Thats A New One. NXT Star Tells A Bizarre Story About Being Banned From
WWE For Life.

That’s….unique? One of the most entertaining things in wrestling is to see where WWE wrestlers came from. There are a lot of different paths to take
to the biggest wrestling company in the world, with several of them toiling
in the indies to get there and others coming up through the NXT ranks.
That makes for some great stories, as well as the occasional odd ones.

NXT and 205 Live wrestler Oney Lorcan posted a Tweet to his account on
Friday night, talking about being banned from WWE for live starting in
2011. Lorcan says that he was “out of control” backstage and was escorted out of the arena by police at Vince McMahon’s orders. Fandango then got
him out of the doghouse years later and is now wrestling on the WWE
roster. Lorcan does not offer any more details, but does recommend asking Fandango for more on the story.

Opinion: I’m not sure what Lorcan did to get thrown out, but maybe it was talking in a voice that was a bit louder than it should have been, just
like his Twitter style (he does it in every Tweet). Lorcan may never
become a top star, but he’s someone who can show up and be a good hand on
the roster, which is always something you can use. Just tone down the caps
on Twitter.

The N(e)xt One. WWE Announces NXT Star Making A Very Fast Main Roster
Debut.

It’s a fast promotion. One of the coolest parts of being a WWE fan is getting to see who is called up to the main roster from NXT. There are all kinds of talented people down in the developmental territory and WWE has
been calling up a lot of people over the last few months. As it turns out,
we already have a new name who is coming up, even if it might not be a permanent one.

As announced on WWE.com, NXT’s new talent Isaiah Scott will be appearing on next week’s 205 Live in a non-title match against Cruiserweight Champion
Drew Gulak. Scott, better known as Shane Strickland, has only appeared
once in NXT, losing in the first round of the Breakout Tournament. At the moment, there is no reason to believe that this is going to be more than a
one off appearance.

Opinion: This is something that could be rather interesting as Scott is one
of the most naturally talented people currently in NXT. While I can’t imagine that he’s going to be called up anytime soon, it’s cool to see him show up and see what he can do. This is something that WWE has done
before, though that doesn’t make it any less fun. Hopefully the match is
as good as it could be.

RUMOR: One More For The Card. Summerslam To Include A Six Man Tag.

You have to fill the card up somehow. We are currently sitting at less
than four weeks away from Summerslam, which is going to be one of the
biggest shows of the year. By bigger I mean longer, with several matches
on the Kickoff Show to make the night even longer. You have to come up
with a way to use up all of that time and a big match might be added to the card to help do that.

According to Tom Colohue of PW Torch, WWE is planning a six man tag for Summerslam between the Club and the team of the Usos and Ricochet. The
Club combined to help AJ Styles win the United States Title from Ricochet
at Extreme Rules and then the Usos teamed with Ricochet in an unrelated six
man tag the following night on Monday Night Raw. This match would take
place in place of a rematch for the United States Title.

#Summerslam is likely to feature The Club vs Ricochet and The Usos rather
than a US title rematch. #wwe #raw

Opinion: Works for me. I can always go for a good six man tag as they can
be a great way to get a bunch of people on the show in a logical way. This
is a fine way to do something smart and the teams would be capable of
having a good due to pure talent. It’s also nice to see the Good Brothers getting a chance on the main roster instead of just having them sit around doing nothing for weeks on end.

(VIDEO): The Next Big Thing. 73 NXT Monster Makes In-Ring Debut And Looks Pretty Awesome.

That’s a tall order indeed. Wrestling is, above all else, a visual
medium. You can hear about wrestling, you can read about wrestling and you
can talk about wrestling, but at the end of the day, it’s all about what
you can see in wrestling that really matters. That’s why it’s such a big deal to have something that you have to see to believe, which NXT may have
just done.

On Thursday at an NXT live event in Lakeland, Florida, the 7’3 Jordan Omogbehin made his in-ring debut in a handicap match. Omogbehin went on to
win the match over the also recently signed team of 3.0. Omogbehin signed
with the company in October 2018 in the same class as Matt Riddle, Mia Yim
and Humberto Carrillo among others. There is no word on when he could make
his television debut.

This is one of those things that needs to be seen to be believed. Check
out the new giant in action:

Opinion: Now that’s a giant. His size and look alone are going to be
enough to keep him around for a very long time and there’s nothing wrong
with that. If NXT can teach him how to be even passable in the ring, they could have something special on their hand. You can’t teach that kind of size and Omogbehin is one of the tallest wrestlers in WWE history. This
could be good, and there is a real chance WWE could do this right.

The Early Ads Get The Shows. Venue Advertises Two Matches For Hell In A
Cell 2019.

It’s never too late to start planning ahead. WWE has a lot of material to cover every single week, but there are some weeks where it gets even more packed than usual. That is the case when the company offers a pay per view event, which often runs five hours or so on any given Sunday night. That
is the case again in October but we might already know some of what to
expect.

According to 411mania.com, the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California,
the site of the Hell In A Cell event on October 6, is advertising Drew
McIntyre vs. Seth Rollins and WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Randy Orton
for the event. There is no indication of either of these matches taking
place inside the Cell. Keep in mind that these advertisements could be placeholders and may likely be changed by the time the show takes place.

Opinion: I wouldn’t put a lot of stock into advertisements for a show two
and a half months from now, but they wouldn’t be the longest shots in the world. The idea of Kingston having a six month title reign is almost impossible to believe but at the moment he’s well over halfway there.
Rollins vs. McIntyre could be interesting, assuming McIntyre has broken
away from Shane McMahon by then.

Double Shot. Heres Why Steve Austin Is Appearing On Raw Reunion.

Killing two birds with one appearance. I don’t think it’s going to be any secret that next week’s Raw Reunion is going to be a big deal. The event
is going to feature a ton of stars that have not been seen in a very long
time, though some of them are much bigger deals than others. That would include one of the biggest stars of all time, though there might be another reason for him to show up.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Austin is likely appearing
on the show to promote his new series Straight Up Steve Austin. The series will be debuting on August 12 on the USA Network after Monday Night Raw, meaning that Austin will probably be promoting the show while at Raw
Reunion. Straight Up Steve Austin is an interview series that will feature Austin talking to and doing things with various celebrities.

Opinion: There’s nothing wrong with doing something like this, though
Austin plugging something outside of his podcast does feel a little
strange. That being said, Austin is the kind of star who can do whatever
he wants and never get a second thought about it because he’s earned the right over the years. The series doesn’t sound bad either so maybe it can help things out.

At Least He RSVPed. Legend Turns Down Invitation To Raw Reunion.

You can’t get them all. Next week, Monday Night Raw will be presenting a special episode called the Raw Reunion. This show will feature a variety
of wrestlers returning to the company, many of them appearing for the first time in several years. However, not every single person the company wants
on the show is going to appear and one huge name has turned them down.

According to Figure Four Daily, Bret Hart was offered a spot on the show
but turned it down for undisclosed reasons. Hart recently appeared at
AEW’s Double Or Nothing event to unveil their new World Title belt for the first time. Hart has not made any comment on the show but there is no
reason to believe that there is any heat between the two sides. His most recent appearance with the company came at WrestleMania 35 when he was presented as a member of the Hall of Fame Class of 2019 as part of the Hart Foundation.

Opinion: I wouldn’t be worried about something like this as it could be as simple as Hart was already busy with something else. Hart is someone who certainly belongs on any major show celebrating the history of Monday Night
Raw as he was a major force on the show in its early days. If nothing
else, it’s nice to have Hart be someone talked about on a show like this rather than those years where he was never once mentioned.

Tully Blanchard Adds Legendary Influence to Shawn Spears versus Cody Rhodes
in AEW

Shawn Spears delivered the shot heard ‘round the pro wrestling world when
he smashed a steel chair into the head of former best friend Cody Rhodes.
The moment came at AEW’s Fyter Fest on June 29, following Cody’s match with Darby Allin. Spears made his way to the ring and made an immediate impact
on the new company.

