    Yeah the Hokies ain’t what they used to be and it’s not surprising their beat would be on the chopping block given the last few years’ performance.

    But I suspect they aren’t the only team to have their beat reporter laid
    off today.

    So much of the 'work' now in terms of being a beat reporter for a college program is found in sites like texasags and the like.
    And a lot of that is volunteer stuff or create your own job stuff. Which is a good thing- unless someone is creating real value and
    indispensable(and most guys like him aren't obviously), the reaper should be coming for them.

    As you no the way sports is covered now(especially college football) is so different. Now even the 'new media' is seeing cost cutting, changes, etc in favor of the 'new new' media haha....and thats a good thing.
