Here are the "schedule highlights" for 2023

    16 schools play all-FBS schedules:
    Colorado
    Houston
    Illinois
    Iowa
    Liberty
    Michigan
    Minnesota
    Nebraska
    Oklahoma
    Purdue
    Texas
    Texas-San Antonio
    USC
    Virginia Tech
    Washington
    Wisconsin

On the other hand, Army plays two FCS teams. This could be important, as only one win against an FCS team can count towards bowl eligibility - a lesson Army and Appalachian State learned the hard way last season.

Hawaii and New Mexico State each play 13 regular season games; note that a 6-7 record does not automatically make a team bowl eligible, although they are the first teams that become eligible should there not be 82 eligible teams. (Yes, there are 41 bowl
games open to FBS teams. For those of you who only see 40 on the ESPN page, it doesn't list the Holiday Bowl yet, probably because it didn't announce its date - 12/27, 8:00 Eastern, on Fox.)

"So where are the preseason NOTBCS/NOTCFP rankings?"
There aren't any - they are dependent upon computer rankings, so I want until all of the teams are "linked" (i.e. you can trace a chain of games already played between any two FBS teams), which happens in week 3. Before that, for example, Kansas State
and Troy don't play any FBS teams besides each other.

This is true for USC every year.

    Fight On!
