There are 82 bowl openings ("I thought you said 80" - I did, but apparently somebody threw in a 41st bowl game), and 73 bowl eligible teams going into Thanksgiving weekend; also, the Ball State-Miami Ohio and Appalachian State-Georgia Southern winners
will have 6 wins, so that's 75 teams.
It looks like only 11 teams have any chance of getting in with a 5-7 record, unless a 5-7 team on the list declines a bowl bid:
