Almost There. WWE Has Yet To Approve This Clash Of Champions Match.

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 10:35 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/almost-wwe-yet-approve-clash-champions-match/

Not so fast his wrestlers. Despite being less than a week removed from Summerslam, we are already less than a month away from Clash Of Champion.
The next WWE pay per view takes place on September 15 and there are some matches that you can probably guess from here. However, one match that is rather obvious has yet to be cleared, which is kind of surprising.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the SmackDown Live creative team has pitched the idea of New Day defending the SmackDown Tag Team
Titles against the Revival for the pay per view. As of Thursday though,
Vince McMahon has yet to approve of the match, meaning that at the moment,
it is not official for the show. Revival are still part of the Monday
    Night Raw roster.

They had a preview match. Check out Revival and New Day in a six man tag
    on SmackDown Live:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is one of those matches that you can probably guarantee on
the show and there is nothing wrong with that. Give the teams a chance to
get on the show and move on from there, as the four of them could probably
have a good match in their sleep. If nothing else, it’s nice to have the Wild Card Rule all but dropped as a Monday Night Raw team could get a
SmackDown Tag Team Title match with no one giving it a second thought.

Do you think the match will be added? Who will leave as the champions?

Get Your Wish List Ready. WWE Is Trying For Something Big At SmackDown
    Live 20th Anniversary.

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 10:32 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/get-wish-list-ready-wwe-trying-something-big-smackdown-live-20th-anniversary/

This one might be obvious. We are about a month and a half away from the
debut of SmackDown Live on FOX and that means WWE is going to be moving to
a much bigger stage at the drop of a hat. With that comes a lot of
pressure though, as FOX is going to want a much broader audience and WWE
needs to bring in the people. That can be done with stars, so WWE is going after the big one.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is trying to get the
Rock for the SmackDown 20th Anniversary special, which will also serve as
the first show on FOX. While Rock has given no indication of whether he
would be interested in making an appearance, the biggest problem for him
would be his movie schedule, though it is not clear if he would be filming
    on October 4 or not.

It is his show. Check out Rock’s promo from the first episode of SmackDown Live:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is hardly a surprise as there is no reason for WWE to not
want to have the biggest movie star in the world on the show. The thing is there could be a real chance of getting Rock there if his schedule is
cleared. Rock has shown a willingness to appear for WWE in recent years so this isn’t out of the question. I don’t think it’s going to happen, but it’s not impossible.

Will Rock show up? What should he do on the show? Let us know in the
    comments below.

It Was One Of The Two. Why Is The King Of The Ring Tournament Coming Back
    And Who Made The Decision?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 10:30 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/one-two-king-ring-tournament-coming-back-made-decision/

There’s a reason for that. Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, WWE announced the return of the King of the Ring Tournament. The tournament,
which was held every year from 1993-2002, has only been held every few
years since then. The full field has already been announced and the finals will take place at Clash of Champions. So why is it happening again?

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the USA Network is
not behind the push for the tournament to return. WWE is using the
tournament to push a specific wrestler, though it is not clear who that
is. With pushing a wrestler being the reason the tournament is returning,
USA would be very unlikely to have anything to do with the concept coming
    back.

This is kind of the most important thing. Check out the full list of participants:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: That’s a bit surprising, though I can’t imagine that USA is complaining about a popular concept returning for the next several weeks on both major shows. The tournament is going to help build things for the
future and if the network benefits, everything is going to get better.
This is a good thing for everyone involved and hopefully we can get some
good wrestling at the same time.

Who do you think will win the tournament? Will it be a success? Let us
    know in the comments below.

Hit The Reset Button. Injured WWE Star Drops All References To The Company
    From Social Media.

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 10:27 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/hit-reset-button-injured-wwe-star-drops-references-company-social-media/

So long? One of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler is a devastating injury. Something like that can put them on the shelf for
months at a time and completely derail their career. They are forced to
start all over when they come back and often times, they are never the
same. The silver lining to such an injury is being able to reinvent
yourself, and a WWE star may be doing just that.

