Kofi Kingston & R-Truth Rewatch Their 2012 SummerSlam Title Defense (Video)

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 07:00 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/kofi-kingston-r-truth-rewatch-their-2012-summerslam-title-defense-video/

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston and R-Truth are the latest Superstars featured
on WWE Playback. The former world tag team champions recently reunited to rewatch their successful title defense against the Prime Time Players at SummerSlam 2012.

R-Truth did suggest a possible second chance for the short-lived tag team, wanting to get back in the ring with Kofi Kingston for a future tag team championship run. There are some obviously flaws in this plan, however, as Kingston has his hands full currently defending the WWE Championship, and
the Smackdown tag belts are currently held by well, him and his New Day brothers Big E and Xavier Woods.

    Check out the video below.

3 More Unannounced Matches Reportedly Scheduled for WWE SummerSlam

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 06:30 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/3-more-unannounced-matches-reportedly-scheduled-for-wwe-summerslam/

There are 11 matches currently confirmed for this years WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, taking place at the Scotiabank Arena on Sunday, July 11th.

As noted, one of those announced matches Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz is actually a red herring for a much different bout on the schedule, as a WWE legend is reportedly slated to appear and take on the Showoff.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the internal schedule for
the show is also listing a Fatal 4-Way match for the WWE Womens Tag Team Championships. The IIconics are slated to defend their titles against the
teams of Asuka and Kairi Sane, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville, as well as
    Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce have defended their titles on three occasions,
all on television, in matches totaling about 8 minutes collectively. The
belts have not been defended on WWE pay-per-view since The IIconics won
them at WrestleMania 35, despite a total of six live WWE Network specials having taken place since April.

Other matches currently on the schedule for SummerSlam that have yet to be announced include Drew Gulak defending the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Oney Lorcan, and Cedric Alexander vs. Drew McIntyre.

With the big news about Roman Reigns expected opponent for the show, that
makes 14 matches in total including those reported about in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The 2018 incarnation of SummerSlam had 13 matches, with 3 matches on the pre-show, and 6 of the matches, including the main event, were under 7
minutes in total. Somehow we still dont have confirmation on an Intercontinental Championship bout, or defenses of either of the mens tag
    team titles.

    Heres the reported match card:

    UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Seth Rollins

    WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Randy Orton

    RAW WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

    Becky Lynch (c) vs. Natalya

    SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

    Bayley (c) vs. Ember Moon

    WWE U.S. CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

    AJ Styles (c) vs. Ricochet

IF OWENS LOSES, HE WILL QUIT WWE

    Kevin Owens vs. Shane McMahon

WWE WOMENS TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

The IIconics (c) vs. Kabuki Warriors vs. Mandy Rose/Sonya Deville vs. Alexa Bliss/Nikki Cross

    WWE CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Drew Gulak (c) vs. Oney Lorcan

    Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Balor

Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz Goldberg

    Aleister Black vs. Sami Zayn

    Charlotte Flair vs. Trish Stratus

    Roman Reigns vs. Daniel Bryan

    Cedric Alexander vs. Drew McIntyre

Backstage News on Who Was Behind Roman Reigns Recent Attack

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 05:40 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/backstage-news-on-who-was-behind-roman-reigns-recent-attack/

In case you missed this Tuesdays episode of Smackdown
Live, someone attempted to bury Roman Reigns under a mountain of production equipment just seconds before he was slated to make a challenge for the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the mystery attacker and
the Superstar currently on the schedule to face Reigns at the 2019 summer classic is none other than Daniel Bryan.

This should come as a major surprise to most, as the obvious direction for Reigns at SummerSlam over the past few weeks has been another collision
with Samoa Joe. In fact, the two just fought on Monday Night Raw this week, resulting in a wild brawl that ended up involving Drew McIntyre, Cedric Alexander, Luke Gallows, Karl Anderson and The Usos.

Adding to Bryan to the mix definitely comes out of left field. WWE has been teasing a career-altering announcement from the former world champion for
three weeks now, but the former leader (and killer) of the Yes Movement has
so far refused to actually speak.

As for what happens between Reigns and Joe, we dont know

Fandango Says the Fashion Police Need to be "Reimagined" After Return to NXT

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 05:20 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/fandango-says-the-fashion-police-need-to-be-reimagined-after-return-to-nxt/

In case you missed it, Fandango made his return to WWE NXT this Wednesday
night after being out of action for more than a year. The former Fashion
Files expert saved his long-time friend and tag team partner Tyler Breeze
from a 3-on-1 beatdown at the hands of the Forgotten Sons.

Cameras caught up with the reunited Breezango backstage and asked what was
next for the tag team stars now that they are apparently back together. Fandango informed Breeze that he was in too deep during his time away, and
that he realized that their fashion sense has become wack, and that they
may need to be reimagined going forward

Dolph Ziggler Reportedly Slated to Face WWE Legend at SummerSlam

    Posted: 01 Aug 2019 05:00 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/dolph-ziggler-reportedly-slated-to-face-wwe-legend-at-summerslam/

Earlier this week it was officially announced that Dolph Ziggler would be facing The Miz at the upcoming WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view on Sunday,
    August 11th.

However, as first reported by Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com that match is actually a red herring to throw fans off the scent of what is really happening at this years summer classic.

In the July 29th edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was
reported that there will be a Dolph Ziggler match on the show, but that it would not be against either The Miz or Shawn Michaels, who he attacked with
a superkick last week on Smackdown Live.

The newest issue of the Observer has an update on the situation, in that
WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg is reportedly slated to face Ziggler at SummerSlam, stemming from several weeks of the Showoff trashing the WCW
icon at every opportunity, including live promos on Raw and Smackdown.

Goldberg, 52, will not be the only legend appearing on the show. Fellow WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus will be coming out of retirement to wrestle Charlotte Flair in something of a cross-era dream match.

All Elite Wrestlings First Contract Signing Featured on New Road to All Out

    Posted: 31 Jul 2019 06:00 PM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/all-elite-wrestlings-first-contract-signing-featured-on-new-road-to-all-out/

All Elite Wrestling added a unique, more realistic spin on the classic
contract signing segment on this weeks episode of The Road to All Out, as
Cody Rhodes and Shawn Spears officially signed on the dotted line to make
their match official for the August 31 pay-per-view.

The video, which you can check out below, kicks off with a scathing
monologue from MJF who is still livid after Spears attacked his so-called
best friend with a steel chair to the head at AEW Fight for the Fallen
    earlier this summer.

I would never in a million years do something like that to someone that I considered a friend. That wasnt just a chair shot. He was trying to end
that mans career. Shawn Spears Ive said it once, and Im gonna say it a thousand times is a piece of s***.

We then see footage of Cody out for a run with Pharaoh and working out
around the city, as at the same time Shawn Spears and the legendary Tully Blanchard made their way across town to the headquarters, and sat down in
    the AEW office.

AEW VP Business Operations Nic Sobic and Chief Legal Officer of AEW and the Jacksonville Jaguars, Megha Parekh, introduce themselves and are there to oversee the contract signing and mediate any potential issues or re-writes. They call Cody, but he is shown working out and sends the call to
voicemail, which Shawn and Tully are not happy about.

Tully goes on to examine the contract and they demand a change to one of
the lines, limiting Cody Rhodes to only having one man at ringside in his corner for the match at All Out. Blanchard will of course be in Spears
corner. The American Nightmare eventually shows up at the last minute,
walks in and signs the contract without reading it. He doesnt want to hear about the change made, and walks out of the room without even looking at
    his opponent.
