    The original post stated that if several thousand police officers were at the funeral and not on patrol, then we have too many police and don't need
    them. It was oblivious to several facts, Police officers, like every other working person, are not out patroling 24/7. They're humans and need
    personal time for their private lives, such as sleep, family time, etc. Like most jobs, they work nominal 8 hour shifts. NYC has about 35,000
    officers, 12,000 from that number ARE on duty 24/7, monitoring a city of 9 million. 24,000, then, would be on off duty and many thousands chose to
    go to the funeral. All of this seemed to escape the minds of those who saw cops in uniform at a funeral and immediately stated that proves there must
    be too many cops.

    One on-duty cop in NYC per 1000 citizens is about avrage.

    Since a slowdown is similar to a small cutback in poice numbers, your referrence above seems to me to show what happens when the number of cops is
    reduced, as the leftists were calling for.
