team/

One of the major news stories this past week was the announcement that NXT
will be moving to the USA Network beginning on September 18. This is a wonderful opportunity for their performers to get more exposure on a
national stage, as well as further create a legitimate third brand for WWE.

But what does this mean for the commentary team of the black and gold brand?

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness and Beth Phoenix will still comprise the weekly announce team. However, there are questions because of Ranallos past issues with people in charge of the company. He had missed several events, due to rumors of being bullied by JBL backstage.

Ranallo did say publicly when he returned to NXT, that he left the company because he couldnt handle the weekly travel doing Smackdown entailed.
However, it is believed that was more a cover reason to explain his absence
and his return without creating controversy.

However, Ranallo has admitted that he has bipolar at a very heavy level,
and issues can flare up at any time. The travel will be more extensive, but
its midweek and shouldnt affect his Showtime boxing and Bellator work,
which are on Fridays and Saturdays.

Check out what well get to see each week:
[This post contains video, click to play]

    Editors Opinion:

If theres one thing that WWE cant screw up in this deal, its Mauro Ranallo being the lead voice of NXT. He might be the best in the world at what he
does, and brings a level of energy unlike anything else in the world of professional wrestling.

How Will The NXT/USA Network Deal Effect Salaries Of The Talent?

    Posted: 23 Aug 2019 07:16 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/derekstoughton/will-nxt-usa-network-deal-effect-salaries-talent/

One of the major news stories this past week was the announcement that NXT
will be moving to the USA Network beginning on September 18. This is a wonderful opportunity for their performers to get more exposure on a
national stage, as well as further create a legitimate third brand for WWE.

But what does this mean for the salaries of its current talent?

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is rumored that the top tier NXT talent will get new contracts, which are
closer in value to what the main roster stars are making. New talent on the
way in were usually starting anywhere from $40,000 to $60,000, and in the
past WWE could get most of who they wanted at that price point.

The exception to this was those stars who wanted to stay on the independent scene in some capacity. Furthermore, WWE is likely to also raise offers because, whether it be people whose ROH contracts are ending, or top independent stars, AEW is offering low six figures to those they are
interested in, along with an easier schedule and better chances to be
featured in more prominent roles on their programming.

Check out what youll be getting to see really soon:
[This post contains video, click to play]

While unconfirmed, it is rumored is that all developmental deals are going
to be changed to main roster deals shortly.

    Editors Opinion:

There are a couple of other items that Meltzer mentions that are good
points. First, superstars spend time in NXT to learn their craft and
practice being in front of cameras and live audienes before they have to do
it on a major TV network each week. Does this go away with the move to the
USA Network? Also, NXT has a special following because of its
independent-style vibe. Will that go away once national exposure is in
