RUMOR: The Big Ending? WWE Could Be Removing Shane McMahon From Television Soon.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 01:08 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/rumor-big-ending-wwe-removing-shane-mcmahon-television-soon/

At long last? There are a lot of problems in WWE at the moment and fans
are more than willing to take the time to tell you all about them. That
has been the case for years, but it might not have been this bad in a very
long time. One of the problems has been the lack of top villains, with the major names not being the strongest. However, there might be some relief
    in sight.

According to Wrestlingnews.co, the storyline that started this week on SmackDown Live between Kevin Owens and Shane McMahon is designed to get
McMahon off of weekly television. WWE is said to know that there is too
much McMahon around television at the moment and things need to change. Owens’ new story will see him speaking for the fans, with various wrestlers cheering for him Stunning McMahon.

It didn’t go well for McMahon. Check out what started his problems on SmackDown Live:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is probably quite the relief for wrestling fans and I can’t
say I disagree. McMahon has dominated WWE TV for the last several months
and has defeated multiple World Champions without being pinned since
November. There comes a point where that needs to change and it’s not like things have been going well for WWE since McMahon’s mega push started. Hopefully this changes, because it hasn’t been going well so far.

Do you want to see less McMahon? How should he be taken out? Let us know
    in the comments below.

DOH! WWE Makes A Pretty Big Mistake Regarding This Weeks SmackDown Live.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 01:05 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/doh-wwe-makes-pretty-big-mistake-regarding-weeks-smackdown-live/

The whole thing? There is a lot of television content in WWE. Like, a lot
of it, and it happens every single week, almost no matter what. That can
be hard to keep up with as a fan but there are various ways to find it no matter where you are. As it turns out, WWE gave its fans another way to
watch, though it doesn’t seem to have been the most intentional.

On Wednesday, WWE uploaded the entire episode of SmackDown Live from
Tuesday night to its YouTube channel. The video was available through part
of the afternoon in the United States, though it was later changed and
listed as unavailable in the United States. It is not clear who can still watch the show internationally or why the show was put up on YouTube in the first place. WWE does not upload recent episodes to its YouTube page as a rule.

Here’s the link to the show, which has been blocked but not taken down:

There was a lot to be seen on the show. Check out this week’s main event: [This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I’m not sure why WWE decided to put this up, but there is always
the chance that it was not meant to be made public. There is all kind of content in WE and having it available online the next day would be very
nice if you don’t have time to sit and watch the show as it airs live.
Then again, I can understand why the USA Network wouldn’t be entirely
    pleased with such a move.

Did you like this week’s SmackDown Live? What do they need to change? Let us know in the comments below.

Its Not Over. Update On Pac Wrestling For AEW One Day.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 01:01 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/not-update-pac-wrestling-aew-one-day/

So there’s still a chance. Earlier this year, AEW had to use the Card Subject To Change defense to deal with Pac deciding that he would not be
able to work Double Or Nothing due to creative differences. While fans
were disappointed, it was a situation that seemed to be handled amicably.
The door seemed to be open for the future, and now we have a bit of an
    update.

In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, the Young Bucks said that there
was still a chance to have Pac make an appearance in AEW down the line.
The two said that they have known Pac for years and that bringing him in
would be a priority for AEW. At the moment, there is no word on when Pac
could be brought in, though it would seem to not be a possibility until
after he loses his Dragon Gate Open The Dream Gate Title.

Pac has some experience on the big stage. Check him out in a major tag
    match in WWE:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I certainly hope that this is the case as Pac is someone who could
be a big deal in AEW, though I’m not sure how much longer he can wait
before heading over there before he starts to lose his spark. He was a
huge deal coming out of WWE under some not so great circumstances, though having to wait such a long time to see him in an AEW ring is not going to
    help him.

Do you think Pac will wrestle in AEW? Who do you want to see him face?

A New Start. Former WWE Star Gets A New Job In A Rather Different Field.

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 12:57 AM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/new-start-former-wwe-star-gets-new-job-rather-different-field/

It’s quite the new job. One of the more less talked about parts of
wrestling is how the talent can get out of the business. There are all
kinds of wrestlers and so many of the aren’t going to be able to find a new career outside of the business. Some are more than ready to move into a
new line of work though and a name that you might not have thought of in a
long time has done just that.

According to Oswego (New York) County Today, Marc Copani, formerly known as Muhammad Hassan in WWE, has been named the new principal of Fulton Junior
High School, effective July 1. Copani had served as an assistant principal
at a high school in the same area before moving into his new job. Hassan’s WWE career ended in 2005, though he wrestled three matches for an
independent promotion in New York in 2018.

