• Question for the CFP committee

From The NOTBCS Guy@21:1/5 to All on Sat Nov 19 12:18:06 2022
Is a 1-point TCU win over Baylor treated the same as, say, a 28-point win? I think some committee members are going to think long and hard about whether or not to keep TCU in the top four. (A Michigan loss would make the decision a little easier...)

who would replace TCU? Tennessee? That 27-13 loss to Georgia was not as close as the score.

Well, this really gets at the best vs. most deserving question that I asked in my other thread. Given TCU's schedule, I think an undefeated run through that deserves top 4 no matter how ugly their wins have been.

That's pretty much the eye test here.

And it's going to be a dilemma. I think it almost has to be accepted, at this point, Georgia is basically two touchdowns better than EVERYBODY right now.

That said, the same could be asked of Michigan this week as well.

On any given day the best can be beat.

Less and less so, it appears, the last number of years in college football.

On any given day the best can be beat. How much does this adage play in any decision making?

On any given day the offense can be hitting on all 8 cylinders and score 40 points and at the same time the defense is anemic and the opponent scores 39.

    The variables are numerous.

I think somebody forgot to tell Kentucky that. Then again, it looks like pretty much everybody got caught looking ahead.

The weather conditions kept it to ten, but, except for two drives, they were unable to move against far superior competition.

FPI liked TCU's win over Baylor. It moved TCU from 16th to 15th. TCU is still #1 in FPI's SOR rankings, though, which I still think is better for placing playoff teams.

It was on the road at a decent team in conference. That certainly counts
    for something.

With Tennesee's debacle in Columbia I see no impediments to TCU's
elevation presuming they win out (which is not as a big an if as it
was). In fact, they might make a 2 seed or even a one if Georgia craps
the bed in Atlanta and tOSU loses.

Who would be the 1 in that scenario?
