I make it up to Lake Superior several times a year and am never on it without that song in my mind. (personally, I like "If you could read my mind" better, but that doesn't take away from WotEF)

I sang "If You Could Read My Mind" and My voice teacher told me I had
a better voice than Gordon Lightfoot. I knew that wasn't really true
and played "Beautiful" for her. She never said anything like
    that again.

He has so many great ones.

For many years I thought “Carefree Highway” was “Every Highway”.

    Ribbon of Darkness
    Song for a Winter's Night
    Canadian Railroad Trilogy

Many others (as you note), but these are my favorites.

Can't say I was a big fan but we always listened to a few of his
songs when we went on fishing trips to Canada. One of his songs
was about the sinking of the "Edmund Fitzgerald" in Lake Superior
in 1975, where 29 men died. Well there was a small church up there that
held a service for the dead sailors and they rang the chapel bell
29 times. When Gordon Lightfoot died they rang the bell 30 times.

The church is in Detroit next door to GM HQ. I’ve been there. I mean the song lyric says it’s in Detroit.
