I think that was more Jerry Falwell’s doing. Robertson just tried to ridet that wave.

I've learned several things in the last 25 years.
1) All equality is enforcement.
2) All law is violent enforcement of ethics/morals, including the multiple "tiers of laws".
3) Putting religion into politics and attempting to impose religious principles is a centerpiece of much of American life. Many believe it not only against their religion (and, hence, against the 1st Amendment) to allow other Gods to exist (making the
Many see religion in politics as a very GOOD THING.
That you don't, frankly, somewhat surprises me.
In fact, more than somewhat...

Not really. In the end the hard core Christian right that the Rs are attracting is a shrinking base. It is anti-everything.

When you look at the concepts of what they believe is necessary to go to Heaven, you at least in their line of thinking understand why.
It's their unwillingness to actually put on the Armor of God and start what is necessary to be done (Nahum 1:2 -- For the Lord Our God is a vengeful God, or words to that effect) to get there.
It can even be said that people like myself are not only a threat to their Earthly life, but their eternal one as well.
And yes, that includes members of my family.
