CMLL Honors Jushin Thunder Liger Before His Final Match at Arena Mexico

    Posted: 20 Jul 2019 08:00 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/cmll-honors-jushin-thunder-liger-before-his-final-match-at-arena-mexico/

The legendary Jushin Thunder Liger returned to CMLL one final time on
Friday night, competing in his very last main event at the historic Arena Mexico. The 54-year-old legend will be retiring from professional wrestling
at the end of the year, with one final performance slated for Wrestle
Kingdom 14 before he closes the book on a 35-year Hall of Fame career.

Liger emerged victorious Friday night in Mexico, winning a Fatal 4-Way
match against Caristico, Ultimo Guerrero and Negro Casas in front of a red
hot crowd, pinning the later with his signature running Liger Bomb. Other highlights included an Avalanche Powerbomb from Guerrero and all kinds of
wild dives and combinations from Caristico (the original Mistico/Sin Cara).

Prior to the match, Liger was honored with a traditional dance ceremony and
the presentation of a trophy in the ring from several officials including
new CMLL owner Sofia Alonzo, and the Japanese ambassador to Mexico, among others.

The entire ceremony was a tremendous tribute to one of the greatest of all
time perhaps THE greatest junior heavyweight wrestler of all time. Even Caristico got into the spirit with a custom entrance mask mirroring the
iconic Liger horns, and some familiar looking tights. His three opponents carried Liger around the ring on their shoulders after the match, following
a major pyro display, before leaving the New Japan legend alone in the ring
to say goodbye to his Mexican fans.

his farewell match in Arena Mexico on Friday night.

NJPW G1 Climax Day 7 Results (7/20): Kazuchika Okada vs Will Ospreay

    Posted: 20 Jul 2019 07:30 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/njpw-g1-climax-day-7-results-7-20-kazuchika-okada-vs-will-ospreay/

NJPW G1 Climax Day 7 Results

    Saturday, July 20, 2019

    Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan

    Undercard Matches

Jon Moxley & Shota Umino def. Juice Robinson & Yota Tsuji

Minoru Suzuki, Taichi & Yoshinobu Kanemaru def. Hirooki Goto, Toru Yano & Yuya Uemura

Jay White, Yujiro Takahashi & Chase Owens def. Jeff Cobb, Tomoaki Honma &
    Toa Henare

Tetsuya Naito, Shingo Takagi & BUSHI def. Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI &
    Ren Narita

    A Block Tournament Matches

Zack Sabre Jr. def. Bad Luck Fale

    Hiroshi Tanahashi def. Lance Archer

    KENTA def. EVIL

    Kota Ibushi def. SANADA

    Kazuchika Okada def. Will Ospreay

With a possible 8 points per competitor already accounted for, and another
10 points remaining on the field, the A Block is just now starting to show
    some signs of early separation.

There is a still a long tournament left to travel and nobody has been mathematically eliminated as of yet, something Zack Sabre Jr. of all people should be thankful for as he gets on the board here with his first two
    points.

The stand-out at this point has to be KENTA, who remains undefeated with
big wins over Ibushi and Tanahashi. The champ Okada is also undefeated with wins over Ospreay and Tanahashi, so it may all come down to who wins
    between the two of them.

Ibushi is the real interesting story here, as many expected him to be the
clear favorite going into the G1 Finals for the A Block. Hes certainly not
out yet, but that loss to KENTA may hurt. He also still has to get past Tanahashi and Okada, which at this point seems questionable. Its certainly going to be an interesting second half to watch next week!

