    [continued from previous message]

Ricochet shows him how it’s done (to the face) and a springboard uppercut puts Shane down again. The fans are behind Ricochet now, despite him being
the heel for twenty minutes plus so far. Shane double stomps him for two of
his own but gets his head clotheslined off for a double knockdown. They
trade some hard forearms to the jaw until Ricochet sends him flying with a release (maybe not intentionally) German suplex. Shane catches him on top
and superkicks him into a spike DDT, followed by the top rope double stomp
    for a very close two.
They take some time to get up and Ricochet is right there with a reverse hurricanrana. The springboard 450 gets two and a reverse inverted DDT
driver (it’s cooler than it sounds) does the same but Ricochet can’t follow up. With Shane on his knees, Ricochet spits in his face. That’s fine with Shane, who knees hi hard in the face to even things out. Something like a keylock goes back to the arm but Ricochet powerbombs his way to freedom.
Shane pulls him right back into it though and Ricochet taps at 33:58.
Rating: A-. This was the best of both worlds: the great wrestling and high flying spots to go with the story of Shane trying to prove that he’s the better man. Ricochet is a top level guy (in NXT pretty soon thereafter) and having Shane go over him completely clean is the right idea. They were one upping each other over and over here until Shane capitalized on the one
thing that held Ricochet back. Great match, and the kind of match that this show needed.
Ricochet nods at Shane as he leaves.
After the copyright, we get a video saying Jimmy Havoc is coming to Never
    Say Never Again.
Overall Rating: B. I had a really good time with this show and that’s the kind of response that this show needed. Nothing was bad (some wasn’t great but there’s a big gap between bad and not very good) and the show moved by quickly. There was a great main event to go with it and you can see the
star power in Strickland. I’m already a fan of the promotion but this would have been enough to make me keep watching. The idea of the mixture of
styles was on full display here, giving you the something for everyone vibe that you don’t get often enough. Well done, and they’ve already kept it going.

(VIDEO): The Big Gold Belt. NXT Title Match Announced For Takeover:
Toronto With A Unique Stipulation Included.

One more time. The NXT Title has gone from being a minor league title to
one of the most important titles in wrestling. It is the ultimate sign of success in NXT, which has become one of the most thrilling promotions in
the world today. Adam Cole won the title for the first time earlier this
year and is defending against former champion Johnny Gargano. The two have fought multiple times now and the next one is going to be a little bit different.

At the end of this week’s NXT TV, Gargano returned and attacked Cole in a brawl. After the show was over, General Manager William Regal announced
that Gargano will challenge Cole for the NXT Title at Takeover: Toronto.
The match will be another 2/3 falls match with Gargano getting to pick a stipulation for a fall, Cole getting to pick a stipulation for another fall
and Regal himself picking a stipulation for a third fall if necessary.

The boss wasn’t happy. Check out Regal’s announcement:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I’m not entirely sure how much I want to see these two fight
again, especially in another 2/3 falls match. The match has kind of been
done to death at this point, though the quality is still likely to be
high. At least the gimmicks should be able to keep things a little
fresher, which is certainly something that the match could use. The build
has been good, and if the execution works, everything will be more than
    fine.

What do you think the gimmicks will be? Who will leave as champion? Let
us know in the comments below.

(WATCH): What Is He Doing Here? AEWs Shawn Spears Gets A Surprising
Wrestling Legend As His New Manager.

    Posted: 17 Jul 2019 10:38 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/watch-aews-shawn-spears-gets-surprising-wrestling-legend-new-manager/

What are you doing here? All Elite Wrestling has changed a lot of things
about professional wrestling and a lot of that is for the better. It has opened the door for a lot of people who might not be able to get to WWE and deserve to be up on a higher level. That’s the kind of thing that can be very valuable to some younger talent, but also to some legends. One legend seems to have gotten a gig of his own.

All Elite Wrestling has posted a new interview with Jim Ross talking to
Shawn Spears. During the interview, Spears mentioned having a manager who
was not mentioned. At the end of the video, Tully Blanchard appeared and
said that the interview was over. While not confirmed, it would seem that Blanchard is now managing Spears. Blanchard appeared at All Out,
accompanying his daughter Tessa to the ring.

This is quite the debut. Check out the interview with Blanchard appearing
    at the end:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I’m certainly surprised, though I’m not sure if Spears needs a manager in the first place. That being said, there certainly is an idea
behind continuing the Blanchard vs. Rhodes family feud with Cody vs. Spears coming up. It might be a little too much at once but there is certainly an idea there. On top of that, Blanchard isn’t someone who has been exposed
to death over the years so he still feels fresh for everyone involved.

Do you like Blanchard as the manager? Does Spears need a manager? Let us
    know in the comments below.

Now Thats A Special Guest. The Rock At WWE Performance Center.

