Signed And Kept. Top WWE Star Re-Signs With The Company.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2019 08:14 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/signed-kept-top-wwe-star-re-signs-company/

Keep the big one around. WWE is suddenly no longer the only big time
company in the American wrestling scene. Due to the rise of AEW with its billionaire backers, there is now another company that can offer up some serious money to the talents. That has created a different wrestling world
for the first time in a long time, though WWE has managed to keep one of
its big stars in the fold.

According to Prowrestlingsheet.com, Roman Reigns has re-signed with the
company on a new multi-year deal. While the exact length of the contract
is not known, Reigns will be sticking with the company for the foreseeable future. It isn’t clear when his old deal was going to expire, though there was never any indication that Reigns was considering leaving at any point.

It’s a good thing they kept him around. Check out Reigns’ rather awesome match from this week’s SmackDown Live:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is about as obvious of a move as you could get as neither
side would have any reason to consider leaving. Reigns may not have been
the success that WWE wanted him to be but he was far from an abysmal
failure. He is still the top star WWE has and there is no reason for them
to even think about letting him go anywhere. Couple that with Reigns being part of one of the most important families in history and all of the
success he has had in WWE and this is no surprise at all.

What is next for Reigns in WWE? When will he be World Champion again? Let
us know in the comments below.

RUMOR: One More For The Roster. WWE Signs Big Independent Name.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2019 07:49 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/rumor-one-roster-wwe-signs-top-independent-name/

The roster continues to grow. Whether you like the company or not, there
is no real way to argue that WWE is the biggest wrestling company in the
world. They have more money than they know what to do with and there is a prestige to them that few companies can offer. A lot of wrestlers see it
as the ultimate goal and now another one has been brought into the fold.

According to Squared Circle Sirens, Santana Garrett has been signed to a developmental contract with WWE, meaning she will be reporting to NXT in
the near future. Garrett has wrestled all over the world, including
winning the Wonder of Stardom Title and wrestling in Impact Wrestling as Brittany. She has also wrestled for WWE as part of the 2017 Mae Young
Classic and a few matches in NXT.

Speaking of the Mae Young Classic. Check out Garrett’s match from 2017: [This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: That’s a nice signing for WWE as Garrett is one of the better performers on the independent scene. She even has some experience both on television and with one of the biggest women’s promotions in the world.
The women’s division needs some more talent and Garrett would seem ready to debut in a hurry, which is a pretty good situation to have for a new talent.

What do you think of Garrett? What can she do in NXT? Let us know in the comments below.

There It Is. Major Title Match Set For Next Weeks Monday Night Raw.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2019 07:46 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/major-title-match-set-next-weeks-monday-night-raw/

It’s less than a week away. Summerslam has come and gone and that means it’s time to start moving forward on the next major set of stories. Some
of those started to come into focus this week on Monday Night Raw, when the
OC seemed ready to start feuding with the combined forces of Ricochet, Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. We aren’t wasting time either as the first big match is now set.

As announced on WWE.com, Strowman will challenge AJ Styles for the United States Title on next week’s Monday Night Raw. The match was set up after Styles challenged Strowman to face him for the title after this week’s
Monday Night Raw went off the air. Strowman has never held a singles title
in WWE, with his lone title reign being a Tag Team Title reign with
    Nicholas.

Ask and receive. Check out Styles’ challenge:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This match screams no contest or an OC run in for the DQ but it’s
a smart idea to set something up like this so far in advance. WWE has a
bad habit of making these matches on the same night that they take place
and that’s not the most efficient method of advertising. This lets some interest build up for six days and then more people might want to see what
is going on. Why is that so complicated?

How do you see the match going? Who leaves as champion? Let us know in
    the comments below.

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results - August 13, 2019

    Posted: 13 Aug 2019 04:53 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/smackdown-live-coverage-results-august-13-2019/

    Smackdown

    Date: August 13, 2019

Location: Scotiabank Arena, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Commentators: Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton

It’s the final night in Toronto and we’re already starting on the path towards Clash of Champions. As for tonight though, we have the first round
of fallout from last week’s revelation that Rowan tried to take out Roman Reigns. Since Buddy Murphy was the one to tell Reigns the news, that means Murphy faces Reigns tonight. Let’s get to it.

Here’s Kevin Owens to open us up and the fans are rather happy to see him. The cheers go on long enough that Owens has to pause before saying
anything. Yesterday was five years to the day since he signed with WWE.
Over those five years he has created and experienced things he will never forget. He’s been in the ring with people he’s looked up to for years and on Sunday he was in the ring with someone who calls themselves the Best in
    the World.