But he also made a statement. This was not the lovable Tye Dillinger that
WWE fans were familiar with. This was a man with a new attitude and a new
taste for violence. This new outlook was further cemented by the addition
of WWE Hall of Famer Tully Blanchard, who will serve as Spears’ Exclusive Advisor. It’s definitely an intriguing turn of events as it’s providing what could become AEW’s biggest storyline.

Longterm storytelling has not really been on the table thus far for AEW.
The company likely has plans in place for months ahead and the angle with Rhodes and Spears is just one of them. But as pro wrestling fans have
followed AEW, they’ve done so on a show by show basis and no one’s really been able to predict the future, with a few exceptions.

Those exceptions include The Lucha Bros continued heat with The Young
Bucks, as well as Jon Moxley’s growing rivalry with Kenny Omega. Chris Jericho has heat with everyone of course and AEW’s evolving landscape will certainly become littered with feuds as time goes on. 

But Cody Rhodes versus Shawn Spears is current and it just has a different
feel to it. That’s especially true because of Blanchard, whose history with the Rhodes family goes back nearly 40 years. He and Dusty Rhodes had one of
the all-time great blood feuds of the industry and it’s still being talked about to this day. 

Longtime fans will never forget the wars that Tully and Dusty had through
Jim Crockett Promotions. Those wars were fought all over the world and
every time the two men stepped into the ring, they made brutal magic
together. Each man was the perfect opponent for the other and it showed
both in the ring and on the mic. Tully was the complete opposite of Dusty
in nearly every way and that’s one of the reasons why they had such great chemistry.

When fans looked at Tully, they saw a privileged and petty individual who
only cared about himself. Blanchard was more concerned with flaunting his
money and living life in the fast lane. People were pawns to him and making friends was a means to an end. Tully Blanchard wanted the world and he
believed he deserved to have it.

Dusty Rhodes was The American Dream, a blue collar man of the people. He
cared more about pleasing his fans than he did trying to prove he was the baddest man in the room. NWA fans knew that Dusty was the real deal, just
as they knew that Tully often needed help from The Four Horsemen to win a match. The Dream didn’t always go to war alone, but he was more than
willing to do so.

Fast forward to 2019 and suddenly the bitter rivalry between Tully and
Dusty is being revisited upon The Dream’s youngest son. While the
foundation of Cody versus Shawn may or may not be directly linked to Dusty versus Tully, the connection is obviously there. Fans will see it, AEW will likely explore it and in the long run, it’s a good thing for the company.

But Cody versus Shawn also has an interesting vibe, due to the shared
history between both men. They worked together in WWE, where they learned
the business in developmental. Rhodes has publicly said before that Spears taught him how to work, so it’s clear that Shawn played a huge part in Cody’s evolution in the industry. AEW is using that fact in this storyline, which is fueling Spears’ vendetta against the company founder.

Then there’s the fact that AEW now has a major new heel with Shawn Spears. When the company first formed and journeyed down the inevitable path of
weekly TV, which will begin this October on TNT, it was impossible to know
what the future held. Who would have guessed that the former Tye Dillinger would become one of the most hated top guys in the fledgling company? But
now it’s a reality and it’s one that will surely bode well for AEW. 

The company needs some established stars on top but more importantly, the company needs to build its own top guys as well. Shawn Spears is now one of those guys and it gives AEW more booking options for the future. He will
surely not be the only deserving talent that gets an opportunity at fame
thanks to AEW. But he does have the distinction of being a talent who’s perfect for that shot.

Chis Jericho versus the world is an entertaining angle, just as Jon Moxley fighting for redemption is surely a great draw. But AEW needs layers to its storytelling and it also needs fresh faces on top. Shawn Spears checks both
of those boxes. It will be interesting to see how the blood feud between
him and Cody Rhodes progresses from this point on. Tully Blanchard is the
ideal legend for to this story and he will certainly bring some of that
famous Horsemen magic with him.