    Posted: 17 Jul 2019 07:54 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/now-thats-special-guest-rock-wwe-performance-center/

Now that’s a special guest. There are stars in wrestling and then there
are stars in the world, but one name fits both categories. No matter how
you look at it, there is likely never going to be a bigger star to come out
of wrestling than the Rock. He was a top star in wrestling and then became
one of the biggest movie stars in the world. That doesn’t mean he never
goes back to his roots though.

In a new post on his Twitter account promoting his Sami For Syria
charitable campaign, Sami Zayn mentioned seeing the Rock today at the WWE Performance Center. There is no word on why the Rock was at the
Performance Center and he does not appear in the video. It is likely that
he was just visiting because he was in the area. The Rock is not currently scheduled to make any WWE appearances in the near future.

Bumped into @TheRock today at the @WWEPC whilst getting care for my
#Rickety shoulders & got to thank him personally for the RT & support of
the #SamiForSyria campaign to start a mobile clinic in Syria.

    Be cool like The Rock

And what better video than this? Check out the charity announcement:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Well maybe this too. Check out some of the Rock’s best insults:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: While I can’t imagine Rock showing up at the upcoming Raw Reunion, seeing him on the first SmackDown Live on FOX certainly would not surprise
me. He’s the kind of A-List talent that would be a huge deal for the show and someone who would more than make sense. It’s always cool to see him still doing things with wrestling after such a long time away, though you can’t expect him to be there all the time.

Do you think Rock will be on WWE TV soon? What do you want him to do? Let
us know in the comments below.

Its Something. Monday Night Raw And SmackDown Live Get Some Very Welcome
    News.

    Posted: 17 Jul 2019 07:49 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/something-monday-night-raw-smackdown-live-get-welcome-news/

It’s not like it could get much worse. The last few weeks have not been
kind to WWE as the fans are just not seeming to be interested in what WWE
is offering. There are a variety of things to blame for that but it was
clear that something needed to be changed. Some of those changes took
place at Extreme Rules, but did this help fix the television audience
    issues?

According to 411mania.com, both this week’s Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live ratings and viewership saw large increases over the previous week’s shows. This week’s Monday Night Raw’s .80 rating (best since May 21) and 2.453 million viewers (best since July 1), up 11% and 4% over last
week’s .72 rating and 2.352 million viewers. This week’s SmackDown Live drew a .65 rating (best since May 29) and 2.122 million viewers (best since April 16), up 23% and 15% over last week’s .53 rating and 1.853 million viewers.

There were big deals going on with both shows. Check out a highlight of
    each:

[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I’m not sure what changed everything at once, but this does seem
to be quite the improvement and a good sign. Now, none of that matters if
the numbers go right back down, but it’s certainly better than those
numbers going down a few more pegs. The results have to get better over
time and a single step in the right direction is certainly better than
    nothing.

Which show did you like better this week? Can they keep the numbers up?

They Got There First. Raw Reunion Plans May Have Changed Idea For First SmackDown Live On FOX.

    Posted: 17 Jul 2019 07:45 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/got-first-raw-reunion-plans-may-changed-idea-first-smackdown-live-fox/

Beaten to the draw. It is no secret that WWE has been in trouble when it
comes to their television audiences. Fans just are not watching as much as they used to and WWE is trying to figure out a few ways to get fans to
stick around. One of these plans is to have some older stars come back for some nostalgia, and while that is going to be happening on Raw Reunion, it isn’t the most original idea.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the original plans
for the first episode of SmackDown Live on October 4 were to hold a
SmackDown reunion with various stars from the past appearing. However, now that the idea of the Raw Reunion has been approved, the SmackDown version
is not likely to take place. The Raw Reunion was USA’s idea and not something WWE decided on.

In case you needed some SmackDown Live history. Check out the really cool intro to SmackDown 1000:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised at this one as it’s an idea that is proven to work. At the same time though, do you really want to start the
new SmackDown Live era with a bunch of people you won’t be seeing again?
You won’t be able to find that kind of star power again so starting at the top of the pile might not be the best idea in the world. Raw Reunion can
be a great idea though and that’s what matters most at the moment.

Who do you want to see at Raw Reunion? What do you expect to see at the
first SmackDown Live on FOX? Let us know in the comments below.

Keep them in the house. There are a lot of places for wrestlers to go at
the moment and it leaves a lot of doors open. The WWE is still by far the biggest and most successful promotion in the world, but that doesn’t mean some stars aren’t interested in seeing what else is out there. One star doesn’t seem interested though and now there is a paper to prove it.

As announced on his Instagram page, Braun Strowman has signed a new four
year contract with WWE. While the terms are not mentioned, Strowman did include a hashtag talking about a million dollars, which would likely be
the total value of the contract at minimum. Strowman has been with WWE
since August 2014 and has had numerous World Title shots over the years but
    has never won the title.