As inaccurate as that was, it was special because Owens’ family was
ringside to see him in the ring. That Stunner will be with him for the rest
of his life, but now it’s time to set his sights on the King of the Ring tournament. He has been a fan his whole life and he loved watching the tournament growing up. Winning the tournament would mean much as anything
he has won so far in WWE. We get the usual list of great names to have won, including Owen Hart.

Cue Shane McMahon and Owens actually falls down onto his knees as the music hits. Owens: “Why? Why?” Shane isn’t happy with the loss but shows us a shot of Owens kicking him low on Sunday. Is that what it means to be a man? Owens isn’t going to be lectured about being a man by someone who was part
    of the Mean Street Posse.

Being a man is doing whatever it takes to keep your job, but Shane says
Owens is nothing but a cheater. Owens will be wrestling later tonight but first, we need to see a clip of Owens attacking Elias with a chair. That’s going to cost Owens $100,000 and that does not sit well with him. He
demands Shane reconsider, but Shane says nope and leaves.

Post break Owens goes into Shane’s office where he threatens him with a lawsuit if Owens hits him. Owens says we’ll make it 105 and throws a stool into a TV.
    Charlotte vs. Ember Moon

Neither gets an entrance. Charlotte pulls her down by the hair to start and works on a headlock. An elbow to the face drops Moon again but she’s back
up with a headscissors to try and change things up a bit. Charlotte gets knocked outside but Ember takes her down with a kick through the ropes.

The springboard dive connects with Charlotte, who sends Moon straight into
the apron as we take a break. Back after what seemed like a longer than
usual break with Ember holding her knee on the floor. That means it’s time for some knees to the leg but it’s too early for the Figure Eight. Instead Charlotte goes with a Liontamer for a JERICHO chant. Charlotte switches
back to the knee with some cannonballs down onto it as she channels her dad.

Moon moves away from the last one and starts throwing knees. A kick to the chest gets two, followed by a bottom rope Codebreaker for the same. The
Eclipse misses but so does the spear into the corner, allowing Moon to hit
a superkick for two more. Charlotte is back up with the big boot though and it’s the Figure Eight to make Ember tap at 11:43.

Result: Charlotte b. Ember Moon Figure Eight (11:43)

Video on the Roman Reigns attacks and Buddy Murphy blaming Rowan.

Here are Rowan and Daniel Bryan for a chat. It’s clear that someone is out
to get Reigns but neither of them had anything to do with the attacks. All
that matters is Murphy is a liar but Bryan doesn’t blame him for what he said. Any one of you would cave if Reigns held you against a wall and
Murphy had to give a name. The problem is Murphy gave the wrong name. The
fans say Bryan did it and Bryan says that’s what’s wrong with society. A lie is spread all over social media and then it becomes the truth. They had nothing to do with it and tonight they’ll prove it.

Samoa Joe comes in to Shane’s office because he’s going to be facing Owens tonight.

Aleister Black talks about the due sin around him, but he will soon find a
way out for everyone in the locker room. All they have to do is knock.
    Buddy Murphy vs. Roman Reigns

Roman doesn’t like being shoved in the face to start so he hits an
uppercut. Murphy is right back with a jumping knee to the face for an early
two and the stomping is on in the corner. They head outside with Reigns
being sent into the barricade a few times so he throws Murphy hard over the announcers’ table. Murphy sends him into the steps though and comes back
with knees off the apron as we take a break.

Back with Reigns fighting out of a chinlock and hitting a powerbomb out of
the corner. Reigns hits the clotheslines in the corner and a big boot puts Murphy down. The spear goes into the post though and Murphy gets two off a rollup. Reigns is sent outside for the big running flip dive and the top
rope Meteora gets two back inside. A Superman Punch out of nowhere gives
Reigns two but Murphy hits a series of knees to the face. The brainbuster
gives Murphy two and he goes up top, with a Superman Punch knocking him
back down. Reigns hits a spear for the pin at 13:40.

Result: Roman Reigns b. Buddy Murphy Spear (13:40)

Revival is here to face New Day because they want to prove that things can
    be serious.

Xavier Woods is upset that he isn’t in the King of the Ring tournament but they don’t like the Revival saying they have ruined the tag team division. They’ve ruined their dinners, Christmas and that adult circumcision but
never the tag division. Kofi isn’t worried about what he did to Randy Orton after their match on Sunday because he was protecting their family. As for tonight, he’ll be out there supporting his brothers.
    Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Owens

Hold on though as Elias is the outside enforcer referee (with the 24/7
Title rules suspended for the match). Owens starts fast with a dropkick and
a clothesline but Joe bails to the floor before the Cannonball. Elias won’t let Owens dive off the apron so Joe takes Owens down by the leg as we go to
    an early break.