Nia Jax, currently out recovering from knee surgery, has removed all WWE references from her Instagram and deleted her Twitter account. There is no word on what this means at the moment, though there is no word on any heat between her and WWE. It is possible that she is reacting to a bad moment
and wants a break, or it could be part of a new character or storyline she
is working on while she is out. Jax is scheduled to return to the ring in 2020.

Jax has had an interesting year. Check out this angle that had potential: [This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I’m not sure what this means but it’s going to be a good while before we see Jax again in WWE. There is no way of knowing if this is some kind of a story or just Jax taking a break from social media. That is a
fairly common practice and maybe she just needs a little time away from everything. She has certainly earned that and if this helps her, so be it.

What do you want to see Jax do when she returns? Would a new character
help her? Let us know in the comments below.

The Next Generation. Heres What Could Be Coming From Rey Mysterios Odd
    Promo On Monday Night Raw.

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 10:24 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/next-generation-heres-coming-rey-mysterios-odd-promo-monday-night-raw/

The Crown Prince. This week on Monday Night Raw, Rey Mysterio lost to
Andrade in two straight falls in a two out of three falls match. After the match, Mysterio was distressed and could only talk about his family. That sounds rather vague and while it certainly seems that we will be hearing
more about what Mysterio is doing later, the family part might have
    something big coming up.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is interested in having Mysterio’s son Dominick wrestle for the company and Mysterio’s loss could lead towards that. Dominick has trained to be a wrestler but is not
considered ready for such a role. His targeted start date is some time in 2020, though it is not clear how the story to get him into the ring would
    play out.

Dominick was around earlier this year. Check out him running into Samoa
    Joe:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This isn’t the most surprising news in the world as Mysterio is in his early 40s and isn’t going to be able to be in the ring much longer.
Also keep in mind that Mysterio is the second wrestler to use the name so it’s not like there is some rule saying he can’t pass his character on. I don’t know how good Dominick will be in the ring, but the does at least
have some legitimate training under his belt.

When will, if ever, Dominick get in the ring? What are you expecting from
him? Let us know in the comments below.

Whats Not In A Name. WWE Might Be Considering A Pretty Dramatic Name
    Change For An Established Talent.

    Posted: 15 Aug 2019 10:20 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/whats-not-name-wwe-might-considering-pretty-dramatic-name-change-established-talent/

Please….no. One thing that WWE has been doing a lot more of in recent
memory is changing names. I don’t mean taking someone and giving them a completely new name (ACH becoming Jordan Myles in NXT for example), but
rather turning Mustafa Ali into just Ali or dropping the Apollo in Apollo Crews. This time though, they might be making a much bigger change.

According to PW Insider Elite via Ringsidenews.com, WWE may be changing
Chad Gable’s name. Earlier this year, WWE trademarked the name Shorty G.
but no wrestler was given the name. After this week’s SmackDown Live, Shelton Benjamin was involved in a segment where he saw Gable and referred
to him as Shorty. There is no guarantee that this is happening yet, but
    the pieces are there.

The new name? Check out the segment that brought up the possibility:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: For the love of all things good and holy, please tell me this
isn’t going to happen. Gable is an Olympian with more charisma than he
knows what to do with and a great look. Why in the world would you saddle
him with such a horrible name? I know it sounds ridiculous, but this is
the same company that has given Benjamin a gimmick where he says a word a
week. Is it that far out of the question?

Do you think WWE is going to do this? How bad of an idea is it? Let us
    know in the comments below.

Major League Wrestling Fusion Results - August 10, 2019

    Fusion #70

    Date: August 10, 2019

Location: Melrose Ballroom, New York City, New York

    Commentators: Rich Bocchini, Tony Schiavone

We’re still in New York and things have been staying interesting around
here as we move towards the first pay per view. Last week’s big story saw Davey Boy Smith Jr. getting a bit annoyed at his sister Georgia for dating Alexander Hammerstone. I’m not sure what to expect from that this week but
it should be another fun one. Let’s get to it.

    Opening sequence.
    Rey Horus vs. Bestia 666

They lock up to start with Bestia getting slowed down by a wristlock. Horus flips out of the same thing from Bestia and then grabs a springboard
armdrag for two. A dropkick sends Bestia outside but they switch places so Bestia can hit the suicide dive. Some chops keep Bestia in control and a superkick gives him two. Horus is back with a headscissors to the floor and there’s the big running flip dive to keep Bestia down.

