The Details Are Coming In. We Have Some New Details On AEWs Plans Going Forward.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2019 01:07 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/details-coming-new-details-aews-plans-going-forward/

They do seem to have a plan. AEW is in an interesting place at the moment
as they have presented a series of shows and will be having another one
next month with All Out. After that though, we are coming up on their
weekly television show and that is where things are going to get more interesting. With so little time left before the show starts, some details need to be set and that seems to be the case now.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW has a few plans for its future. They are planning to run about 100-120 events a year, including 51 live television shows (with one week off on Christmas Day), meaning about
one house show a week. The arenas for their television shows will hold
about 6,000 to 11,000 people, with some unique venues being used throughout
    the year.

They’re ready for the show. Check out the trailer for the upcoming AEW television series:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This sounds like a rather well done setup, though I’m not sure how much of a profit everything is going to make. It’s going to be interesting to see how long they can keep up the string of sellouts, as some of the
novelty might wear off once these shows are taking place every single
week. It’s one thing to have a single show be well received. Doing it
every week could be something else entirely.

Does the plan make sense? How many shows will they sell out? Let us know
    in the comments below.

Thats Just Sad. WWE Superstar Arrested For DUI, WWE Issues Statement.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2019 01:03 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/thats-just-sad-wwe-superstar-arrested-dui-wwe-issues-statement/

There’s no good way to spin this. While they may not seem like it,
wrestlers are people just like you and me. They have problems, issues and things to deal with and sometimes, those things do not go well. Some of
them are a lot worse than others and that can cause trouble for those
people. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with a current WWE
superstar who has been here before.

According to WEAR-TV (ABC affiliate in Pensacola, Florida), Jimmy Uso was pulled over on Thursday morning on suspicion of DUI and driving 86 miles
per hour in a 45 miles per hour zone. The deputy police officer said that
Uso had trouble standing and seemed confused while being told several times
to sit in the police car. Uso was arrested for DUI and taken to the
Escambia County jail where he was kept for nearly eight hours before being bonded out. He is due in court on August 15. This is the second alcohol
related issue for Uso this year after a vehicle he was in was pulled over, causing him to nearly get in a fight with the -officer.

The WWE has issued a statement on the issue, saying that “Jonathan Fatu is responsible for his own personal actions.”

    Here is Usos mugshot:

The Usos were in action on Monday and doing a bit better. Check out their
    match with the Revival:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: As mentioned, what is there to say about this? Uso seems to have a problem in this area and it is something that he is going to need to fix in
one way or another. At the moment, I can’t imagine WWE releases him as they would be too afraid of the Usos winding up in AEW, but there is no way that something like this can keep happening as it is only going to wind up
    getting worse.

Will Uso get released? What will happen to the team? Let us know in the comments below.

Ouch. WWE Gets Some Bad News About The WWE Network.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2019 12:59 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/ouch-wwe-gets-bad-news-wwe-network/

Well that’s not good. The WWE Network might be the biggest came changer
for fans in the history of professional wrestling. For a rather low price, fans can now watch almost anything WWE related that they want with the
click of a single button. That is almost impossible to pass up, but as
time is going on, it seems that more and more fans are going with the impossible.

During today’s Q2 2019 Earnings Report by way of Wrestlinginc.com, WWE announced that the WWE Network averaged 1.688 million paid subscribers in
the quarter, down 6% from the 1.8 million during the same quarter in 2018. Domestic subscriptions are also down to 1.237 million from 1.316 million
(-6%) over the same span. It should be noted that the second quarter
includes WrestleMania, which is usually the peak of subscribers for the
    year.

This is the kind of thing you can get on the WWE Network. Check out an ad
    for an upcoming special:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: It’s yet another sign that WWE is not doing well at the moment and really, that’s not too surprising. Fans just do not care about what they’re presenting at the moment and that could not be much more clear.
Maybe things can get better, but this is another example of how bad things
are going. The Network isn’t going anywhere, but they definitely need to
    fix the product being presented.

Are you a Network subscriber? What would it take to make you drop it? Let
us know in the comments below.

Not So Fast. Here Are The Last Minute Changes Vince McMahon Made To This
    Weeks SmackDown Live.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2019 12:55 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/not-fast-last-minute-changes-vince-mcmahon-made-weeks-smackdown-live/

He is still the boss. One of the biggest wrestling stories of the year has been the addition of Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman to the SmackDown Live
and Monday Night Raw executive teams, with the two of them taking over the respective shows. This changed quite a bit, but the caveat was that Vince McMahon was still in charge. That was made known on one of this week’s TV shows.

According to Wrestlinginc.com, this week’s SmackDown Live was changed at
the last minute by McMahon himself. McMahon showed up at the taping at
around 4PM, decided that he did not like the show, and changed some of the major points. This included Shawn Michaels being on commentary and Daniel Bryan making his career changing announcement. Michaels appeared on MizTV
but Bryan was not seen on the show.

Things don’t go well for McMahon on SmackDown Live. Check out one of his more recent appearances on the show:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is where things can become a major problem. At the end of
the day, none of what is written matters if the boss comes in and changes everything at the last minute. That seems to be what happened here and
that is going to make everything that Bischoff or Heyman can do mean
nothing. McMahon is still the boss and will be until the day he is gone,
which is one of the best and worst things about WWE.

Did you like the show on Tuesday? Would the original have been better?

Thats A Great Thing To Hear. NXT Star Returns From Horrible Injury.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2019 12:51 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/thats-great-thing-hear-nxt-star-returns-horrible-injury/

Welcome back. There are injuries in wrestling and then there are moments
where part of a wrestler’s body seems to explode. That was the case during last year’s Mae Young Classic when a dive to the floor tore just about
every ligament possible in Tegan Nox’s knee. The injury was her second terrible knee injury, but for once, she now has some good news for a change.

In a photo making the rounds on Twitter, Nox made her return to the ring on Thursday night at an NXT house show. This is Nox’s first match back since August 9, 2018 when her knee was destroyed in a match against Rhea Ripley
which was taped for the Mae Young Classic. At the moment, there is no word
on if Nox is with NXT full time, as she had not debuted on NXT TV when she
    was injured.

Making her in ring return, @TeganNoxWWE_ !

    Welcome back. pic.twitter.com/2zo0QiGreA

From a better time. Check out Nox before the injury:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: That’s quite the relief as I felt so sorry for Nox during that injury. No one deserves to go through one of those and it was her second
go around. At least she is back now and hopefully can have a nice, long
career with no more horrible injuries. She is only 24 years old but that
is a long time to go with such terrible problems. It wouldn’t surprise me
if it happens again, but hopefully that isn’t the case.

What did you think of Nox before her injury? How far can she go in NXT?

RUMOR: WWE Officials Still Furious with Goldberg Over Undertaker Match

Its safe to say that Bill Goldberg vs. The Undertaker was a disaster in
Saudi Arabia back in June. The Deadman took some heat for the match, but
hes been featured on WWE TV and it seems the WWE Universe is moving on. We
cant say the same thing for Goldberg.

There are various rumors circulating that Dolph Zigglers mention of Bill Goldberg on SmackDown Live will set up a match between the two at
SummerSlam. That would be a surprise because it seems that WWE officials
still havent forgiven Bill for his role in the embarrassing match with The Undertaker in Saudi Arabia.
Related: Is Goldberg Coming Back For One More Match?

WrestlingNews.co is reporting that Zigglers shots at the former WCW World Champion are an indication of how the powers that be feel about him. They
are also assumed to be a subtle way to take the heat off Undertaker and
shift the blame onto Bills shoulders.

Its also rumored that The Undertaker initially took equal blame for the
match but WWE officials believe it was Bills recklessness that turned the
match into a disaster after he became concussed. It would be a surprise if
he wrestled again for WWE anytime soon.

The tragedy of the entire situation is that the WWE Universe will remember Goldbergs last match as a disaster instead of the thrilling retirement
match he had against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33. Its a pity that the
WWE Hall of Famer did all of that work to make a comeback in 2016 and 2017
to only have his reputation destroyed so quickly.

The speculation that WWE officials are burying him to spare The Undertakers role in the situation is unproven. However, the fact that Goldberg hasnt
been given a chance to redeem himself is a very telling play by the company
    to distance itself from Goldberg.
Do you believe Bill Goldberg deserves an opportunity to redeem himself?