Back with Joe charging into an elbow in the corner and getting dropped with
a middle rope dropkick. The backsplash gives Owens two and the Swanton is
good for the same. The Stunner is countered into a Koquina Clutch but Owens slips out. Now it’s the Pop Up Powerbomb connecting but Elias pulls the referee out at two. Elias gets in for the staredown so Joe can grab a
rollup for the fastest three ever at 5:42.

Result: Samoa Joe b. Kevin Owens Rollup (5:42)

Bryan and Rowan go into the locker room and tell everyone but Murphy to get out. Bryan gets right in his face and demands that Murphy admit that he
lied. Rowan hits Murphy in the face and pins him against the wall, with
Bryan wanting Murphy to admit that he lied. Murphy admits it and Rowan lets
him go, but Bryan says he hates liars. That earns Murphy a trip into the garbage.

Video on King of the Ring.
    New Day vs. Revival

Woods and Big E. for New Day here but before we’re ready to go, here’s Orton to talk about Summerslam. Kofi couldn’t beat him ten years ago and he couldn’t do it on Sunday so he snapped in front of his family. One day Kofi’s sons are going to grow up and Kofi is going to have to tell them
that he couldn’t beat Orton. Kofi can have one more chance though: make
this a six man tag. It seems to be on.
    Randy Orton/Revival vs. New Day

Kofi and Orton start with Orton tagging out to Dawson before anything
happens. A monkey flip and dropkick have Dawson in trouble and it’s off to Woods, with Big E. wheelbarrowing him into a splash for two. Wilder comes
in and gets headscissored down for two but Dawson makes the blind tag.
That’s fine with Woods, who rolls him up as well, only to have Wilder take Woods down by the arm. The armbar goes on before Wilder comes back in for
    one of his own.

Woods fights up and hits a discus forearm but gets taken into the corner
again. Orton drops him onto the announcers’ table and we take a break. Back with Woods’ arm still in trouble and Dawson doing the rather tired taunt of mocking the clap. Another armbar is more his speed but Woods gets up and
brings in Big E. for the house cleaning. The Warrior Splash hits Wilder for
two as everything breaks down. Kofi dives onto Orton, leaving Woods to take
the Shatter Machine for the pin at 11:53.

Result: Randy Orton/Revival b. New Day Shatter Machine to Woods (11:53)

Post match Orton gives New Day an RKO each.

Roman comes in to see Bryan and Rowan, who have been conducting their own investigation. Next week, they’ll bring the one who did it to Reigns.

    Results

Charlotte b. Ember Moon – Figure Eight

Roman Reigns b. Buddy Murphy – Spear

Samoa Joe b. Kevin Owens – Rollup

Revival/Randy Orton b. New Day – Shatter Machine to Kingston

Id Call It A Success. Bray Wyatt Achieves A Major Accomplishment (Its A
    Very Good Sign).

    Posted: 13 Aug 2019 04:35 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/id-call-success-bray-wyatt-achieves-major-accomplishment-good-sign/

The popularity is strong. Over the last few months, few WWE names have received as much attention as Bray Wyatt. Despite only wrestling one
televised match in a year, Wyatt has become one of the most talked about performers in the company due to his Firefly Fun House. Wyatt’s new Fiend persona made its in-ring debut at Summerslam and that meant WWE was ready
    to capitalize.

As announced on WWE.com, a limited edition Wyatt Firefly Fun House box set
sold out in about three hours on Monday. Each box contained a limited
edition shirt, an autographed postcard, cutouts and a display set, pictures
and stickers. There were a total of five hundred boxes available for
$39.99 each, many of which are now selling for well over $200 on eBay.

This ad is already obsolete. Check out WWE’s announcement of the boxes, which sold out the same day:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I don’t know if it was a love for Wyatt or a love of being able to mark up the prices, but I’m sure WWE is happy with these results. Wyatt
has been a very different kind of character since the new persona debuted
and that makes for some very interesting segments. It’s no wonder that
these sold well, though I can’t imagine anyone believed they would sell
    this well this fast.

What have you thought of Wyatt’s new character? How far can he take it?

(WATCH): The Special Shows Big Match. Local Advertisements Reveal Main
Event For First SmackDown Live On FOX.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2019 04:23 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/watch-special-shows-big-match-local-advertisements-reveal-main-event-first-smackdown-live-fox/

They’re going early this time. Less than two months from now, SmackDown
Live will be debuting on FOX. With the move, WWE will have the largest audience it has had for one of its regular shows in history, meaning that
they need to get this right. That means they need to plan things in
advance and, in addition to the SmackDown Live 20th Anniversary
celebration, a match is already planned for the October 4 show.

