Uh Oh. Injury Update On AJ Styles, Including How Long He Could Be Out.

    Posted: 05 Jun 2019 12:15 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/uh-oh-injury-update-aj-styles-including-long/

That’s quite a bit of time. There are no bulletproof wrestlers. At some point or another, everyone is going to have some kind of an injury that is going to keep them on the shelf for any given period of time. It’s the
only constant in all of wrestling and it’s going to happen to someone at
some point in their career. In this case it’s happening to someone later
in their career and it could be a little while before we see them again.

According to Fightful.com, AJ Styles will be out for the remainder of the
month of June with a calf injury. Styles’ injury status has been mentioned on WWE television and he has been pulled from all upcoming television and
house show appearances. There is no word on when he was injured or when he will be back, as the June time off could only be the beginning.

In case you forgot about him. Check out some of Styles’ greatest moments: [This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: Styles is an interesting case as he is someone who is still one of
the best performers on the entire roster, if not the entire world, but he
can only perform for so much longer due to his age. That means injuries
like these are more likely to start mounting up so WWE has no choice but to give him all the time he needs to heal. Styles’ appearances are going to
be fewer and further between so having him out of action is a necessary
    evil.

How much longer does Styles have? What do you want to see him do when he
gets back? Let us know in the comments below.

RUMOR: Heres What Might Be Up Next For Becky Lynch And The Raw Womens Title

    Posted: 05 Jun 2019 12:11 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/rumor-heres-might-next-becky-lynch-raw-womens-title/

Where are we going? WWE has a lot of shows coming up at the moment and
that means a lot of cards need to be filled. That is the case with both
the men’s and women’s divisions, both of which can be used to put some cards together. At the same time, so many cards means that it’s time to start speculating about what the cards might include, which is already
    taking place.

On Tuesday’s PW Insider’s Elite Audio, Mike Johnson offered a theory about where the Raw Women’s Title could be going in the near future. According
to Johnson, there might be a way to set up a triple threat match between champion Becky Lynch and challengers Lacey Evans and Charlotte. This could
be an issue as Charlotte is currently on SmackDown Live, though the Wild
Card Rule would be a way around the problem. Note that this is just a
theory and not something that is being reported as fact.

They were about to get into it on Monday night. Check out what set up a
    match between Evans and Charlotte:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This wouldn’t be the biggest surprise in the world, especially
given WWE’s love of putting Charlotte in every title match they can find as fast as they can. I don’t really need to see Charlotte get another title shot, though after seeing Lynch defeat Evans, who else is there on Monday
Night Raw to challenge for the title? The division is suddenly lacking top challengers, which is hard to believe after the title just main evented WrestleMania.

Do you like the idea of this match? Who will take the title from Lynch?

The Other Way To Get In. What Happened Before And After SmackDown Live?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2019 12:06 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/way-get-happened-smackdown-live/

Haven’t I seen you before? There are a lot of people on the WWE roster. Like, a ridiculous amount really. With five full time television shows,
there are several people who can’t even manage to make it onto TV for weeks at a time. These wrestlers still want to perform though, which is where
WWE has to get creative. One of those places is in dark matches, some of
    which took place on Tuesday.

According to Wrestlinginc.com, there was a dark match both before and after SmackDown Live. Before the show went on the air, Heavy Machinery defeated
the B Team. Heavy Machinery has challenged Daniel Bryan and Rowan for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles but neither team made the main show. After the
show was over, Bayley successfully defended the SmackDown Women’s Title against Charlotte. Both were on SmackDown Live, with Charlotte losing a
triple threat match for the #1 contendership to the title.

Heavy Machinery did talk to the champs backstage. Check out this online exclusive segment:
[This post contains video, click to play]

And then there’s what happened on television. Check out Charlotte in
    action:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: For the life of me I can’t understand how so many people can’t make television week in and week out. There were three matches on this week’s SmackDown Live and one of them was less than thirty seconds long.
You couldn’t fit Heavy Machinery in a minute long squash, just to get them
on TV for a few minutes? They’re not exactly an established team, so
letting them do something would be a smart move.