You might not remember him. Check out one of the biggest matches of
    Hassan’s career:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: Good for him. This is the kind of thing that a lot of wrestlers aren’t able to do and it’s nice to see that Copani has figured out a career for himself after getting out of wrestling. I never liked how he was sent
out of WWE but thankfully he has landed on his feet and found a career that
he can work in for years. Hopefully it goes better than his wrestling
career, which could have been a lot more interesting under some different circumstances.

What did you think of Hassan? How big could he have been? Let us know in
    the comments below.

    KBs Review: Say What?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 11:49 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/kbs-review-say/

Contrary to what you might think by listening to them talk about it,
wrestling fans like wrestling. Often times, they like it quite a bit, to
the point where it seems that they might not remember that it’s staged. That’s part of the fun of wrestling though: we know it’s all rigged, but we get caught up in it and care about these people and what they’re doing
every single week. Yeah we know that it’s not real, but that’s the point of the whole thing. So why do we need to constantly be reminded that it’s fake?

One of the major stories in WWE at the moment is the relationship between
Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. The two have been dating for a few months now
and that relationship has made its way up to WWE television. While I’ll ignore the risks of such a story, there is one thing about the story that
makes me cringe every time commentary brings it up: they keep calling it
    the “real life” relationship.

What is that even supposed to mean? It’s WWE making sure that we understand that everything else we’re watching is fake but this relationship is real. Now, that leads to the suggestions that everything that happens to these
two is fake also, but why let that get in the way of a statement that WWE really likes to say over and over? That line and the line of thinking that comes with it got me to thinking about a pair of annoying statements in wrestling and how bad they are for the wrestling fans as a whole.

    Note the real couples:

[This post contains video, click to play]
First up, and how appropriate with Rollins and Lynch, is “titles are just props.” You hear this one a lot with Bruce Prichard saying it over and over on his podcast. It’s true that the wrestlers didn’t earn their titles in legitimate matches, but what is this nonsense that they didn’t earn them whatsoever? Of course they did and it doesn’t take much thinking to see how they did.

Flash back with me to March 29, 1998 in Boston, Massachusetts. If the date doesn’t ring a bell, this might: “THE AUSTIN ERA HAS BEGUN!” Steve Austin wins the WWF Title for the first time, launching the company to heights it
has never seen before and will never see again, finally claiming his
destiny as the top man in the business.

Now, why is it Austin getting this spot? Well based on the “titles are just props”, it was because the company decided that it was his turn to hold the belt. If it was that simple, why not go with someone else to make them a
star the next night on Monday Night Raw? How about Aguila, the man who lost
in the Light Heavyweight Title match earlier in the night at WrestleMania
14? He didn’t get one prop so maybe he can just have another and become a featured player.

Yeah this is just a prop being handed over:

[This post contains video, click to play]
Of course that’s never going to happen, because Aguila is nowhere near that level. But why not? If the title is just a prop and can be handed to
anyone, why not Aguila? In short, because no one would believe it and it
would be a ratings disaster that would have cut off the company’s momentum
at a point where they could finally cut off Monday Nitro’s ratings winning streak.

Instead, the WWF went with the smart move of putting the title on Austin,
the hottest star in the world. Why was he the hottest star in the world you ask? Well given the “smart” way of thinking, it was because he won the Intercontinental Title (one of those prop things) a few times but then
handed it off to the Rock because he wanted the bigger one (during which
you can hear WCW starting to pack their bags because their days were
    numbered and they knew it).

I’d lean more towards it’s Austin being one of the most charismatic and hard working wrestlers of all time, armed with a can’t miss catchphrase
that captured the imaginations of the fans and hit at the exact right time
in a perfect situation while having worked his way to the top for the
better part of the last year and a half as the fans were chomping at the
bit to see their hero take his place atop the company.

But nah. It was just because they gave him a prop that he hadn’t earned.

That brings us to the second line, which might be even worse, with the
classic of “wins and losses don’t matter.” Where do you even start with this one? The classic example would of course be Goldberg, or you could do
a more modern example with Shane McMahon (last singles loss as of July
2019: Hell in the Celll against Kevin Owens, who needed Sami Zayn’s help to win).

I think instead we’ll go with one of the best and most simplistic stories
of the modern era with the Summer of Punk. CM Punk threatened to leave the company as WWE Champion so John Cena offered to fight for the WWE’s behalf. Vince McMahon: “What if you can’t beat him?” And thus, tickets were sold because it planted a seed of doubt. That’s wrestling booking 101 but we’ll get into that later.

