    Damn. Stepped on a pop-top.

One of my brushes with fame -- he attended a party of mine in Champaign in 1974.

I never would've thought Fingers Taylor would outlive Jimbo.

Guess he won’t be doing a Labor Day weekend show.

    RIP Jimmy

Jimmy Buffett was hugely popular, had a net worth of a $Billion
dollars but never had a #1 rated song. In fact, his highest rated
song was "Margaritaville" which reached the #8 spot.

While he certainly made a lot of money from his music I don’t think the
kinds of things that push songs up the charts like record sales and radio
play were a significant part of his wealth. The dude was a major
entrepreneur, always touring, and had so many themed businesses from restaurants to retirement communities… yes really, I know someone who lives in “Latitude Margaritaville Hilton Head”.

I like Buffet (who doesn’t) but I think I would get tired of him pretty quickly if I lived in a development themed around him.

One funny thing I saw was an AI screw-up. A news aggregator had the
headline that Jimmy Buffet was worth a billion, but the picture they used
    was of Warren Buffet. Heh!
