"Like, I hate LIV. I hope it goes away, and I would fully expect that it does. I think that's where the distinction here is. This is the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour and the PIF -- very different from LIV."

I mean rory, LIV is just a name.....the point is that it's the phony golf league propped up artificially by the saudi investment fund, and now that same regime/investment fund is now the exclusive investor(ie funder) of the new tour. You can play games
with it by saying the PGA tour still controls the most board seats in the new tour and stuff like that, but the bottom line is this saudi regime is the exclusive funder of the new tour and since they are the ones funding it all they are the ones with the
real power and will be the driving force behind it. I mean you can vote all your want on things, but whoever controls the purse strings(and that will be the saudis) have the real power.......

Rory somehow spinning this as the pga tour winning out over LIV is ridiculous imo.

I'm assuming the PIF reached out to him and made a promise on the down low to throw a bag of money his way to say stuff like this lol.....

If the question is PGA vs LIV as a product, LIV is disappearing. And that’s good thing. It’s an absurd product.

As for money sources, the Saudis can now more broadly sports wash and they don’t have to do it by finding s stupid product.

The losers here are the golfers that didn’t take the direct free payout from the Saudis when they could. But who knows how much of that was upfront and how much might disappear with the end of LIV.

As for me, I don’t watch much golf anyway. So I’ll just play more and watch even less and do whatever I can to support the golfers that didn’t sell out.

You've got it backwards. If anything, the PGA is going to disappear and be replaced with LIV, or something akin to it's name.

Because the PGA Tour actually gets its name from a sponsorship deal. I don't think the PGA of America is going to want much to do with the Saudis.

As for money sources, the Saudis can now more broadly sports wash and they don’t have to do it by finding s stupid product.

They now have world golf. They may be in the beginnings of doing the same to world soccer.

The losers are the PGA golfers. The Saudi blood whores won.

but will the new venture(and it's described more like a merger) even be called the pga tour? The espn article I read said the name is still tbd.......if thats the case, one could say the pga is ending as well. I agree that nobody cares about team golf,
but monohan even made it a point to say that the new venture will incorporate elements of that.......

Now the pga tour will still exist as a non-profit and it sounds like they will keep the name for that, but the main thing here(a professional golfing league) will be for profit and under a different name and it sounds like under different rules and
tournament structure than the PGA tour....

Prize money will double again and the players will have a short memory. There's also talk of the players unionizing for what's that's worth.

All I want to know and what nobody is talking about is what Greg Norman's role will be going forward. Hopefully we never hear from him again.
