The only thing holding me back from LOL is that we have Barca soon. Not
really necessary to turn the woff gods' attention to that.

Usually my eyes just skip over signatures, today I read Anders'

UEFA '08! Time does fly. In May of that year I went on a business trip
to the East coast, hopping over to Portugal in the middle of it.

I stayed at the Marriott in Annapolis Junction, around the corner from
the NSA, and most personnel at the hotel seemed to be either Russian or Ukrainians:-). Watched the 2nd half of the final at the bar, and most of
them were just idling around looking at the game. I think they were
pulling for Chelsea, as loyal Abramovitch fans.

Things did change a lot since then, not only for ManU.

Trophies won in last 5 seasons:

Adjusted for "Real" trophies (ie. no charity shields, super cups , WCC
    and so on)

    Real Madrid 7

2 leagues, no copa del reys, 2 CLs = 4, one of the CLs was in 2018, so
gets dropped out of the 5 year window after this year.

    Liverpool 6

    1 CL, 1 League, 1 FA Cup, 1 league cup =4

    Barcelona 4

2 leagues, 2 copa del Rey. = 4 (two of which get dropped out of 5 year
    window in a few months)

    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    Man Utd 0

    1 League cup now.

    Man City:

    4 league
    1 FA Cup
    4 league cup
= 9 but all in jeopardy I guess. Titles could be stripped.

    Bayern

    5 league
    2 Cup
    1 CL
    = 8

    PSG

    4 league
    3 Cup
    2 League Cup
    =9

Cough... splutter... no Club World Cup? The most important club trophy
in the World, nay, the whole Universe? And it doesn't count as a REAL trophy?!!!

Oh dear, somebody here will be very disappointed... ;-)

Not my problem. I have not seen a definition of "major trophy" that I
like better than what I posted here a while back, though I could
certainly be convinced otherwise by reasoned argument.

Some things in common about all the things I consider major trophies:
    1) you need to win more than a handful of games to win the trophy BEYOND whatever got you into the competition in the first place
    2) there are other teams in the competition who are hard to bear
    3) winning them qualifies you for something else that carries at least
some (and sometimes a great deal) of prestige. (eg. Libertadores,
    European Cup/CL, CWC/Europa league )

But I know Alkamista more or less agrees with me on this, which is why I
found his accounting a bit fishy (apart from the obvious goal of
    trolling Anders).

No, I think your definition of "major trophy" makes the most sense. I
would not consider the CWC a "major" trophy either.