    Now imagine if he lost:

[This post contains video, click to play]
All of a sudden, it became a question of what would happen if Punk pulled
it off. That was impossible though right? Punk couldn’t win the title when
he was leaving the company. I mean….they just couldn’t do that! Cena couldn’t lose in this match after what Punk said in that big speech he
    gave, could he?

Enter the “wins and losses don’t matter” mindset, which would have said: “Well it really makes no difference as Punk will be back with the title. Or they’ll just make a new title and act like none of this mattered. Don’t worry. It’ll be fine because it’s all just made up anyway.” And there goes
    the interest in the story.

Now if you remember what happened with Punk, he went on to win the title,
then disappeared for less than a month, then came back and….lost to Triple
H with the help of Kevin Nash, who texted himself because he wanted the spotlight one more time after getting cheered in the Royal Rumble earlier
in the year. Uh yeah I think the less said about that the better.

It’s true that Punk went on to have a year long title reign, but how much
did that loss to Triple H hurt him? Punk went from the hottest thing in
years to just another top star as Triple H took away so much of his steam.
The company knew where they were taking him, but the fans saw Triple H
beating someone else, again, in a match he didn’t need to win to set up his own match with Nash.

If that’s too specific for you, consider someone like Bray Wyatt. Sure, he’s been getting rave reviews for the Firefly Fun House segments, but what has been the underlying worry about him? “What happens once he gets back in the ring? He never wins the big matches and it’s all going to be wasted.” That is indeed the case. Fans have gotten so used to Wyatt losing that they have no faith in him and it sticks in the back of their minds. Would you
get your hopes up for someone who has never managed to keep up the
momentum? It’s rather hard to do, but it’s ok because “it doesn’t matter”.

At its core, wrestling is not a complicated business. The good people fight
the bad people and the fans want to see the good ones win, which they
usually do in the end. Eventually though, you reach the point where you
start overthinking everything about it and that gets you in trouble. It
seems to be where WWE is right now, with a bunch of titles that aren’t seen as important and wrestlers who are interchangeable because they trade wins
and losses. I assure you the lack of interest in WWE and its downward
spiral of TV ratings aren’t a problem, because as someone who is also
missing the point once said, they don’t matter.

Finally, allow me a question of my own: if wins and losses don’t matter in wrestling, as in what this whole thing is about, why should I bother
    watching?

More Content. Stephanie McMahon To Be Featured In Weekly Television Series.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 11:10 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/content-stephanie-mcmahon-featured-weekly-television-series/

Of course we can have more content. There is a lot of WWE programming and
some of it doesn’t event have to do with wrestling. If there is one thing WWE seems obsessed with doing, it is producing content that is only related
to wrestling. You’ve seen it with all kinds of reality shows, competitions and more. Now, they’re trying it again with some major star power included.

According to Deadline.com, WWE Studios and Critical Content will be
producing a new unscripted series called Fight Like A Girl. The show will feature Stephanie McMahon in every episode, along with another WWE
Superstar. Each episode will feature a young woman who is dealing with a personal problem and will train at the Performance Center in an attempt to transform themselves. The show will be airing on the Quibi video platform
    at an undetermined date.

McMahon has done a lot of things in WWE. Check out one of them:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: I’m not sure what to expect from this show but it doesn’t sound like something that is going to have the longest shelf life in the world. McMahon is someone who seems like a rather sweet and even inspiring person
when you take her out of the wrestling ring. Hopefully the show does well
and helps some people, but I’m not sure how well it’s going to do overall.

Up And Down. Another WWE Superstar Is Heading Back To NXT.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 11:06 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/down-another-wwe-superstar-heading-back-nxt/

The next to go down? WWE is a rapidly changing place with its roster undergoing all kinds of changes almost weekly. There are people coming
onto the roster and leaving it almost as fast, which is made even more interesting when you factor in NXT. One of the most fascinating parts of watching WWE is seeing when someone comes up to the main roster. But what about the opposite?

This week on NXT, General Manager William Regal announced that former NXT
star Apollo Crews will be returning next week to face Kushida. This comes after Killian Dain and Tyler Breeze have both returned to NXT, with their returns seeming to be permanent. At the moment, there is no word on if Crews’ return will be permanent or just for this one single match. Crews
has been on the main roster since the night after WrestleMania 32.