Jon Moxley Shines as the Hottest Star in Pro Wrestling During New Japans G1 Climax

    Posted: 25 Jul 2019 07:19 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tomclark/jon-moxley-shines-hottest-star-pro-wrestling-new-japans-g1-climax/

Jon Moxley is one of the top names in the pro wrestling business right now
and he’s arguably the most must-watch talent  in the world. Moxley is in
the midst of the G1 Climax Tournament in New Japan Pro Wrestling, a company where he’s gone undefeated thus far.

In fact, he’s only lost one match since leaving WWE. That loss came in a
tag team match and he wasn’t the man pinned. All of this is a far cry from where Moxley was in WWE as Dean Ambrose and its further proof that the man behind the name indeed made the right decision by leaving. There is no
denying that Jon Moxley has become the hottest star in the industry.

Win/loss records do not always tell the whole story and fans know that.
Many factors go into how a star is booked, especially in WWE. But it’s impossible to ignore just how vastly different things are between now and
    then.

As Dean Ambrose, he went 3-9 in his last 12 WWE matches. Since he left WWE, Moxley has gone 11-1. While critics say that none of this matters in the
long run, it does shed a light on how much Moxley is valued today, versus
how little he was valued before. It’s as if a switch was flipped when he
left WWE and he became an entire new person afterward. But isn’t that the point?

Watch the highlights from Moxley vs. Ishii!

Longtime WWE fans have seen this story before. A guy is unhappy so he
leaves and suddenly, he gets happy. He or she falls in love with pro
wrestling like never before and they become born again as a talent. Their excitement returns and they have a point to prove to the company that
didn’t give them enough in the first place. But while fans are familiar
with this story, it’s never happened quite like it has with Jon Moxley.

Mox didn’t complain when he was in WWE. He never whined, he never griped
and if he did any of those things, he never did them in front of the fans.
Jon has never been a social media kind of guy and that benefited him during
the last several months of his contract. WWE didn’t want Moxley to leave
and he reportedly turned down a very generous offer to stay. But had he
told the world how unhappy he was and how much he wanted out, how would
that have affected his reputation? Would fans have still been on his side,
or would they have turned on him in the end?

Jon got exactly what he wanted and now he has a new lease on life. Fans
have followed his every move from the moment he returned to the independent circuit and they can obviously see how happy he is. Every time he steps
into the ring now, he’s having the time of his life.

He’s free to be himself and he can do what he wants, when he wants to do
it. There are many WWE Superstars who would surely love a chance to get
what Moxley has, but Jon waited a long time to finally get his way.

Watch highlights from Moxley vs. Cobb!

Moxley earned this new run and it’s clear that he’s making the best of it. Jon Moxley indeed bears little resemblance to Dean Ambrose at this point
and that’s surely by design. Moxley is a dangerous individual and more importantly, he’s a winner. It’s definitely not the same man that fans knew from WWE.

Jon has said he’s going to win the G1. But he’s not the only one saying that of course and while he does have a shot, it’s hard to believe that New Japan would put him over in the tournament. That’s because Moxley is
working in the company on a temporary basis, before he joins AEW full-time
    in October.

Cody Rhodes’ company is going live on the TNT Network on Wednesdays and
many of the talents involved took bookings in other places until the fall. Moxley is one of those talents. So while he’s become the talk of New Japan, the fact is he likely will not be around past October. But that does not
mean he won’t reach some serious milestones before he leaves.

He’s already accomplished quite a bit during his time in The Land of the Rising Sun. He’s currently the IWGP United States champion. He’s over with the crowd and he’s proven that he belongs on the roster. But he’s also earned the faith of New Japan and that’s obvious by his booking since he
    came onboard.

Watch Moxleys post-match interview from July 24!

Moxley has pinfall victories on Tomohiro Ishii and Jeff Cobb, two men that
are considered to be among the best in the company. The match with Ishii in particular is on many fans’ short list for 2019 match of the year. But the same could also be said of Jon’s match with Shingo Takagi, which definitely stood out as a top bout of the tournament.

