Trump will win the general if Biden wins the popular by 5. Biden will win NY and CA by more than 5% of the national vote.

IOW, all the slackers and scumbags in the cities will vote for Biden,
while people that work for a living will vote Trump.

Er, Biden only had a 4.4% nationwide lead in the 2020 election. Refresh my memory; how did that turn out?
Also note that the Quinnipiac poll in question had 7% undecided/others.

Your statement assumes the rest of the country's Trump-Biden breakdown is uniform. Somehow, I think Trump will get a larger percentage of the vote in, say, Alabama than he will in Massachusetts.

But you know the saying: there's only one poll that counts. Well, for a Presidential election, there are only 51 polls that count.

Joe Biden and the DOJ must be a little worried or they wouldn't try to intimate Devon Archer. The career of Joe Biden is ending and we won't see him running for President in 2024.

the thing that gets me about partisans is that they start to believe their fantasies. Like the crazy lefties have convinced themselves that Ukraine is full of Nazis and Russia is there only to save the non-Nazis. So too, the crazed right-wingers think "
Hunter Biden" is the most important issue in the country. Yeah, to crazed righties who already hate Biden. Not really at all to everyone else.

He also had about a 7-8 point lead in a lot of the major polls (270 To Win, RealClearPolitics, 538). (Aggregating source: Wikipedia.)

Biden's margin of victory in the popular vote was 7,059,526. (4.456% of the total)

    He won California by 5,104,121.

He won New York by 1,992,889.

That is 7,097,010, or about 37,484 votes more than by which he won the popular vote. (Same aggregating source)

CA and NY total 84 of the 306 electoral votes. Outside those two states, Trump wins both the popular and electoral vote.

Another reason people like Ken Olson are going to have to round up militias and come shooting to take over.

All I ask is that politics is out of it and he gets treated the way
anyone else is treated, both good and bad. There is much else more

In fact, before Biden in 2020, the last President who would have lost had California gone the other way was...Woodrow Wilson in 1916.

However, California and New York DO count, so your claim that Trump will win if a poll shows Biden ahead nationally by 5% does not make sense - especially as we know nothing about how the polled voters are distributed. You cannot make the assumption that
every state outside of CA and NY will break the same way - which is pretty much exactly what you did.

On the other hand, a Harvard-Harris poll conducted three days later, and with more registered voters, has Trump ahead by 5% (45-40). Like I said, the only polls that matter are the 51 taken on election day...and even then, if the Republicans can get 218
in the House and 51 in the Senate, we could have another 1876 on our hands.
