NXT Takeover Media Call - Triple H on Tyler Breezes Return, Ciampas Status, Street Profits, 25 Takeovers & More

    Posted: 01 Jun 2019 08:12 PM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/nxt-takeover-media-call-triple-h-on-tyler-breezes-return-ciampas-status-street-profits-25-takeovers-more/

Following Saturday nights successful NXT Takeover XXV special, Paul Triple
H Levesque took time to sit down with the wrestling media, both in person
at the arena and those on the phone, including ProWrestling.com. Below are highlights from the conference call.

Triple H says the Street Profits are crazy good athletes but Montez hasnt been in the business for very long. Theyve taken time to find their grove
but now theyre there. Hes really happy for both guys and calls them good workers.

He jokes that Tommaso Ciampa being cleared for non-contact basically means nothing because he cant do anything the business requires, but hes able to
go out and talk and do the pre-show. But hes not getting anywhere near the
ring and has a ways to go but is way ahead of schedule and hes chomping at
the bit to come back. Says he called Ciampa to come in for Takeover because
he just needs to be here.

He was asked if he goes back and watches the show through after its over.
He watches certain elements for the production of it, like tonight they had
a new lighting system, but its Shawn Michaels, Mat Bloom, Road Dogg, Sarah Amato and the Performance Center coaches that will break everything down beat-by-beat with the talent.

Triple H says tonight was special because NXT has proved over the course
of 25 of these specials that they can stand on their own, and they dont
need a Monday night TV slot or a Sunday PPV spot to sell out buildings.

He was asked what he looks for as far as a successful show, and says he
looks at the analytics, but for him its about going out and putting on incredible shows, time and time again. Its not about one night, its like a boxing fight and tonight was the 25th round.

Tyler Breeze fits into this brand perfectly. Says he and Dream were able
to follow the carnage of the ladder match because theyre about personality
and star power. Breeze is a stellar worker, but he learned how to be a star
in the system on the main roster, and has come back with more tools. He
also proved that he deserved to be there and he wasnt taking anyones spot.

In a rare personal moment, Triple H says that hes putting on the show for himself. Hes still the same kid who watched Jimmy Snuka jump off the top of
the cage, eating cereal in his PJs. When he gets home from NXT at night he
cant sleep for the same reason he couldnt sleep watching wrestling as a
kid. Says he had a meeting with the talent before the show and said he
wouldnt trade any of them for any other talent anywhere in the world,
because he believes in the NXT brand.

Finishes up the night by saying that they had 8/31 on the books for
Takeover UK long before WrestleMania, and theyre not running the show to compete with anyone (meaning AEW or NJPW). That said, theyll air in
primetime that night in the UK and theyll send a statement that is follow
this across the pond, and he expects the same answer in response.

WWE Announces NXT Takeover UK Special Going Head-To-Head With AEW & NJPW

    Posted: 01 Jun 2019 07:39 PM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/wwe-announces-nxt-takeover-uk-special-going-head-to-head-with-aew/

WWE has officially announced that the second ever NXT Takeover UK special
will emanate live from Cardiff, Wales on Saturday, August 31st. The show
will air live on the WWE Network at 8PM local time (3PM ET).

If that date sounds familiar, its because it takes place just hours before
AEW ALL OUT at the Sears Centre in Chicago, IL. Whats even more interesting about WWEs decision to run a show that day, in particular a show in the UK,
is that New Japan Pro-Wrestling will also be running their highly
anticipated Royal Quest event in London, England at the same time.

    Adam Cole, baybay!

Hes a former NXT North American Champion, a three time Ring of Honor World Champion, CZW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion, and a former PWG World
Champion. Hes won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, the Survival of the Fittest, the Battle of Los Angeles, the Super Indy 16 and the Best of the
    Best.

Now the Undisputed Era leader can add one more accolade to his 12-year
resume, as Adam Cole defeated Johnny Gargano in an instant classic at NXT Takeover XXV to become the brand new NXT Champion.