But while Moxley is certainly not done in New Japan, it’s hard for many
fans to not look past this run and focus on AEW. Considering how far Moxley
has come since leaving WWE, as well as how much he’s connected with the Japanese crowd, it’s safe to assume that he will enter AEW with a world of momentum. That’s a very good thing, as the new company needs top stars who can bring their own spotlight along for the debut on TNT.

Jon Moxley is a bigger star now than he was in WWE and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. He’s seen his share of hard times and now he’s living on the end of the lightning bolt. It’s a spot that he thrives in and it’s one that he completely owns. This is Jon Moxley’s time and he’s
    only just getting started.

    Fusion #67

    Date: July 20, 2019

    Location: Cicero Stadium, Chicago, Illinois

    Commentators: Rich Bocchini, Jim Cornette

Things are changing in a hurry around here with the titles going from one
set of hands to another. Last week saw the Dynasty take the Tag Team Titles from the Hart Foundation in a pretty good ladder match but the feud isn’t over yet. This week we have Alexander Hammerstone defending the Openweight Title against Davey Boy Smith Jr. in what should be a heck of a match.
    Let’s get to it.

Salina de la Renta, in a skeleton suit, talks about Mance Warner getting on
her nerves. We see a clip of Warner going through Promociones Dorado before Salina speaks what I’m assuming is Latin and uses wine to write on a white sheet. She has summoned the demon known as Bestia to deal with him.

    Opening sequence.

The announcers talk about last week’s title change and Mance Warner
stealing the Golden Ticket from LA Park.

Earlier today, Davey Boy Smith Jr.’s sister interviewed the Dynasty, who isn’t worried about Hammerstone’s defense. Richard Holliday thinks Smith couldn’t sell an Oreo to a glass of milk and Hammerstone says explaining
his dominance to Smith is like explaining color to a blind person. The interview ends and Smith’s sister doesn’t have anything kind to say to any of them.
National Openweight Title: Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs. Alexander Hammerstone

Hammerstone is defending with the Dynasty out here and Smith all on his
own. Before the match, Holliday says the consumers should be happy to be
here because they’re breathing rarefied air. Maxwell Jacob Friedman says he smells poor people and explains the Hart Family being raised near a nuclear power plant. That’s why Teddy Hart wears so many weird outfits: he’s hiding his gills. Hammerstone says enough of the insults because it’s time to
    fight.

We get a rather aggressive lockup to start and Cornette yells about
Friedman yelling at fans and taking focus off the match. Hammerstone’s headlock doesn’t get him very far and a shoulder exchange goes to a
standoff. Smith skins the cat and kicks Hammerstone in the face, meaning
it’s time for a breather. That doesn’t last long as Smith goes outside and kicks away but a Dynasty distraction lets Hammerstone get in a shot to the throat.

Back in and Hammerstone manages a missile dropkick and Smith is in big
trouble in a hurry. The chinlock goes on and Friedman uses the change to
yell at more fans. That doesn’t last long and Hammerstone hits a crazy impressive dropkick for his size. Hammerstone hits a running powerslam for
one on Smith and you know that’s firing him up.

Smith wins a slugout and hits a powerbomb into a jackknife cover for two of
his own. It’s time to go up with Hammerstone shoving the referee into the ropesbut doesn’t crotch Smith. Instead Hammerstone gets up and knocks him down, setting up a heck of a superplex. The Nightmare Pendulum is countered into a Crossface but Hammerstone powers out. A distraction lets Holliday
get in a few cheap shots but Smith is right back with a release German
    suplex.

Hammerstone hits one of his own, only to have Smith pop up with some
rolling German suplexes. A bridging belly to back gives Smith two and it’s
a top rope headbutt, which looked like a splash. There’s no cover though, allowing MJF to spit on the Canadian flag. That’s enough for Smith, who
grabs the flag and beats up the Dynasty for the DQ at 9:30.

Result: Alexander Hammerstone b. Davey Boy Smith Jr. via DQ when Smith used
    the Canadian flag (9:30)

Video on the Von Erichs wanting to stop Contra.

Just in case it didn’t click the first time, we look at Warner tormenting Salina and company last week.

Konnan has Salina’s phone and tells her to be nice to him or a lot of
    secrets are coming out.

Video on Contra, who has taken over now that they have the World Title. Now they want contracts and they’re open to the highest bidder.