The Staples Center (where the October 4 show will be taking place) Twitter account had released a video for the show, including the announcement of
Kofi Kingston defending the SmackDown World Title against Randy Orton and
Dolph Ziggler. This ad is preliminary and could be subject to change, as
is the case with all such ads. At the same time, there is a strong chance
that this is a dark match for after the show.

It’s early but they seem ready. Check out the advertisement for the show: [This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This seems like a dark match more than anything else, though I
would be a bit surprised if Kingston held the title that long in the first place. That would put his reign at about six months, which is longer than
a lot of people have held the title combined. Kingston has had a rather healthy reign and if he holds it all the way until October, I would be
    rather impressed.

Do you think Kingston will still be champion in October? What are you expecting from the show? Let us know in the comments below.

Theyre Planning Ahead. Heres What To Expect For The Clash Of Champions
    Main Event.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2019 03:19 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/theyre-planning-ahead-heres-expect-clash-champions-main-event/

We might know where things are going. Summerslam took place less than two
days ago and while that means we are still in the fallout phase of the
show, it is already time to get started on the build towards the next
show. That would be Clash of Champions, which takes place on September
    15. With over a month to go before the show, WWE already seems to know
    where things are going.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the planned main event for the Clash
of Champions pay per view is Braun Strowman challenging Seth Rollins for
the Universal Title. This match was teased at the end of this week’s
Monday Night Raw when Strowman saved Rollins from a beatdown by the OC.
The reason Strowman is being given the spot is that there is no other
option at the moment, with only Drew McIntyre being a possible other challenger.

Strowman did help Rollins out. Check out the end of Monday Night Raw:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is something that makes enough sense as there are only so
many people who can challenge Rollins at the moment. Brock Lesnar vs.
Rollins has been done multiple times now and there really isn’t another viable option. Monday Night Raw has a lot of talent but there are very few names who have gone from the midcard all the way up to the main event
scene. Therefore, Strowman is the best choice they have.

Do you like the idea of this match? Who do you see winning the match? Let

The Gauntlet Has Been Thrown. Bayley Challenges NXT Star For Clash Of Champions.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2019 03:14 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/gauntlet-thrown-bayley-challenges-nxt-star-clash-champion/

Accepted? The Women’s Revolution has taken full swing in WWE with the old ways of women’s wrestling completely gone. That is a very good thing as
the women’s divisions have become a major deal with current champions Becky Lynch and Bayley doing some rather good things with the title. With such position comes some power, with one champion possibly using some of it.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley sent out a Tweet to NXT star Candice
LeRae, offering her a match at Clash of Champions. LeRae replied with a
video of Ariel from the Little Mermaid nodding. At the moment, there is no word on LeRae being called up or who Bayley will defend against at the pay
per view. Clash of Champions takes place on September 15.

.@CandiceLeRae Wanna wrestle at Clash of Champions? @wwe

Bayley won her last challenge. Check out her thoughts after her successful title defense:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I can’t imagine that this is going to happen as LeRae has barely even won a major match in NXT, though having Bayley give her some spotlight
is a good sign for her. Bayley got her start down in NXT and knows how important it can be for a young wrestler so giving someone a shout out is a nice gesture. There is a lot of talent on both rosters and I’m sure Bayley will be fine for opponents in the near future.

Were Not Done Yet. Post Monday Night Raw Dark Match Includes Top Stars.

    Posted: 13 Aug 2019 01:02 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/not-done-yet-post-monday-night-raw-dark-match-includes-top-stars/

That’s how you wrap up a night. Monday Night Raw is the biggest wrestling show in the world and has been for a very long time. Every single week,
some of the biggest names in the wrestling world are on the show, usually
in quite a few matches up and down the card. With so many people appearing
on the show, there might not be enough room for all of the wrestlers to perform, but there is always extra time after the show.

According to 411mania.com, the dark match after this week’s Monday Night
Raw saw Braun Strowman, Ricochet and Seth Rollins defeat the OC (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows). These same six men were involved in the closing segment of the show, with Strowman and Ricochet saving Rollins from
a triple teaming. Ricochet, Styles and Rollins all wrestled on the show.

Opinion: This is the logical way to wrap up the night and there’s nothing wrong with that. What matters here is letting the fans go home happy and having some of the most popular names on the roster in action against a
group of villains is a good idea. You can imagine where these feuds are
going and WWE could be in for some good stuff in the upcoming weeks, which
is better than what they’ve been doing as of late.