Which of these matches sounds better? Will Heavy Machinery win the
titles? Let us know in the comments below.

Thats How Its Done. "THIS" WWE Superstar Has Earned A Push Through Pure
    Hard Work.

    Posted: 05 Jun 2019 12:01 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/thats-done-superstar-earned-push-pure-hard-work/

You can earn something. One of the most frequent lines that you’ll hear in WWE is about grabbing the brass ring. Everyone thinks that it’s the
simplest thing in the world to just go and start doing something and get noticed as a result. It turns out to not be that simple, but that has
never stopped people from saying it’s so easy. However, someone seems to have gotten somewhere through pure effort.

According to Fightful’s Post Raw Show, Drake Maverick’s chase of the 24/7 Title is going on longer than originally planned because the company has
been impressed with his efforts in making the story work. Maverick has actually posted up his wanted posters for R-Truth and the title, which got
him some favorable reviews from WWE, thereby earning himself the push.
Maverick is still the General Manager of 205 Live.

This is what Maverick is after. Check out R-Truth’s 24/7 Title shenanigans from SmackDown Live:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: Good for Maverick. This isn’t much, but it’s something that has gotten him television time and a little bit of success. He’s not the kind
of performer who is going to be put in there against heavyweight talent but
at least he’s found something to do and done it on his own. That’s the kind of initiative that still works, but a lot of luck is involved too,
which is where some of the problems in WWE stem from today.

Do you like Maverick? Who will take the 24/7 Title next? Let us know in
    the comments below.

Theyre Piling Up. Title Match Set For Stomping Grounds.

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 06:48 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/theyre-piling-title-match-set-stomping-grounds/

One more for the card. Since WWE has decided to run as many shows as they
can in a short amount of time, we are less than three days away from Super ShowDown and less than three weeks away from Stomping Grounds. With that
being the case, it’s time to start setting up some more matches on the card and one of the title matches has already been set up.

This week on SmackDown Live, Alexa Bliss won a triple threat match to earn
a SmacKDown Women’s Title match against Bayley at Stomping Grounds. Bayley had been Bliss’ guest on A Moment Of Bliss when Carmella and Charlotte interrupted. The triple threat was made and Bliss pinned Carmella after a distraction from Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose. This will be Bayley’s
    second title defense.

She’s a fighting champion. Check out her title defense from last week’s SmackDown Live:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is at least something fresh in the title hunt as Bliss has
been champion several times before but it’s been a long time since she had
a title shot. If nothing else it’s not Bayley vs. Charlotte again, which
has gone on long enough. Bayley has had issues with Bliss before so
letting Bayley get the big win over her could show that this is a new
version, which is the right call.

Do you like this match? Who leaves as champion? Let us know in the
    comments below.

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results - June 4, 2019

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 04:58 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/smackdown-live-coverage-results-june-4-2019/

    Smackdown

    Date: June 4, 2019

Location: Sames Auto Arena, Laredo, Texas

Commentators: Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton

It’s the go home show for Super ShowDown and that means it’s time to really crank up the build towards….wherever Jeddah happens to be. In this case
that means Goldberg making his Smackdown debut, along with whatever the WWE Champion (and arguably the fifth, at most, biggest star in the company) is
up to. Let’s get to it.

Here are Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods to open things up. Kofi talks about being here for so long and how many things he’s accomplished, including becoming champion, having friends and of course, pancakes. We see a video
of Kofi going back to Ghana for the first time in 26 years as a national
hero. He even got to meet with the President, which is a pretty cool accomplishment.

Back in the arena, Kofi talks about how amazing of a feeling it is to be
able to tell the children that they can do whatever they want to do….and here’s Dolph Ziggler to interrupt. Ziggler, who sounds like he has a sore throat, talks about how inspirational Kof is before showing us a video about….himself. The video asks about Ziggler’s story and how he has been silenced over the years.