Back in and they chop it out until Horus has to hurricanrana his way out of
a powerbomb attempt. A running Spanish Fly gives Horus two but Bestia is
right back up with a superkick for the same. Horus’ super victory roll is blocked so he settles for an armdrag off the top instead. Back up and
Bestia crotches him on top, setting up a kneeling MuscleBuster for the pin
    at 9:37.

Result: Bestia 666 b. Rey Horus Kneeling MuscleBuster (9:37)

Post match Salina de la Renta says she is the greatest promoter of all
time, unlike that fake legend like Konnan. She wants her phone back so
here’s Konnan to interrupt. He offers to let her feel the phone, setting up
a classic THAT’S ENOUGH. Tonight Savio Vega is getting an Openweight Title match but according to the phone, Savio isn’t getting a bonus payment that
he was owed. Cue Savio to rip up his Promociones Dorado contract and leave
    with Konnan.

The Dynasty is in a penthouse, which was paid for by the closing of an orphanage. Maxwell Jacob Friedman comes in with the Gift Train, meaning
that Hammerstone and Holliday get new Rolexes. Friedman brings up the Hart Foundation but Hammerstone is tired of hearing about them. They mock Teddy
Hart for his drug habits and it’s a group hug. They all leave in tears.

The Hart Foundation hasn’t forgotten the Dynasty and practice standing moonsaults on their hotel bed.

The Opera Cup, a tournament that took place for over fifty years but hasn’t been awarded in over seventy years, is coming back.

Contra introduces us to their newest member: Ikuro Kwon, a pit fighter from Singapore. He’s the one who blinded Marshall Von Erich last week.

We get the War Chamber Control Center with a rundown of the War Chamber
    rules.

Ross Von Erich had a role in Hobbs and Shaw.

We look at Marshall being blinded last week.

Tom Lawlor and Ross Von Erich talk about Marshall being in Hawaii to see an
eye specialist. Lawler promises to get revenge on Contra.

MLW is partnering with the Crash in Mexico.

Mance Warner has his white board to explain his game plan against
Promociones Dorado. His first step: draw trees. Second step: grab a
chainsaw and cut the board in half, just like he’s going to cut down Salina’s boys. He didn’t actually cut it up.
Contra Unit vs. Jay Sky/Ariel Dominguez

It’s Samael/Gotch for the team here. Gotch suplexes Dominguez down and
Samael puts on a camel clutch for the tap at 30 seconds.

Result Contra Unit b. Jay Sky/Ariez Dominguez Camel clutch to Dominguez
    (0:30)

Post match Samael uses the spike to carve up Dominguez’s mouth.

    Video on War Chamber.

Long recap of the Konnan/Salina phone issue. Next week it’s LA Park vs.
Jimmy Havoc in a Loser Leaves MLW match to give Konnan his first demand.

Also next week: Mance Warner vs. Ricky Martinez.
National Openweight Title: Alexander Hammerstone vs. Savio Vega

Vega is challenging and is here alone while Hammerstone has the rest of the Dynasty with him. Friedman even does a good strut on the floor before the
bell. Feeling out process to start with Hammerstone shoving him into the
corner and getting chopped back for his efforts. That doesn’t work with Hammerstone, who knocks Vega right back down, only to miss a charge into
the corner. Hammerstone knocks him down again and the stomping commences.

A powerslam gives Hammerstone two and it’s off to a front facelock. Hammerstone kicks him in the face for another knockdown. A missile dropkick misses and the slow motion comeback is on with Vega kicking him in the
chest. Hold on though as Friedman removes a turnbuckle pad, with
Hammerstone whipping Vega into the steel. The Nightmare Pendulum (with Vega landing on his feet at first) retains the title at 7:41.

Result: Alexander Hammerstone b. Savio Vega Nightmare Pendulum (7:41)

Post match Brian Pillman Jr. comes out to steal Hammerstone’s jacket as
Vega is checked on to end the show.
