• Lanning's 4th down calls

    A lot of criticism about his going for it on 4th, but IMO, the only one that's questionable is the one right before halftime. Because it's not just if you make it or not, it's what the consequences are if you don't make it.

    Right before half, I'd think you would want to basically guarantee points on the board. The next one? The one he seems to be taking the most criticism over? That actually worked to perfection. They didn't get it, but it left Washington deep in their
    own territory. They didn't get very far, had to punt, and then Oregon had short field and scored a TD. The last one? Based on the fact that the game would have been over if they converted, and a punt would have cost Washington 20-25 yards in field
    position, I think going for it there was the right call, too.
