Two For One. A Pair Of NXT Women Suffer Bad Leg Injuries On The Same Day.

https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/two-one-pair-nxt-women-suffer-bad-leg-injuries-day/
Double ouch. Wrestling is a very dangerous sport and no matter what you
do, there is no way to completely guarantee the wrestlers’ safety. You can have all the training and experience in the world and sometimes, accidents
just happen. Sometimes these injuries are not as severe as others, but
over the weekend there was a pair of them, both on the same day for the
same promotion.
On Saturday night, according to 411mania.com, both Rachel Ellering and
Karen Q of NXT suffered leg injuries. Ellering was injured during a match
in Fort Pierce, Florida during a match against Lacey Lane. There is no
word on how the injury took place during the match but the match was immediately stopped and Ellering was carried out. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Ellering completely blew her knee out.
Here are some shots of Ellering being treated:

On the same night, NXT was holding another show in Atlanta, Georgia when
Karen Q broke her leg when she was teaming with Bianca Belair against Rhea Ripley and Rhea Gonzalez. Karen Q has since tweeted about the match, confirming her injury and sharing a photo of an x-ray of her leg. She has
yet to make her television debut but has wrestled on the NXT house show
circuit for several months.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to finish the #NXTRoadTrip. I’m so proud of the matches I had this weekend and grateful to have the best family,
friends & coworkers. My leg is broken, but I will be back! Thanks to all
who have reached out and showed me love! #HoldMyDrinkIllBeBack pic.twitter.com/0KFgnm2RLt
- Karen Q (@karenmeee) July 28, 2019
Ellering has been in and around NXT more than once. Check out a match of
hers against Sonya Deville:
[This post contains video, click to play]
And Karen Q was part of the Mae Young Classic. Check out her first round
match from last year:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: That’s quite the rough night for NXT and their women’s division in general. Hopefully neither of them are very bad, though a broken leg is
kind of hard to overcome in a hurry. Neither of them have been on
television much lately, but that doesn’t make their injuries any less important. Ellering’s could be a lot worse than it seems, but maybe it won’t be as bad as it could be. With some luck, the two of them can be
back in the ring sooner than later.
Which of these two has more potential? Who will be on television first?

You Dont See That Every Day. Renee Young Insults Her Own Skills As A Commentator, Paige Responds.

https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/dont-see-every-day-renee-young-insults-commentary-skills/
She’s self aware and knows how to talk. As the first full time female commentator for WWE, Renee Young is in an interesting place in the
company. It’s certainly a tough job and Young has been trying her hardest, but her work has not been the most well received by the fans. However, she
is still out there live on television every Monday night and that is going
to get some people talking.
Over the weekend, a fan on Twitter insulted Young, saying that he was tired
of WWE putting bad commentators on their television shows. Young responded with a joke, though another fan insulted her as well. This sent Young into
an explanation, saying that she understands that she is “not great on commentary” but is working to get better at it every week. Young said that she was trying to improve, but it was hard to get better weekly on a global television show.

Here’s the truth. I know im not great on commentary, but it’s my job. I try to get better each week. People love to tell me how bad I am at it as if I think I’m great at it. So I should just quit? What would that say about me?Not easy to learn a skill on a gigantic global tv show

Young has been on the job for about a year now. Check out a look at her
first night on Monday Night Raw:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: It’s true that she might not be the best commentator in the world but it is the same problem that a lot of younger wrestlers have. They go
from the safe and small world of NXT to performing on the biggest wrestling show in the world. It isn’t unreasonable to see the learning curve hit
them in a hurry. Young is in the same boat as all of them and while it is
easy to blame her for everything, it isn’t exactly fair.
What did you think of Young’s statement? Who is the best commentator in

Thats Getting Nasty. A Wrestling Feud Has Taken It Up A Notch.