    A Block Standings

    Kazuchika Okada – 8
    KENTA – 8
    Lance Archer – 4
    EVIL – 4
    Hiroshi Tanahashi – 4
    Kota Ibushi – 4
    Bad Luck Fale – 2
    Will Ospreay – 2
    SANADA – 2
    Zack Sabre Jr. –2

    B Block Standings

    Tomohiro Ishii – 4
    Juice Robinson – 4
    Shingo Takagi – 4
    Toru Yano – 4
    Taichi – 2
    Hirooki Goto – 2
    Jeff Cobb – 2
    Tetsuya Naito – 2
    Jay White – 0

Impact Wrestling Results (7/19): Unlikely Alliances Formed in Mash-Up Tournament, Triple Threat Knockouts Match

    Posted: 19 Jul 2019 06:30 PM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/impact-wrestling-results-7-19-unlikely-alliances-formed-in-mash-up-tournament-triple-threat-knockouts-match/

    IMPACT WRESTLING RESULTS

    July 19, 2019

Tonight is the first ever Impact Mash-Up Tournament featuring teams of
people who generally cant stand each other. The winners will face each
other for an opportunity at the Impact World Championship.

EDDIE EDWARDS & MOOSE def. CODY DEANER & ROHIT RAJU in a Mash-Up
Tournament first round match // Nobodys surprised here. Raju and Deaner
couldnt get on the same page and Moose speared the hell out of both of
them. Edwards with the Boston Knee Party to win.

JAKE CRIST & ZACHARY WENTZ def. MADMAN FULTON & RICH SWANN in a Mash-Up Tournament first round match // Swann got worked over for a good portion of
the match. Fulton eventually came in and cleaned house. He and Crist had a tense staredown, and Fulton ended up turning on his own partner. Had to
happen at some point. Jake hit Gods Last Gift to win.

MICHAEL ELGIN & WILLIE MACK def. ACE AUSTIN & STONE ROCKWELL in a Mash-Up Tournament first round match // RIP Rockwell. After Mack squashed him early
on, Elgin decimated him with a lariat at the end before hitting his usual Buckle Bomb and Elgin Bomb combo.

SAMI CALLIHAN & TESSA BLANCHARD def. DAVE CRIST & TREY MIGUEL in a Mash-Up Tournament first round match // Really good match. Some comedy early as the
oVe guys mocked the Fingerpoke of Doom spot and Callihan tried to get the
easy win, but Trey broke it up. Lots of superkicks early on. Tessa came off looking like a badass. She hit the Magnum and a Tornado DDT but at some
point injured her knee. Callihan tagged himself in and pinned Trey with the Cactus Driver.

JESSICKA HAVOC def. MADISON RAYNE and TAYA VALKYRIE // Referee John E.
Bravo with lots of interefernce throughout. He saved Taya from being
crushed by Havoc and helped her to the back. Havoc pinned Madison instead
    with the Tombstone Piledriver.

Michal Elgin cuts a promo backstage saying that hes going to win this tournament tonight, then beat Willie Mack to get his title shot. He calls
Brian Cage a coward because their match next week, a Street Fight, doesnt
have the title on the line.

SAMI CALLIHAN & TESSA BLANCHARD def. MICHAEL ELGIN & WILLIE MACK, MOOSE & EDDIE EDWARDS, and JAKE CRIST & ZACHARY WENTZ in a tag team elimination
match to win the Mash-Up Tournament Finals // They did a bunch of dives
early on leading to Moose powerbombing Edwards out of the ring through everybody. Elgin was a beast early on and traded some nasty shots with
Edwards before hitting him with a spinning back fist, followed by the Elgin Bomb to eliminate his team. He had a great staredown with Tessa Blanchard
as well, and took out Callihan with another spinning back fist. Elgin then murdered his own partner with a lariat and walked out. Callihan hit the
Cactus Driver on Mack and eliminated them as well. Things wrap up with lots
of superkicks. Jake took out Tessa with a Death Valley Driver. oVe tried to
do the Fingerpoke of Doom spot again, but this time Jake nearly rolled up Callihan to win. The two started killing each other with kicks and elbow strikes. Blanchard tagged herself back in and hits a top rope Magnum on
Crist to win the match for her team.

Sami Callihan and Tessa Blanchard II is now official winner gets Brian
Cage and the Impact World Championship!
