LAX Reportedly Courting "Significant Offers" from Both WWE & AEW

    Posted: 12 Jul 2019 09:00 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/lax-reportedly-courting-significant-offers-from-both-wwe-aew/

As previously reported, former world tag team champions Santana and Ortiz, collectively known as LAX, is expected to be on their way out of Impact Wrestling shortly. Their contracts with the promotion expire in
early-to-mid August, and they recently dropped the titles to The North
    ahead of Slammiversary.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that the duo has actually received significant offers from both AEW and WWE. Apparently there are
people within both companies that believe LAX is incoming, but as of right
now they have yet to make a final decision.

For obvious reasons, this is the best possible time to be a highly sought
after name in the world of professional wrestling. WWE is looking to lock
down anyone with a name that they can use, or perhaps more importantly keep away from AEW.

While AEW isnt exactly looking to fill out their roster right now, they
have made a serious push to feature tag team wrestling as a main event
caliber attraction, and are putting their money where their mouth is with a world class tournament that will be a huge part of weekly television when
    it launches later this year.

Latest on Alexa Bliss Status for WWE Extreme Rules After Missing This Weeks
    TV

    Posted: 12 Jul 2019 07:30 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/latest-on-alexa-bliss-status-for-wwe-extreme-rules-after-missing-this-weeks-tv/

Conspicuous by her absence this week on both WWE Raw and Smackdown Live was former champion and this years WrestleMania guest host, Alexa Bliss. The so-called Goddess was replaced in segments by her storyline bestie Nikki
Cross, who acted as a surrogate for a segment of A Moment of Bliss, and
even filled in for a match as well.

Bliss has actually been out of action for the last week with a serious
sinus infection, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. As of now, she will be ready to go this weekend at Extreme Rules.

She was originally scheduled to work angles on both go-home shows, but as
we saw on television plans were changed and Cross was added to the
Smackdown Womens Championship at Extreme Rules. Bliss and Cross will now
team up to face Bayley in a 2-on-1- handicap situation, although its not exactly clear what will happen if the two actually win the titletogether.

Daniel Cormier Teases Joining WWE To Fight Brock Lesnar

    Posted: 12 Jul 2019 06:36 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/daniel-cormier-teases-joining-wwe-to-fight-brock-lesnar/

During the recent ESPN ESPYS, UFC star, Daniel Cormier bumped into Triple H where he ended up teasing the possibility of a WWE run.

Cormier had been expected to fight Brock Lesnar in the UFC until the Beast announced his retirement from MMA, leaving many fans disappointed that they never saw the fight.

During Cormiers interview with WWEs Cathy Kelley,  he joked with Triple H about potentially joining WWE in order to make the match happen.

I was hoping to fight Brock Lesnar, but he didnt, Cormier told Cathy. These guys [WWE] took him from me. Maybe Ill follow him over there.

Its not too late, Triple H responded.

Yeah, we can do it in WWE, Cormier said.

Backstage News on Why the Street Profits Have Yet to Wrestle on WWE Raw

    Posted: 12 Jul 2019 06:00 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/backstage-news-on-why-the-street-profits-have-yet-to-wrestle-on-wwe-raw/

The Street Profits have been involved in several backstage segments over
the past two weeks on Monday Night Raw, but as you may have noticed they
    have yet to actually wrestle.

As previously reported, the decision to bring up the tag team from the NXT brand was a Paul Heyman idea as he is high on the duo, and was able to make
the move happen after being announced as the real-life Executive Director
    of the flagship show.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the actual reason that the Street Profits have only appeared in backstage promos is a logistical
dilemma stemming from having NXT champions on the main roster.

Naturally, Triple H wouldnt want his champions losing a lot of matches
while they still have the titles, as it weakens them, but theres also a
certain stigma about WWE main roster guys losing to NXT guys.

Some would say the best wrestlers should win the best matches regardless of where they are from, and that mentality of having to start from the bottom
and NXT being lesser than makes no sense and just hurts the business
overall especially in a fake world where you could script reasons for wins and losses but thats just not WWEs philosophy.

The immediate future is unknown. If they really cant put them in matches
until they drop the titles, the next possible date is NXT Takeover: Toronto
the weekend of SummerSlam. Theres also a TV taping that next week. The
Street Profits had just won the titles at NXT Takeover XXV after the War Raiders had to vacate them for the same exact reason.

Sean Waltman Reveals Who He Believes Is New Japans Top Star

    Posted: 12 Jul 2019 05:51 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/sean-waltman-reveals-who-he-believes-is-new-japans-top-star/

During the latest episode of the X-Pac 12360 Podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer,
Sean Waltman gave some major praise to a top New Japan Pro Wrestling star.

Waltman believes that Will Ospreay is the biggest star in New Japan right
now, giving him some major praise:

As someone thats specialty was that style of match, a David and Goliath
match, I just thought it was done really well. Ospreay, I think hes the
best guy they have especially for the global expansion here in the States.
You know, a blond-haired fking kid with blue eyes. Good looking fker, too.
His gears are all on point I was hoping he would win. Lance did great
though, I was really happy for Lance. I hope they use Lance more moving forward. I hope they use him better.

He also continued by discussing the crowd size for the Dallas show:

Its weird, people have a short memory of how fking tough it was to put
asses in seats not too long ago, to where theyre going, Oh, they cant even
sell out the fking American Airlines arena? I mean, it was over half full
AXS TV produced that, right? Theyre not in the wrestling industry where
theyre used to having to, for cosmetic reasons, move people. They shot it
like everyone else would shoot it. So yeah, it probably would look better aesthetically if there were more people, but I thought the crowd looked
just fine. I thought it was very respectable.

Another International Star Rumored to be Debuting at AEW Fight for the
    Fallen

    Posted: 12 Jul 2019 05:30 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/another-international-star-rumored-to-be-debuting-at-aew-fight-for-the-fallen/

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, 27-year-old joshi stand-out Shoko Nakajima will miss this weekends Tokyo Joshi Pro event in Nagoya, as
she is expected to make her AEW debut at Fight for the Fallen this Saturday night.

Nakajima is the current top singles championship for Tokyo Joshi Pro, which
is the Japanese womens promotion owned by DDT Pro. She also has experience working with and against Riho and Yuka Sakazaki, who have also appeared in
    AEW.

Kenny Omega and Brandi Rhodes have been working in collaboration for AEW in scouting for the womens division, and given Omegas history with DDT and his knowledge and love of the joshi scene, this should be yet another good get
for the fledging promotion as the expand their already impressive
    international roster.

While a match for Nakajima has yet to be officially announced, its worth
noting that both Dr. Britt Baker and Bea Priestley have been confirmed to wrestle at Fight for the Fallen on Saturday, and are also currently without
    an announced match.

Tessa Blanchard Reveals When She Found Out About Headlining Slammiversary

    Posted: 12 Jul 2019 05:13 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/tessa-blanchard-admits-she-wasnt-aware-about-main-eventing-slammiversary-xvii-until-the-day-of/

IMPACT Wrestlings Tessa Blanchard recently spoke with Busted Open Radio
about Slammiversary XVII and main eventing the PPV. Below are some
highlights with a H/T to Fightful.com for the transcriptions.

Blanchard admitted that she wasnt aware she was closing the PPV until the
    day of the show:

“Oh, I loved Slammiversary. It was just… it was a really neat thing. I didn’t expect to be in the main event. I didn’t know that they were gonna change everything and put us in the main event. So that was really, really
cool for me. A girl has never done that in IMPACT yet so, that was really
neat. Its been a important thing for me this year I really wanna make
history in my own way so it’s like a little baby step towards doing that I feel like.” She said.

Bully Ray also asked if she was scared about wrestling Sami Callihan:

“You know, someone asked me that before but, I don’t think I was really because, I’m used to being in there with the guys and I know that Sami’s aggressive and now I know better than anyone that Sami is so aggressive.
He’s one of the most aggressive people I’ve ever been in the ring with but, I feel like I’m confident enough in myself to get in there and hold my own because I can be just as aggressive, in my own way.” She explained.

Update on WWE Champion Kofi Kingston Following Recent Back Injury

    Posted: 12 Jul 2019 05:00 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/update-on-wwe-champion-kofi-kingston-following-recent-back-injury/

In an update to reports from earlier this week on the rumored injury of
Kofi Kingston, it appears that the WWE Champion is indeed dealing with something, but it isnt serious enough to put Sundays Extreme Rules title
    match in jeopardy.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kingston suffered a minor
back injury during a match with Dolph Ziggler at the July 6th WWE Live
    event in Binghamton, New York.

He was taken off the next two live events and notably did not wrestle on
Raw or Smackdown Live, given a few days to rest up, and should be ready to defend the WWE Championship against Samoa Joe on Sunday.

Kip Sabian Reveals What Drew Him To Join AEW

    Posted: 12 Jul 2019 04:51 AM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/kip-sabian-reveals-what-drew-him-to-join-aew/

AEWs Kip Sabian recently spoke with Fightful.com about working for the
company, what initially drew him in and why he enjoyed being on the Buy-In.

On AEW having wins and losses mattering being a big draw for him:

As soon as they said wins and losses would matter, I was like sweet. Im
tired of it not mattering. Whats the point? Whats the point of having a wrestling match and one person loses, and the next week they come out and
it doesnt mean anything? The point is winning the match. For me, winning at Double or Nothing, first ever AEW singles match and singles match winner
    THIS GUY, said Sabian.

On the importance of the Buy In show for UK audiences:

A lot of people have messaged me saying they saw the Buy In (pre-show) on
ITV4, and they went over to the ITV Box Office and bought Double or
Nothing. That was my role on the car, that was my job, Sammys job, the
battle royals job, and everyone delivered. Ive not had one negative tweet, Instagram, social media, (its) the best, man, Sabian told us. I knew we
were on the Buy In. It wasnt really discussed with me what order. As soon
as they said we were closing that before we go thats extra pressure. When youre under pressure, thats when you thrived, and I think we all delivered.