Next week: Contra vs. Von Erichs.

Mance Warner has made a list of things to do, which is the word KILL over
and over. Salina can send the devil after him and he’ll be waiting with a chain around his fist. He rubs blood on his face and says he’s going headhunting.
    Los Parks vs. Los Wagners

Salina is out with the Parks. That would be LA Park/Hijo de LA Park vs. Dr. Wagner Jr./Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. To clarify, I’ll be calling them Park,
Hijo de Park, Wagner and Hijo de Wagner respectively and hoping for the
best. The two fathers start things off with Wagner cleaning house early on. Everything breaks down and the Parks are sent outside for the double
    suicide dives.

Back in and Hijo de Park gets knocked down again, allowing both Wagners to
beat up Park in the corner. Hijo de Wagner gets two off a Cannonball in the corner and Wagner hits a basement dropkick to Hijo de Park. Hijo de Wagner
goes up top but gets caught in a springboard Spanish Fly from Hijo de Park, leaving Park to powerslam Wagner for stereo twos. Hijo de Park hits a Code
Red on his dad to drive them into Hijo de Wagner for two as the air horns
    are strong here.

The Parks hit their own (and harder) stereo suicide dives to the floor and it’s time for a quick breather. Back in and the fathers slug it out until Park pulls Wagner’s mask off (he lost it in 2017 so it’s not the biggest deal). Wagner doesn’t seem to mind and pulls Park off the middle rope with
a super cutter for two. Park headbutts the heck out of him as Cornette
talks about seeing Mil Mascaras without his mask and not being able to
believe it. Wagner’s DDT gets two on Park and we settle down into something resembling a tag match about eight minutes in.

The sons slug it out in the middle with Hijo de Wagner hitting a scoop
spinning Angle Slam for two as the dads are now on the apron. A leg lariat takes Hijo de Wagner down for two and a Codebreaker out of the corner gives Hijo de Park the same. Hijo de Wagner is back up with a bunch of strikes
for a double knockdown, which brings in the dads for a cover each.

The dads stay in with Wagner taking him down and stopping for some pushups. Park crotches him on top (breaking the turnbuckle pad in the process) but a
top rope splash hits raised boots. Wagner hits a running flip dive off the apron, with his feet crashing into the announcers’ table on the landing.
That leaves Hijo de Park to hit a Code Red for two on Hijo de Wagner, who
is right back with a jumping enziguri on the apron.

They fight over an apron superplex until Hijo de Wagner settles for a
regular version for two with Park making the save. Wagner is back in with a suicide dive onto Park, followed by a much harder one from Hijo de Park.
Hijo de Wagner hits one of his own (Rich: “Oh no not again.”) as the announcers are rethinking their careers. Back in and Park spears Hijo de
Wagner for the pin at 16:29.

Result: Los Parks b. Los Wagners Spear to Hijo de Wagner (16:29)

CM Punk hasnt wrestled a match in five and a half years, but wrestling fans
are still talking about the possibility of him being All Out. Since AEWs inception, there have been consistent rumors about Punk signing with the company despite his absence.

With All Out being held in Chicago and Punk agreeing to do Starrcast that weekend, its obvious why wrestling fans would get their hopes up. However,
Punk explained his appearance at Starrcast during a recent interview with
    ESPN. He said the following:

    All Out Weekend

They asked if I wanted to do Starrcast. Thats basically it. Theres no mad scientist formula to it. I hate traveling. Ive turned down offers to do signings in other places. It turns into a mission to leave town just to do
a signing and stuff. I like to take time with everybody and make sure
everybody has a good experience. I try not to just shuffle people through a line, Punk explained.

For those of you who dont know what it is, its not just somebody shoves something in front of me, I sign it and its on to the next. I really try to make sure everybody has a story to tell or an experience. Sometimes it can
be exhausting. The biggest thing was its in my hometown. I get to go for
one day, I get to have fun, I get to give back to the fans, so to speak.
And I get to go home and rest afterward.

During the interview, CM Punk also addressed his relationships with The
Young Bucks and Cody, the hype around him and AEW and his commentary
for Cage Fury Fighting Championship events. You can find the full interview with CM Punk right here.
Why do you think wrestling fans still want to see CM Punk wrestle another match?