After everything he’s done, he has gotten nothing in return. Ziggler says
it should have been him because he should have been the hero of the story.
Kofi talks about all the times Ziggler has beaten him and how he knows what it’s like to be overlooked. There was something Ziggler left out, so can we see that footage please.

That would be Ziggler vacating the US Title in December 2017 and walking
out (which was never addressed). At Super ShowDown, it won’t be Ziggler and as long as Kofi is champion, it will never be Ziggler. Hang on because
Ziggler has ANOTHER video, showing him attacking Kofi two weeks ago.
Ziggler says on Friday, it will be him. As Ziggler leaves, here are Kevin
Owens and Sami Zayn for their tag match.
Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens vs. Kofi Kingston/Xavier Woods

Sami pounds away on Xavier to start so Woods goes with an armbar for some success of his own. It’s off to Kofi to take Kevin down for some right
hands both on the mat and in the corner as the fans aren’t exactly
thrilled. Sami comes back in and gets stomped down in the corner as we get
a two man Unicorn Stampede. A slingshot dropkick has Sami in trouble so
    it’s time for a breather.

Kofi hits a dive, with Owens barely catching him as it’s all New Day so
far. Woods gets sent into the barricade though and there’s the backsplash
to make it worse inside. A short clothesline sets up another backsplash and
we take a break. Back with Woods shoving Owens off the top and diving over
for the tag to Kofi so the pace can pick up again. Everything breaks down
and Kofi hits Trouble in Paradise to finish Sami at 10:26.

Result: Kofi Kingston/Xavier Woods b. Sami Zayn/Kevin Owens Trouble in Paradise to Zayn (10:26)

Post match Ziggler comes in and superkicks Kofi and Woods.

Shane McMahon shows us a clip of last night’s beatdown of Roman Reigns. Anything Reigns can do, Shane can do better because he’s the Best in the World. He’ll be calling Reigns out soon and wants to know which dog is showing up.

It’s time for a Moment of Bliss with Bayley as this week’s guest. Hang on though as Bliss needs to complain about her coffee and we have to wait for
a replacement to get out here before Bayley is going to be asked a
question. Bliss talks about how awesome she was as Women’s Champion and all of her accomplishments before asking if Bayley thinks the title means
    anything now.

Hang on though as Bliss needs to get her coffee. Bayley slaps it out of her hand and a brawl is teased but here’s Carmella to interrupt. You can’t just show up from Raw and challenge the champ because we need…..and here’s Charlotte to interrupt. She’s been talking to Shane and tonight it’s a triple threat between Carmella, Bliss and Charlotte with the winner getting
to face Bayley at Stomping Grounds.

The announcers talk about Goldberg and Undertaker as Charlotte’s music
    keeps playing.

Carmella finds R-Truth and is trying to get in touch with Shane McMahon. Carmella’s phone rings and it’s Shane, because R-Truth has been using her phone. R-Truth takes the phone and asks who it is. The title is ruining his life and he apologizes for ruining Shane McMahon Appreciation Night.
Tonight it’s going to be a title defense with standard rules….and that’s right now.
    24/7 Title: R-Truth vs. Elias

R-Truth is defending and it’s a lumberjack match with the usual mob of challengers around the ring. Elias throws him outside for a quick beating
and it’s a jumping knee to the face for the pin and the title at 26 seconds.

Result: Elias b. R-Truth Jumping knee to the face (0:26)

The mob gets up and Elias gets beaten down but manages to slip away from
the rather dumb mob. R-Truth chases him under the ring and pins him under
there to get the title back. Drake Maverick dives after R-Truth and
completely misses as the champ gets over the barricade. Both title matches
took less than two minutes combined.

Aleister Black says no one has taken him up on his offer for a fight, even though he’s not a hard man to find. He’ll be waiting until someone comes to knock on his door.