https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/thats-getting-nasty-wrestling-feud-taken-notch/
That got serious fast. Wrestling is an interesting case study as wrestlers play characters but also have to maintain some semblance of a life outside
of the ring. That can make for some interesting exchanges when the cameras
are off, but the advent of the internet changes everything. In this case
some wrestlers are really going at it on Twitter and one just took it a bit further.
Since last week’s Raw Reunion, current WWE star Lacey Evans and Hall of
Famer Alundra Blayze have been arguing back and forth on Twitter. The
argument started when Evans insulted the concept of legends and Blayze came back with a statement about Evans failing at everything she does. The
argument intensified on Sunday with Blayze suggesting a legend vs. current wrestler match and Evans threatening to lose her career over the beating
she would give Blayze if she talked about Evans’ family again. Blayze responded with one more insult and another jab at Evans’ family. Here is
the exchange.
We need another legend vs current talent match at #Summerslam Who would you
all like to see
- Madusa/AlundraBlayze (@Madusa_rocks) July 28, 2019
I volunteer to rip you out of your retirement home and make you choke on
your words.
Legend or not..youre disrespectful, swollen headed nasty that has it
coming.
Talk about my family again.. Ill lose this career gladly waving goodbye
with your blood on my hands. #Shoot
https://t.co/TDzQwwoU3M
- Lacey Evans ~ WWE Superstar (@LaceyEvansWWE) July 28, 2019
And then we have this disgruntled Youngin wanting to continue to ride on
the coattails of a Hall of Famer. #letsfight PS how is that wonderful
family of yours
- Madusa/AlundraBlayze (@Madusa_rocks) July 28, 2019
Evans knows how to get nasty with successful wrestlers. Check out her
calling out Charlotte earlier this year:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: I have no idea if this is a work or a shoot but unless it is
leading to a match, which it could be, I don’t know if I see the point.
The insults are getting intense and these two aren’t being mentioned on television whatsoever. I’m not sure if I get where this is going, though I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in seeing what these two say to each other next.
Will this lead to a match? Who is the best wrestler on Twitter? Let us

Where Theyre Going, They Dont Need NXT (Maybe). Here Are The Next
Countries WWE Is Focusing On.

Targets acquired. Whether you like them or not, there is no real way to
argue against WWE being the biggest wrestling promotion in the world. They dominate every business area of the market in almost every part of the
globe, but that doesn’t mean they’re done with their expansion. There are always more places to go after and WWE seems to have two new locations on
their radar.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Triple H recently met with officials from the Japanese Stardom and Dragon Gate promotions during WWE’s trip to Japan. There is no word on any particular talents WWE is
interested in. WWE is also interested in talent from Australia, with many
of their recent signings coming from there. At the moment, there is no indication of WWE starting an NXT promotion in either country.
WWE certainly has some roads into Japan. Check out Shinsuke Nakamura’s homecoming:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: This is where WWE is going to be able to win a long term war.
They have more money than they know what to do with and enough satellite promotions to keep a lot of talent busy. While that can do a lot of good things for WWE, it also keeps the talent away from any potential
competition the company might have. Throw in the possibility of an NXT promotion in those countries and it’s easy to see why this is a good idea
for WWE.
Which of these countries is a better prospect? Where else can they go?

Heres What Trish Stratus Will Be Doing During "The Kings Court" on

Its come to light over the past couple of days that WWE officials are
planning for Trish Stratus to take on Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam in
Toronto. Thats a great spot for the WWE Hall of Famer to have what many consider to be a dream bout in her hometown.
However, Trish has not been featured on WWE programming yet and there are
only a few weeks left of build before the biggest party of the summer. WWE officials are more than aware of that fact and intend to use Trishs return
on SmackDown to start the feud.
Related: Charlotte Flair vs. Trish Stratus at Summerslam Has Been a Long
Time Coming
According to a report from WrestlingNews.co, Trish Stratus will be featured during the Kings Court segment led by Jerry Lawler on this weeks SmackDown Live. That will be the spot for Charlotte and Trish to cross paths and for Flair to lay out the challenge.
Its going to be interesting to see these women build to their dream match
in only two weeks. That could benefit their feud because the match
essentially books itself. Theres no reason to have weeks of promos,
especially when this is the kind of feud where the powers that be do their
best to keep the wrestlers away from each other until the PPV.
Charlotte is the only woman in WWE history with more title reigns than
Trish Stratus:
This is a natural situation for Charlotte Flair to get a big win over a WWE Hall of Famer and the woman most consider to be an all time great. Thats a natural situation for the veteran to put over the younger talent, but that depends if this is a one match situation.
Do you consider Trish Stratus or Charlotte Flair to be the bigger star in
WWE history?