Strowman can do a lot, including break things. Check out him wrecking a

Opinion: Good for him. Strowman has proven himself to be a rather valuable asset as anyone can understand the idea of a strong man. He’s big, he’s muscular, and he can lift heavy objects. I can understand why he’s going
to be around for a long time and hopefully WWE decides to do something more interesting with him. Like let him win the World Title or something.

What is your take on Strowman? Will he ever be World Champion? Let us

Hes Earned It. Kevin Owens Is Getting Some Special Treatment In WWE.

    Posted: 17 Jul 2019 07:17 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/hes-earned-kevin-owens-getting-special-treatment-wwe/

That’s an elite group to join. One of the many criticisms in WWE as of
late has been the promo work. There are only so many ways to say the same things over and over again and it is pretty clear that the writing staff
has run out of ways to say them. This was one of the major criticisms from
Jon Moxley after he left the company but now, we might be seeing a bit of a change.

According to Sports Illustrated, Kevin Owens is currently being allowed to
cut his promos without having them scripted out for him beforehand. While Owens is working with bullet points to cover, he is coming up with the
majority of his promos on his own, including the ones where he has targeted Shane McMahon. This is rare in WWE, where almost no one is allowed to
    speak without a script.

This feels more authentic. Check out one of Owens’ entertaining rants:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I have no idea what took them this long on something like this.
Owens has shown that he knows how to talk on the microphone and it isn’t
hard to tell him the gist of what he is supposed to say. If he has shown
the abilities to do something like this, let him see what he can do and see
if things get any better. Owens knows what he would say better than the writers, so let him run with it and maybe it can be an improvement.

Have you liked Owens’ promos? Who else should have their own chance? Let

Will WWE Finally Elevate Bray Wyatt to the Main Event Level?

    Posted: 17 Jul 2019 06:44 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tomclark/will-wwe-finally-elevate-bray-wyatt-main-event-level/

Bray Wyatt finally made his return to WWE programming on the July 15
edition of Monday Night Raw. The Eater of Worlds came back with a new look,
but he targeted a familiar opponent when he attacked Finn Bálor in the
    middle of the ring.

Many fans are undoubtedly happy with Bray’s reemergence. The Firefly Fun House has delivered an entirely different side of Wyatt’s character and
those spots have indeed been entertaining. But Bray’s revival on Raw never seemed to be forthcoming. Now that Wyatt is back, his supporters are surely wondering what happens next. More importantly, they’re wondering whether or not WWE will actually use Bray to his full potential this time.

Bray Wyatt has always been just on the cusp of greatness Of course, that perception varies depending on the point of view. Bray Wyatt the man may believe that his WWE career has gone perfectly fine to this point. Perhaps he’s enjoyed his time in Vince McMahon’s company and it could very well be that he cannot imagine himself working anywhere else.

    Watch Brays return on Raw!

Maybe world championship runs and WrestleMania main events have just not
been on Bray’s shortlist. It’s not that he doesn’t have ambition; most WWE
Superstars certainly do and he’s likely no different. But maybe Wyatt is content to just take things one day at a time and that means he’s willing
to wait. Bray could be biding his time until he sees where things will go
    in WWE.

But for the WWE faithful, Bray Wyatt’s career has never moved fast enough.
He has such charisma and such a presence, that it’s nearly impossible to believe he cannot reach the top of the industry. He definitely seems ready
made to succeed on the worldwide stage and he obviously has. But he’s never been on that elite level.

However, this is where the line between perception and reality gets a bit blurry. Many fans feel that Bray Wyatt should be a top player in WWE and
until that happens, the company is dropping the ball with him. But what is
the truth? As the masses begin debating Bray’s potential future in WWE, perhaps the time has come to look at why he seems to be held back from top
    tier success in the company.

Check out Brays creepiest WWE moments!

Wyatt has everything it takes to become one of the most profitable, most entertaining acts in WWE. He’s such a great heel and when he’s on his game, no one is more compelling on the mic. His wicked tongue is matched only by
his sinister agenda and that agenda is wholly evil. He’s a walking
nightmare and every time he opens his mouth, he is impossible to ignore.
While some struggle to perfect rehearsed lines, Bray Wyatt flows like the
    river styx.

Of course amazing mic skills and grasp of character do not necessarily
equal legendary status in WWE. Unless the machine gets behind a talent,
that talent will never excel. It’s not about building on what garnered a
spot in WWE, as much as it is building on the momentum WWE provides. If
that momentum does not happen, then a Superstar can’t move forward. Has
this been the case for Bray Wyatt?

Wyatt seems to have been in a holding pattern from the day he began his destructive journey in WWE. He’s been contained to his gimmick and while there’s nothing necessarily wrong with that, he’s unfortunately also been held in one place because of it. It’s as if he had a role to play and he
did so like no one else could, but he was never rewarded for his efforts.

