• How To Spend $100+

From TE@21:1/5 to All on Fri May 20 19:39:48 2022
Filled the tank $80 ~15 gallons
    Gillette razors $18
    12 Pack Squirt $9

I yam olde. The only item that I can "enjoy" is the Squirt, at that makes me fat(ter).

I told my three children, years ago, if I start complaining about gas prices and discuss where to purchase the cheapest, they can kill or commit me.

On a positive fiscal note, I went through my piles of tools and hardware and took back any unopened package to Lowes. $78. Gave it right back of course.

no, on 2nd thought, I mean we spent $96. Or something like that. Anyway, it saved us a lot of money 'cause we went (still do) a long way on each gallon. What kind of mileage do you get?

Upgraded my Prius to a Chevy Volt in 2020. Now I only buy gas for road
trips. It’s a best of both worlds car IMO. Like many Volt fanboys I can’t figure out why PHEVs aren’t more popular. They really seem to hit the sweet spot.

As I age, a new car becomes less and less exciting. PH/EVs Even less so. I'm going
to get a Mustang....sometime soon, the old fashioned gasoline model. Something about that V8. I let my wife get the luxury vehicle.

Picking-up a new EV would be, to me, a errand rather than something to look forward to.
Yeah, year first world problems and all that.

Look at the amount of sugar in Squirt. A couple of them would put me in

I don’t think they’ve figured how to make Diesel engines start and stop smoothly in step with the battery power. Several years ago on a business
trip I rode with a colleague in Copenhagen in a diesel Golf that had a
start and stop engine. That thing was rough!

Also one of the advantages that battery drive gives you, strong low-end
torque, diesels already have. So maybe battery and diesel drive don’t complement each other that well?

Clark Howard turned me on to the way to reduce razor costs -- make sure
the razor is completely dry before putting it back in the cabinet. I use
a sheet of TP and shaking to do this.

I have gone from using 10 razors a year to one or two.

Yeah but isn’t that just a diesel generator that powers the electric motors which drive the wheels exclusively? That’s not the same setup as a hybrid car where the gas motor and the batteries can both drive the wheels,
together or separately, through the transmission. The non-electric motor in
a hybrid car is not merely a generator providing electric power to electric motors. (Except for the BMW i3-Rex and maybe the first generation Volt,
which isn’t the one I have).