You might not remember Crews in NXT. Check him out challenging for the
    title:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: This is one of the better things that WWE can do, as there are
only so many spots for people on the main roster. Crews hasn’t done
anything on either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live, so let him go back
down to NXT where he can at least get in the ring. It’s better than
nothing, even if he wasn’t the biggest star in NXT in the first place.
It’s not like he has anything else to do at the moment.

What do you think of Crews? How will he do down in NXT? Let us know in

Nothing Wrong With That. Cody Releasing A New Book As Part Of A Series.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 11:01 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/nothing-wrong-cody-releasing-new-book-part-series/

It’s another way to build an audience. Wrestling isn’t quite the same as it used to be back in the day. Wrestlers have found various ways to reach their audience that goes beyond the traditional promos and matches.
Several of them have various forms of merchandise, and now some of the more popular wrestlers in the world are reaching a certain group of fans in a
    unique way.

According to a press release by way of Wrestlinginc.com, AEW’s Cody will be releasing a new children’s book called “Cody Heart of the Mountain” on July
    15. The book is the second in a series called the Elite Team Series, with
the first entry being released by the Young Bucks called Young Bucks Stand Tall. The book will be a sci-fi story featuring various members of the AEW roster falling under a spell while camping and Cody needing to fix
everything. It will be available at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Target and elsewhere.

Cody has been busy as of late. Check out one of the more interesting
things he has done in the last few months:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: Cool. There’s nothing wrong with getting children to read more
and having a series of books can help getting them to do more reading is a great thing. I haven’t seen either of the books but John Cena’s children’s
book was a rather nice idea. Hopefully this winds up being a success and
gets some more kids reading. It’s not like this is going to hurt anything

The First Of Many. ESPN Hands Out The First ESPY For WWE Moment Of The
    Year.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 07:00 PM PDT https://wrestlingrumors.net/tommyhall/first-many-espn-hands-first-espy-wwe-moment-year/

It’s an honor. Over the last few years, WWE has made some strides to being considered a more mainstream sport, or at least a more mainstream form of entertainment. This has worked out rather well for them as the company is
now able to do several more things that they haven’t been able to do in
years past. One of those accomplishments took place on Wednesday night at
    a prestigious event.

WWE received its own award category at the 2019 ESPY Awards, marking the
first time that the company has ever received an award. The first ever
ESPY for Best WWE Moment went to Roman Reigns for announcing that his
leukemia was in remission. Reigns’ announcement came about four months
after he initially announced that he was suffering from the disease again.
    The other nominees were:

Becky Lynch winning both Women’s Titles at WrestleMania 35

Kofi Kingston wins the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35

Ronda Rousey defeats Alexa Bliss to win the Raw Women’s Title at Summerslam 2018

In February, @WWERomanReigns announced that he was in remission and back wrestling!

That landed him the first-ever ESPY for Best WWE Moment! ? pic.twitter.com/Uy415GkHZW

    - ESPN (@espn) July 10, 2019

What else could it be? Check out the award winning (and awesome) moment:
[This post contains video, click to play]

Opinion: Really, what else could it have been? This is a cool moment
whether you are a fan of Reigns or not as the idea of someone being cleared
of a disease like this is just great to see. Reigns is back and still has
a long way to go, but just being able to get back in the ring is more than enough to earn something like this. It’s also cool to see ESPN looking at something like this, which isn’t something that you would see otherwise.

been nominated? Let us know in the comments below.

I Might Need To See This. A Surprising Name Is Commenting On The Firefly
    Fun House Puppets Cameos.

What a bizarre feud. Bray Wyatt is one of the more confusing stories in wrestling these days. It’s clear that WWE is trying to do something with
him as the amount of time and effort put into the Firefly Fun House dwarf
some of the top stories in the company. We’re still waiting to see him actually show up in the arena, someone has caught on to Wyatt’s friends showing up in the arena.

Bayley recently posted a quick video to Twitter, showing her walking past Ramblin Rabbit while on the way to the ring for a contract signing on
SmackDown Live. The Tweet also said that Bayley was willing to put Rabbit
in her upcoming title match. This is the first time that a wrestler has acknowledged the puppets, who have appeared in the background of such transitional segments for weeks now.

Rabbit has quite the lifespan. Check out one of his last appearances in
    the Fun House:

Opinion: I can’t imagine that Bayley is going to be Wyatt’s first target, but at this point it’s starting to not matter. The longer that Wyatt isn’t on television or doing anything whatsoever, the less I believe that WWE is willing to do something big with him. WWE has a bad tendency to take way
too long with something like this and Wyatt’s track record isn’t something that can handle a long delay.

Who is Wyatt’s first target? When will he show up? Let us know in the comments below.