Here’s Shane McMahon to call out Roman Reigns, but he has the Revival with him (and that only counts as one Wild Card entry, as if WWE suddenly cares about that making sense, despite having several Raw names in the previous
match alone). After the big introduction and the CM Punk chants, Shane
talks about how awesome the Revival is.

We see another clip of Reigns’ beatdown from last night before Shane talks about training dogs. Most of them are fine, but then there’s one dog where you have to take it to another level. That’s Roman Reigns, who Shane will neuter on Friday. Cue Reigns, who beats down the Revival and goes for Shane
but gets Claymored by Drew McIntyre. Shane gets in another spear.
Carmella vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte

The winner gets the title shot at Bayley at Stomping Grounds. It’s a brawl
to start with Bliss sunset flipping Charlotte for two. Bliss is sent
outside and it’s the Code of Silence to Charlotte, who powers out of it and drops Carmella. Now it’s Bliss coming back in but getting kicked in the
face as Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose come down the ramp. The distraction
lets Charlotte chop away at both Bliss and Carmella but she stops to point
    at Sonya and Mandy.

Back from a break with Carmella hurricanranaing Charlotte off the top for
two with the fans being surprised by the kickout. Charlotte gets the Figure Eight on Carmella but Bliss dives in with Twisted Bliss for the save.
Carmella gets knocked to the floor so Bliss grabs a rollup with trunks for
two on Charlotte. That’s broken up so Carmella superkicks Charlotte but
gets pulled down by Mandy and Sonya. The DDT gives Bliss the pin on
    Carmella at 8:48.

Result: Alexa Bliss b. Carmella and Charlotte DDT to Carmella (8:48)

Here’s Lars Sullivan for his first interview. When asked why he does what
he does, he asks why lions methodically stalk their prey before viciously ripping it apart. Lars has come to realize that he is no man. He has been described as one word, but he wants Kayla Braxton to say it. The word is
freak, which doesn’t fit. A lion kills prey and is called a lion, but when
he hurts people, he’s called a freak. With that out of the way, Lars
recites his own version of Three Blind Mice, which involves destroying the
mice like he’ll do to the Lucha House Party on Friday.
    Andrade vs. Apollo Crews

And never mind as Andrade jumps Crews before the bell and hits the
    hammerlock DDT. No match.

Finn Balor runs in to brawl with Andrade, who gives him a hammerlock DDT as well.

We run down the Super ShowDown card.

We look at HHH and Randy Orton calmly ranting at each other last night.

Here’s Goldberg for the first time ever on Smackdown. He thanks the fans
for their chants and says it’s time to get down to business. He’s been waiting over twenty years to face the Undertaker one on one. Last night he heard Undertaker say he didn’t want the family man Goldberg. That statement made a light go off in Goldberg’s head and he knows he wants the same Goldberg to face Undertaker as well.

At Super ShowDown, Undertaker will Rest in Peaceand there goes the gong. Undertaker is behind Goldberg, who seems rather pleased about this. They
stare each other down and the lights go out again so Undertaker can
disappear. Goldberg says he’ll see Undertaker on Friday and it’s going to be a ride.

The announcers talk about Super ShowDown for the last few minutes to end
    the show.

    Results

Kofi Kingston/Xavier Woods b. Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn – Trouble in Paradise
    to Zayn

Elias b. R-Truth – Jumping knee to the face

Alexa Bliss b. Charlotte and Carmella – DDT to Carmella

Its Not Quite The Same Thing. What Does Jeopardy Champion James Holzhauer
    Have To Do With WWE?

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 04:54 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/not-quite-thing-jeopardy-champion-james-holzhauer-wwe/

What is….going on here? There are very few television events that seem to capture America’s attention but James Holzhauer’s run on Jeopardy seemed to do just that. While he has since lost, fans paid a lot of attention to him over the last two months as he rewrote the Jeopardy record books with a
level of dominance not seen in several years. This gives him a new
celebrity status, and now he might be cashing in on that a bit.