But many would say that Bray has indeed been given more than his fair share
of accolades in WWE. He has held the WWE Championship after all and that
would never have happened if the company didn’t have a respectable level of faith in him. But could it be that Wyatt’s time as WWE champion was nothing more than a temporary stint on the way to Randy Orton winning the title at WrestleMania 33?

Relive Bray Wyatts first promo on WWE Raw!

Of course Bray’s time in Matt Hardy’s Woken universe was certainly memorable. Wyatt was given many opportunities to explore his character, as
well as his life as a top babyface Superstar. Once again, Bray rose to the occasion and he more than delivered. But just as his WWE Championship run
ended with little to no return, so too did his time with Matt Hardy.

Where was the followup? Why did WWE not strike with Bray when the time was right? He had a major spotlight at the time and it would have been so easy
for him to transition to something more. He was certainly capable of doing more, just as he’s capable now. So is now the right time for Bray Wyatt?

Much like every Superstar in WWE, success will only come if real planning
is in place. If the company has not prepared a path for Bray, then Wyatt
will not be able to move forward. Wyatt must be the one to walk through the door to the next level, but WWE must first open that door.

Fans are excited for this new incarnation of Wyatt and that’s a good thing. Bray has an extremely unique character and that character has always been
open to reinvention. Wyatt is so good at what he does and he can do it with
any tweaking that’s needed. Bray can be a master of his own destiny. Or he could become a victim of WWE’s dismal booking. Fans are surely hoping for
    the former.

NXT Live Coverage And Results - July 17, 2019

    NXT

    Date: July 17, 2019

Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida

Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Mauro Ranallo, Beth Phoenix

It’s weird to say this but NXT is in a little bit of a funk. I don’t know if it’s the Breakout Tournament or Johnny Gargano vs. Adam Cole III not
being the most inspiring story in the world, but the last few shows haven’t been the most thrilling the world. They’re not bad by any stretch, but when your standards are this high, anything but great is jarring. Let’s get to
    it.

    Opening sequence.
    Matt Riddle vs. Arturo Ruas

Ruas is formerly known as Adrian Jaoude, with Mauro mentioning that he has
a new identity. They go into an MMA striking battle to start with Nigel
listing off their stats. Riddle takes him to the mat and they trade
waistlocks into a standoff. Ruas gets in a powerslam but can’t get a full cross armbreaker. Instead Riddle tries his own but Ruas rolls out into
another standoff. Back up and Riddle scores with a kick to the ribs so Ruas double legs him down. Another battle of kicks goes to Riddle and it’s the Final Flash knee strike. Riddle pounces on him until the referee stops it
    at 3:41.

Result: Matt Riddle b. Arturo Ruas via referee stoppage (3:41)

Post match Killian Dain runs in and wrecks Riddle, including sending him shoulder first into the post and slamming his head onto the floor. A
backsplash to Riddle’s back makes it even worse and Dain takes Riddle to
the stage…..for another running backsplash THROUGH the stage.

The Street Profits don’t take kindly to the Undisputed Era thinking they deserve the titles more than the Profits. If the Profits aren’t serious,
why can’t the Era just beat them? Come see how serious they are because they’re going to keep the titles. Dawkins: “And that is undisputed.”

We look at Mia Yim attacking Marina Shafir in the parking lot last Saturday. Breakout Tournament First Round: Dexter Lumis vs. Bronson Reed

Lumis is Samuel Shaw and Reed is Jonah Rock. Reed says he’s from Australia and a usual night out for him is a fight fight at a pub. Why does no one
talk about Australian strong style? Lumis frames his hands to look at Rock,
who reaches his hand out at Lumis for a scene straight out of a character loading screen. The much bigger Reed runs him over but an elbow lets Lumis
    put him on the floor.

Lumis’ running flip dive misses but he lands on his feet, leaving Reed to
run him over. Back in and Lumis sends him throat first into the bottom rope
and hammers away. The neck crank goes on for a bit until Reed is back up
with forearms to the face. The announcers talk about Lumis enjoying pain as Reed gets two off a backsplash.  Lumis is right back up with a belly to
back suplex and spinning legdrop, only to miss the Swanton. Reed slams him
down and a top rope splash finishes Lumis at 5:52.

Result: Bronson Reed b. Dexter Lumis Top rope splash (5:52)

Tyler Breeze thinks he might need some backup against the Undisputed Era.
Cue the Forgotten Sons to say he’s not a real man. Breeze: “Oh I’m a real man. Check out his beard.” Breeze thinks Jaxson Ryker is Buddy Murphy and doesn’t seem worried.

We look at the debut of evil Io Shirai last week, when she said she didn’t need any friends.

Next week: Kacy Catanzaro vs. Io Shirai.
    Kushida vs. Apollo Crews

Welcome home for Crews and he gets quite the reaction. They shake hands to
