Santino Marella Talks Finding Out He Couldnt Wrestle Anymore & His WWE
Release

Former WWE Superstar, Santino Marella recently spoke with Lilian Garcia on
her Chasing Glory podcast where he reflected on not being able to wrestle anymore. Below are some highlights with a H/T to WrestlingInc.com for the transcriptions.

On what he was told when his career ended:

I knew it was coming. I saw specialists years ago that said you dont need surgery yet. I had heard it at University; it had affected my judo career
as well. The whole career I was protecting it and physio and traction and stretching it out while on the road. The flare ups got worse and they got closer together almost it got to the point where it was like, okay, said Marella.

Also, one time I was warming up for a match and I fell asleep in the car
for a second but my neck was stiff, and I was warming up but I couldnt move
it at all. If I moved it a centimeter, it was like a nerve shot. I told a doctor that I couldnt move my neck at all so that was it. It was at a live event. They pulled my match from the card. I couldnt move at all, it was
weird, like an electric shot.


On being released by WWE:


I was in charge of that realization where its been a couple of years and I thought I was getting better and then I kind of tripped. I put my hand down
and it just didnt feel good at all, stated Marella. I ended up calling the
WWE where I told them that I am waiting just like they are if this is going
to get better but its not getting better and its been two years, so I told
them that I dont think I can wrestle anymore.

Then we were talking about a non-wrestling role like a General Manager or something like that and that was the plan. All the time during your injury
that you have, they can add that on to your contract. So, I was off for
like two years and my contract would have been expired by that time but I figured, okay, I have two years because I was off for two years and that is what they told me. And then one day they called and said that they werent
going to exercise their option to extend it so my contract will be up next month. It was crazy.

TNT President Claims AEW Will Be A "Sleeper Hit"

TNT President, Kevin Reilly, recently spoke with Variety, where he
discussed AEW joining the network, claiming that it could be a sleeper hit.

“All Elite Wrestling (AEW)” is going to be a sleeper. It’s very counter-intuitive to launch a new league at the height of the WWE. But I
have a lot of reasons why it makes sense where the opportunity is. We’re
not taking down the WWE but I think this is going to be surprising.”

It is clear that TNT are confident in AEW as a product moving forward,
which will have its debut episode on October 2nd.

It is unknown what the future is for LAX now, with rumors that both WWE and
AEW are interested in them. There has been a lot of speculation that the
duo could be Chris Jerichos mystery tag team partners at the upcoming AEW television launch.

Sheamus Discusses His Current Status With WWE

During a WWE promotional tour, Sheamus spoke with Spin.ph during a press conference where the Celtic Warrior discussed his status with the company.

The former Tag Team Champion hasnt been seen on WWE television since the post-WWE WrestleMania 35 episode of SmackDown Live as he suffered a
concussion, but the experienced wrestler admitted he is working hard to
return, stating, Im trying to get better. I miss the ring.

Mike Kanellis On If 205 Live & NXT Should Merge, Would He Do A Reality Show?

Mike Kanellis held a Twitter Q&A recently where he spoke about a variety of topics, including if he believes 205 Live and NXT should merge.

Kanellis made it clear in his answer that he doesnt believe the two brands
need to merge in order for the cruiserweights to be a success, claiming
that the show is strong enough to stand on its own.

Kanellis also said he would be open to a reality show based on him and
Maria and their family, and stated that he doesnt even think about the fact
he lost his surname when joining WWE.

Former WWE Superstar, Brie Bella recently spoke with TV Insider where she reflected on life after WWE and expanding the Bella brand.

On expanding the Bella brand away from wrestling on Total Bellas:

I think the biggest thing is that in every season, we’ve always been
getting ready for this big comeback to wrestling and how wrestling is this
big part of our lives. We both are retired now. And since Nikki officially announced that, it’s strange how all these other doors have opened where we are able to give all of our companies so much time. It’s like we are in our next chapter of our life.

Plans for their podcast:

“We hope we do keep it real on our podcast, but also have some fun with ‘Bella Brains,’” Brie said. “We also want them to understand that they’re
not the only ones going through anything bad in their lives,” she continued. “The podcast has been good for us. [She] and I are having so
much fun. We actually are going to do a live tour in the fall. We’re going
to do a live show in Arizona first. We’re going to take our podcast on the road, which we are super excited about. .”