Saturday nights special wasnt all rainbows and sunshine for the Undisputed
Era, however. While Cole managed to win the world title, Roderick Strong
kicked off the show in an excellent, albeit losing effort against the
Original Bro Matt Riddle. Bobby Fish and Kyle OReilly also failed to win
the NXT Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way Ladder Match, as the Street
Profits walked away with the gold for the very first time.

The Street Profits first came together in the later half of 2017 and have
been slowly working their way up the ladder no pun intended ever since.

Forgotten Sons, and the team of Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch to win the
    titles in a ladder match.

    NXT TakeOver XXV Results

    Bridgeport, CT

    June 1, 2019

Mauro Ranallo welcomes us to the Webster Bank Arena for tonights show,
joined by Nigel McGuinness and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix. The
Undisputed Eras music sounds as Roderick Strong makes his way out to the
    ring for tonights first match!
    MATT RIDDLE vs. RODERICK STRONG

They go back and forth trying to wrestle each other down to the mat, but Strongs usually superior ground game is easily stopped by the former UFC fighter. They end up fight to the outside and throw each other into
barricades and ring steps, before Strong gets the first huge move of the
match, with a nasty-looking backbreaker on the edge of the ring apron!
Riddle tries to fire back with wild rights and lefts, but he gets caught
yet again with a big backbreaker, and Strong immediately gets a rear mount
and reigns down with blows to the back of the head.

Riddle eventually manages to fight his way back into the bout and delivers
a Fishermans Suplex that looked a bit more like a Brainbuster, before connecting with a series of palm strikes and a big crescent kick. He hit an exploder suplex, sending Strong flying across the ring, followed by a
running senton and the running PK, but only gots a two-count.

After a great back-and-forth, Riddle connects with the Bro-to-Sleep, transitioning into a German suplex bridge for another nearfall. Strong
caught him with an enzuigiri climbing the ropes and sent him crashing with
a thunderous superplex, but it wasnt enough. Once again they go
back-and-forth with rights and lefts. Strong goes for a lariat, Riddle
rolls through into a powerbomb, Strong flips out of it and hits the
V-Trigger! He runs the ropes delivering forearm shot after forearm shot
until Riddle was on spaghetti legs, then nailed the Strong Breaker! 12
    RIDDLE KICK S OUT!

Strong lost his cool and rolled out of the ring, but Riddle caught him
coming back in with a knee to the jaw. Riddle followed up immediately with
a serires of nasty strikes, a roundhouse kick, then hit a RIpcord
V-Trigger, but it still wasnt enough. Strong fired back with forearms as
the crowd was going crazy, then destroyed him with even more kicks, before hitting a superkick, a suplex, the double knees lungblower and locks in the Strong Hold!

Riddle starts to fade, but somehow manages to get his feet free and kick
his opponent in the head over and over again to release the hold.
Bromission locked in with Riddle reigning down nasty looking blows to the
side of the head, then releases the hold to deliver a Gotch-style
Piledriver, shades of MInoru Suzuki! 123!

    Winner: Matt Riddle

WATCH: Disco Inferno Trashes Womens Wrestling & Tessa Blanchard Kicks His
    Ass

    Posted: 01 Jun 2019 01:07 PM PDT https://www.prowrestling.com/watch-disco-inferno-trashes-womens-wrestling-tessa-blanchard-kicks-his-ass/

The infamous Glenn Gilbertti, perhaps better known as Disco Inferno,
returned to Impact Wrestling this Friday night to continue his sexist
diatribe against the entirety of womens wrestling.

The last time we saw ole Disco, he was getting his butt handed to him by
the Smokeshow Scarlett Bordeaux, but this time around the loud-mouth heat magnet came after an even bigger fish the former Knockouts Champion Tessa Blanchard. The end result was well, not great for Mr. Inferno.

Disco marched to the ring on Impact and compared the womens revolution to a
car crash waiting to happen, stating that Tessa being one of the best
female wrestlers in the world is sort of like being a Philadelphia Fflyer
    it doesnt matter.

Blanchard immediately took the fight to him, hammering Disco with brutal forearm shots before delivering a knee to the gut, and one final forearm
smash to knock the old WCW star out cold, pinning him 1-2-3 in the middle
of the ring. Check out the footage below.
