I don't have a twatter account, but is it common for conservatives to use the "n-word" when describing black political opponents?

Did you know the fossil fuel industry epitomizes rape culture? Did you know Bernie’s hand gestures revictimize gay conversion therapy survivors? If DailyKos became sentient and created a robot body for itself that resembled a white woman with
dreadlocks it would take Dr. Grist for its mate.

    Conservative Politicians Using the N-word

A GOP Alabama council member has caused outrage by using the N-word in a
public debate to refer to one of his Black colleagues.

When a member of the public said that she had used the N-word, Bryant
said: "Let's get to the N-word," which he referred to indirectly at
first. He then used the word, saying "Do we have a house [N-word] in here?" https://www.businessinsider.com/alabama-republican-called-black-colleague-n-word-in-meeting-outburst-2021-7

These two polls show that substantial numbers of Trump voters did not
reject or disapprove of the use of this racial slur:

    Source: Aug. 19-21 YouGov/Economist Poll; Aug. 14-16 YouGov/HuffPost
Poll (Good link to WP article below)
Few Trump voters think that using the n-word makes whites racist, just
42 percent find the slur offensive, and only a quarter wouldn’t vote for
a candidate who said it. By contrast, more than three-quarters of people
who voted for Hillary Clinton think the n-word is offensive, racist and
should disqualify political candidates who have said it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monkey-cage/wp/2018/08/30/democrats-and-republicans-didnt-use-to-disagree-about-the-n-word-now-they-do/

Michigan GOP official refuses calls to resign while continuing to
    publicly use n-word https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/511020-michigan-gop-official-refuses-calls-to-resign-while-continuing-to/

You start out in 1954 by saying, “Nigger, nigger, nigger.” By 1968 you can’t say “nigger”—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh,
forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them
is, blacks get hurt worse than whites.… “We want to cut this,” is much more abstract than even the busing thing, uh, and a hell of a lot more
    abstract than “Nigger, nigger.”

Now, the same indefatigable researcher who brought us Mitt Romney’s “47 percent” remarks, James Carter IV, has dug up the entire
forty-two-minute interview from which that quote derives. Here, The
Nation publishes it in its entirety for the very first time. https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/exclusive-lee-atwaters-infamous-1981-interview-southern-strategy/

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has called for a Virginia GOP official to
resign after a jaw-dropping racist Facebook post using the N-word to
describe Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and retired Gen. Russell Honoré. https://www.thedailybeast.com/hampton-virginia-gop-official-david-dietrich-refuses-to-step-down-after-racist-facebook-tirade

(Now here's a good one) Now, we’re confronted with a related story in
which Paladino argued publicly that rascally Democrats have somehow kept
Black Americans “dumb and hungry,” which can’t be undone since, in the GOP candidate’s mind, Black people can’t be taught otherwise.

Part of what makes this notable — aside from the obvious offensiveness
of Paladino’s unsubtle racism — is the degree to which the New York Republican captures a larger political dynamic. NBC News’ Benjy Sarlin,
for example, recently explained, “Paladino was an early canary in the
coal mine for where politics was headed. He emailed out a bestiality
video to his contact list (yes, you read that correctly) along with
racist memes featuring the n-word and then won the gubernatorial
nomination” in New York in 2010. https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/gop-house-candidate-slammed-dumb-hungry-black-people-rcna34505

The Republican Party of Hampton, Virginia last week became aware of a
February 2021 Facebook post by Hampton Electoral Board Chair David
Dietrich. In the post, Dietrich attacked Austin—the first Black Defense Secretary in U.S. history—and other Democratic leaders. The controversy
was first reported by local WAVY News 10.

Dietrich said in the post that Austin's efforts to root out white
nationalists in the military was actually a ploy "to remove
conservative, freedom-loving Americans from the roles." He said Austin
and other Democratic leaders are "vile and racist," describing them as "stinking" N-words. https://www.newsweek.com/gop-official-who-called-lynching-lloyd-austin-refuses-resign-1696507

Another Republican official in Texas has been exposed for using racist language, this time in a text message made public by a Galveston
    newspaper on Saturday.

Galveston County Republican Party Chairwoman Yolanda Waters referred to
an African American party member using the N-word in a text, according
    to the The Daily News.

In the message to a party secretary, Waters was referring to J.T.
Edwards, a black man. “Waters complained about personal loans she and
her husband had made to Edwards, and then followed her complaint about
the money by calling Edwards a ‘typical Nig,’” reported The Daily News. https://texassignal.com/republican-official-in-texas-busted-for-using-n-word-calling-it-a-typo/

Capitol police officer says Jan. 6 rioters used N-word against him, others Officer Harry Dunn said other members of the force shared similar
stories of the pro-Trump mob. https://www.politico.com/news/2021/07/27/captiol-police-racial-slurs-500846

Eventually, it will have to be seen as just a word.

    Probably not.

"MSNBC's Joy Reid sparks outrage by saying conservatives would 'trade
all the tax cuts in the world to be able to openly say the n-word' –
after claiming Texas was reopening because white people want black
people back 'making them steaks'" https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9328609/MSNBCs-Joy-Reid-says-conservatives-trade-tax-cuts-world-use-n-word.html

Pretty outrageous claim but still a little funny. Personally, I don't
care for Joy Reid. But I could envision conservatives seriously
considering giving up 1 or 2% in marginal tax rates at upper income
levels (maybe all income levels) to be able to use the N-word with
impunity. SCOTUS could rule that use of the word is the purview of state legislatures.

I hope you know where I'm coming from on this. I would love to live in
a society where it doesn't matter what your skin tone happens to be. I
worked with and for plenty of black people. All I cared about was
    competence.