In With The Old. Former WWE World Champion Medically Cleared For Return To Ring.
Posted: 28 Jul 2019 06:28 PM PDT
https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/old-former-wwe-world-champion-medically-cleared-return-ring/
He’s a sizable addition. You can never have too much talent on your roster and that is the case as soon as anyone can be added back from the injury
list. That can help any wrestling company, including WWE, quite a bit with healed up wrestlers adding a nice boost to the show. As it turns out, we
might be getting ready for the in-ring return of one of the biggest stars around.
After last night’s WWE Smackville special, a new documentary aired on the
WWE Network, focusing on Big Show. During the documentary, it was
announced that Big Show is now cleared to return to the ring and has been
since the week before WrestleMania 35. This news comes after several
months on the injured list due to a hip injury, requiring a hip
replacement. Big Show is currently waiting on creative to come up with a
way to bring him back to television. His most recent match took place on
the November 20, 2018 SmackDown Live.
Big Show has won a lot over his career. Check out his World Title
victories:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: I’m not sure how much value Big Show has at the top of the card,
but he certainly has value to WWE. He has been in the company for the
better part of twenty years and someone with that kind of experience can do
a lot of good things for the roster. If nothing else, having a veteran presence is never a bad thing, even if all he does is give advice to
younger wrestlers.

It Just Keeps Growing. Here Are Several Possible Matches To Be Added To
The Summerslam Card.

https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/just-keeps-growing-several-possible-matches-added-summerslam-card/
They still have a lot to cover. We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and the card is starting to fill up. A handful of the card’s matches have already been confirmed, though most of them are top matches
for major titles. That leaves a lot of room left on the show to fill up
and WWE is running out of time. While matches still need to be announced,
we may know what to expect.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there are several matches
that WWE has in mind for the pay per view which will be announced in the
coming days. These matches include the IIconics vs. the Kabuki Warriors
(and perhaps Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville) for the SmackDown Tag Team
Titles, the Revival vs. the Usos for the Raw Tag Team Titles, the New Day
vs. Samoa Joe and Elias for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles, AJ Styles vs. Ricochet for the United States Title and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Ali for the Intercontinental Title. There is no word on when these matches will be announced.
One match is already set. Check out a World Title match being confirmed:
[This post contains video, click to play]
Opinion: Most of these matches have been set up in advance and it would
make sense to have a few of them added to the show. Summerslam is going to
be a very long night and it is going to need a lot of matches to really
fill in all that time. If nothing else though, a list like this shows you
just how many titles the company has. There are going to be far more title matches on the show than non-title matches and that might not be the best
idea in the world.
Which of these matches sounds best? What else should be added? Let us
know in the comments below.

Major Health Update on Finn Balor Heading into SummerSlam

Last night at Smackville, Finn Balor was scheduled to challenge Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship. However, he wasnt cleared
to compete because of an illness and Ali took his place on the show before Nakamura retained the IC Title.
Theres been some concern for Balors well being over the last twenty-four
hours. The WWE Universe is waiting for Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt at
SummerSlam. That match is expected to be the last appearance for Finn
because hes taking a hiatus after the PPV.
Related: Finn Balor Won’t Be Featured on WWE TV After SummerSlam
According to a report from WrestlingNews.co on Sunday, a source revealed
that WWE officials are hopeful that Finn will make a full recovery within
48 hours and theres no cause for concern for SummerSlam. Finn Balor posted
the following on Instragram:
View this post on Instagram
Summerslam
A post shared by Finn Bálor Forever (@finnbalor) on Jul 28, 2019 at
10:55am PDT
Obviously, Balor vs. Wyatt will be promoted this week on Raw and SmackDown
Live but it may be on Wyatt to carry the week with promos or a Firefly Fun House segment. Its been revealed that the match at Summerslam will only be
the first of their new rivalry.
As of this writing, WWE officials plan for Balor vs. Wyatt continue after
Finn is back on WWE programming in a few months. That will give the two a
much bigger match with The Demon vs. The Fiend later this year, possibly
even Survivor Series. However, a lot can happen over the coming months and creative plans can always change quickly.
Since Finn Balor is expected to take some time off after SummerSlam, the
fans should be prepared for an angle to write Balor off WWE programming.
That could give Wyatts Fiend a level of brutality and give Finn something
to pursue once he makes his return.
Do you feel like Finn Balors lack of mic skills are holding him back in WWE?

One of the interesting aspects of Raw Reunion was the return of John Cena
to WWE TV for the first time in months. He cut a fun promo to open the show
and was then on the plane back to Hollywood, but was the first glimpse weve
had at Johns new girlfriend.
Reports have claimed that she joined Cena backstage. Naturally, a lot of
people were wondering if Nikki Bella was in attendance backstage. She wasnt
in Tampa for WWEs show. However, some interesting details have come out
about Cenas new relationship.
Related: Here’s Why Nikki Bella and Brie Bella Declined WWE’s Invitation for Raw Reunion
According to a report from RingSideNews on Sunday, Brad Shepard claims that Cena is a lot more serious about his relationship with Shay Shariatzadeh
than he ever was about Nikki Bella. Of course, Shepard doesnt have evidence
on hand to prove that fact, but its the perception thats out there after
John Cena brought Shay to Raw Reunion last week.
John Cena and Nikki Bella were an extremely high profile couple so itll be
a challenge for those two to not be associated with each other in the
press. Nikki is also in a brand new relationship herself so its going to
take some adjusting for the WWE Universe.
The hope is to not compare Nikki Bella and Shay Shariatzadeh to one
another. The point all wrestling analysts have taken away is that John Cena looked happy during his time at Raw Reunion. Hes rarely around these days
so its probably enjoyable for the WWE locker room to see John and meet his
new girlfriend for the first time.
Do you believe John Cena should officially retire from wrestling at Mania
36?

Theres a lot of speculation regarding Eric Bischoff leading SmackDown Live
and his role behind the scenes in WWE. Paul Heyman is filling a similar
role for Raw, but hes been hanging around backstage for years. Bischoff
needs to catch up with the process.
All reports have Eric Bischoff taking things slow behind the scenes thus
far. However, some information has come to light about Eric being careful
about how to work with a lot of talents backstage. One of the people that Bischoff is watching is Shane McMahon.
Related: Here’s What Eric Bischoff Has Planned For Daniel Bryan on
SmackDown Live
According to a report from RingSideNews on Saturday, Eric Bischoff has
learned over the years that people behind the scenes with creative control
are a problem. That was a significant problem for WCW during Bischoffs
tenure and it led to a lot of problems.
Its for that reason, Eric doesnt want to oversee Shane McMahon and ruffled feathers backstage. Shane is one of the top heels on SmackDown Live and WWE programming at the moment. Therefore, the situation between Bischoff and
Shane is really interesting.
Eric Bischoff lays out how pro wrestling has made an impact in other
industries as well:
Shane McMahon is headed for a match at SummerSlam with Kevin Owens. The
current momentum of the storyline has a lot of people believing this would
be the payoff of the long heel run that Shane has been on for quite some
time. With McMahon putting over Kevin Owens and Bischoff coming into the
fold, it seems Shane will be take a backseat.

RUMOR: Tommaso Ciampa Making In-Ring Return After SummerSlam; Headed to

Before NXT Takeover: New York, Tommaso Ciampa was forced to vacate the NXT Title before culminating his epic feud with Johnny Gargano. In his absence, Adam Cole and Gargano had two incredible matches with both men becoming NXT World Champion.
Ciampas next issues ended his run as one of the top heels in the business without the appropriate payoff. The NXT Universe knew that Tomasso would
miss a significant amount of time, but the NXT Universe finally has a
timetable for his in-ring return.
Related: NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa Needs Neck Surgery. What Does This
Mean For The Title?
Fightful Select is reporting that Tommaso Ciampa is expected to be
medically cleared to return to the ring by mid-August. He wont be available
for NXT Takeover: Toronto II or SummerSlam, but he could make an appearance
on either show over the weekend.
WWEs doctors may hold up the process for a few more months, but the NXT Universe can expect Ciampas return to shortly. The biggest question around
his return is if the former NXT Champion will be back on NXT television or
move to Raw or SmackDown?
Heres the excellent look at Tommaso Ciampas road to recovery on WWEPC:
Ciampa has unfinished business in NXT with Johnny Gargano and it wouldnt
make a lot of sense for his character to just forget about Goldie. WWE officials are likely to have a number of NXT performers moved to the main roster after SummerSlam. Tommaso can be someone to keep the brand going
strong while the new crop of talent comes to TV.
However, Ciampa was on the main roster before his injury and he probably
would have made the jump to the main roster himself after New York. Its a
tough choice, but he will be successful no matter which brand hes featured
on. Thats the only sure thing.
Do you want to see Tommaso Ciampa back on NXT or on the main roster?