According to an interview with ESPN.com, he may be interested in appearing
on Monday Night Raw. Holzhauer was asked about appearing on other game
shows but said that couldn’t happen Jeopardy owned his game show rights for the time being. However, Jeopardy would be ok with him appearing on
American Ninja Warrior or Monday Night Raw. Holzhauer has referenced
wrestling several times on his Twitter account during his run on Jeopardy.

It’s not quite the Undertaker but it’s still a big loss. Check out Holzhauer’s loss on Jeopardy:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I mean, he seems to be a pretty big wrestling fan so it would make sense to have him appear as he’s definitely part of pop culture at the moment. If nothing else, it would be nice to have a celebrity appear who actually knows and appreciates wrestling and isn’t just there for some kind of a promotion with no idea what he is talking about. It could be fun, and that’s what it should be.

Would you like to see Holzhauer appear on the show? Who should he work

Rumor Killer On Roman Reigns Line WWE Wanted Jon Moxley To Say

    Posted: 04 Jun 2019 04:42 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/rumor-killer-roman-reigns-line-wwe-wanted-jon-moxley-say/

Not so fast and thank goodness for that. Over the last few weeks, there
has been no hotter name in wrestling than Jon Moxley. The former Dean
Ambrose left WWE, showed up in AEW and has become one of the most
interesting featured guests on the podcasting circuit. One of the most discussed topics has been his thoughts on the WWE creative process, which includes handing him a script and telling him what to say. As it turns
out, there might have been a little miscommunication.

During Moxley’s podcast appearance on Talk Is Jericho, he told a story
about WWE wanting him to say a line about Roman Reigns’ leukemia
diagnosis. Moxley not only refused to say the line on television but also refused to reveal the line on the podcast, saying he would tell Chris
Jericho off the air. Since then, a rumor has been circulating including
the specific line, though Jericho has said that the rumor is a “total
lie”. At the moment, there is no official word on what the actual line was and there is a chance we will never know what it was. The line and
Jerichos denial can be seen below:

    Total lie. https://t.co/txtVo4yA6z

    - Chris Jericho (@IAmJericho) June 4, 2019

Jericho and Ambrose certainly have a history together. Check out Ambrose destroying Jericho’s jacket:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: It’s quite the relief to hear Jericho refute that line because I think I’d need a shower if someone actually wrote that line and was paid to do so. That’s just a horrible thing to say and I couldn’t imagine Moxley, or anyone for that matter, actually saying that about someone who was in
such a bad condition. I think I’d rather never hear what the line was,
just so I don’t have to be so disturbed by the whole thing.

Do you want to know what the line was? Should WWE have ever brought it
up? Let us know in the comments below.

As the title says, the playing field is shifting. Wrestlers throughout the world are being signed and released all over the place. With AEW Double or Nothing creating an immediate impact on the wrestling scene, it seems the opportunities for professional wrestlers are more plentiful than they have
    been in many years.

The latest wrestler to leave Impact Wrestling is former Impact World
Champion Eli Drake. The 36-year-old star took to his Twitter account to
reveal he and Impact have parted ways. As of today, the former TNA King of
the Mountain Champion explains, he is a free agent.

This departure seemed inevitable, given that Drake had reportedly been
fired from the promotion by an email back on April 7. This was due to Drake refusing to compete in an intergender match against Tessa Blanchard at
    United We Stand.

To make matters worse, even after being fired by email, it was reported
that Impact was attempting to lock Drake in a year-long no-compete clause
due to a breach of contract. Obviously, now that we see Drake is a free
agent, that seems to no longer be an issue between the two parties.

Eli Drake has a large list of places he could go, provided the companies
are interested in him. From WWE to AEW, ROH to NJPW among others, Drake is
sure to find his place in the wrestling industry now that he has finally
closed this chapter of his career.

Are you a fan of Drake? Where, if anywhere, do you see him going?
